Vasilisa BARDINA: What a jump in the world ranking for Vasilisa who is another russian teenage to break the Top 50! She's up 22 spots after a troumandous run at Hobart Tier IV $170K where she finished runner up as a qualifer! In the qualies she ousted 3rd seed/n59 Agnieska Radwanska and followed the week with convincing victories. She was only stopped by Top seed/n13 Chakvetadze after a 2 tight sets match.

FASTER MOVEMENTS IN THE TOP 10,20 ,50, 100, 150 and 200

TOP 20:
Na LI n16 (+5): Na is the first chinnese girl to reach such a high ranking! Last week she reached her 5th career SF on the WTA Tour at Sydney Tier II $600K. During that week she ousted 6th seed/n8 Dementieva en route before losing to eventual winner 3rd seed/n5 Clijters in a thrilling 3 sets match.

TOP 50:
Vasilisa BARDINA n48 (+22): see above

TOP 100:
Sania MIRZA n53 (+13) and Serena WILLIAMS n81 (+13): Both players were competing in Hobart. Sania made it to the SF upsetting 4th seed/n29 Kirilenko en route before falling to Top seed/n13 and eventual winner Chakvetadze. After a desapointing 2006 season, sania is back to confirm her huge talent.
As far as Serena is concerned, she was back to competition after a 2006 season undre injuries. For her 1rst tournement in 2007, she reached the QF falling to courageous n56 Bammer. Serena seems to be motivated to come back for the best as usual, but she still has got to work a lot to find her fitness and stamina needed for her powerfull game.

TOP 150:
Alicia MOLIK n141 (+24): Another player who is coming back after a long injury time out. Alicia is fear of tennis and victories. Shre started the year with an unexpected victory over n6 Petrova at the Hopman Cup. Even if it wasn't an offical torunement, that victory may have given her a lot of confidence for 2007. At Hobart she reached the QF ousting 6th seed/n32 Aliona bonarenko en route before falling to n66 Mirza. The road to the Top 10 is still very long...

TOP 200:
Vanessa HENKE n191 (+3) and Alize CORNET n192 (+3): Both girls are up 3 places without playing (only due to ranking movements). however, the destiny should be different for that 2 girl. In one hand, Vanessa is a 26 y.o and used to be ranked between n150 and n200. In the other hand, Alize is one of the most promising 16 y.o talent.

As usual, I hope you'll enjoy the thread and don't hesitate to comment! see you in 2 weeks (due to Grand Slam period).:bounce: :bounce: ;)

Big jump for Bardina. But kind of mean that she has to face Kim Clijsters in the first round of AO.

And Shahar keeps rising :D
