 In the 'today's results' it has [4]N.Petrova def A.Ivanovic 2-6 2-4 ret'dsame result was in the LiveScores then it switched to Nadia's retirement... Ana just broke for *4-2 there was an injury timeout in the 1st set... all things say that it was Nadia who retired. Unless sthg really bad and unexpected happened to Ana... like breaking a leg *cough* :o

I'm guessing Nadia's injury was that thigh strain that she had during the Hopman Cup. Didn't Nadia have another injury as well during the Hopman Cup? I can't remember.

Well congrats to you Ana and Nadia feel better. But I'm quite sure she's going to play the AO. Perhaps this decision was made as a precaution, because she doesn't want to jeopardise her participation at the AO.

:o  Nadia always withdraws from Sydney  This is the 3rd straight year.

She looked absolutely fine hitting for 2hrs with Mauresmo yesterday. :p Also looked very good, doing her oncourt fitness yesterday for around an hr. ;)

Today, around 3:30pm (2hrs before her match) she was hitting the ball great and showed no signs of any injury.

Maybe she is practicing too much ... she works extremely hard on court.

:hearts: Ana :woohoo:

maybe its the leg injury she picked up in Perth last week

I remember in the 3rd tie at the Hopman Cup she didn't look 100% but due to quality of players she played she was still able to win without being tested

I was at the match and before Petrova withdrew Ana was all opver her I have never seen her play so well she was just ripping the ball off both sides, not just the forehand. She was even hitting winners off the first serve.

Why r so many players getting injured in sydney.. Mallise, Nadal, Kuznetsova, Schriapan, Petrova, and who knows who else... it must have the worst luck of any tournament... these on top of Henins pull out

I don't know why players enter it.
There's no prizemoney. It means nothing compared to the AO, and if you get injured, there's no time to recover before the AO.

THAT'S what I want to hear. The reminds me to last year in Syndey 2nd round. One of her best matches ever. GO ANA!!!!!
