Camille PIN: that "small size" competitor is doing her maximum to face "power hitters new generation" and made it pretty well last week. She performed her 3rd career WTA semi final at Auckland ousting 8th seed/n°44 Perry en route before losing to eventual winner Top seed/n°12 Jankovic.
Marina ERAKOIC: this is the best talent in New Zealand and benefited from a WC at Auckland Tier IV last week. She reached the 2nd rd with a convincing victory over n°90 Tu before falling in a tight 3 sets match vs 7th seed/n°36 Daniilidou.
Sophie FERGUSON: that still young australian is starting the year up 13 places from her best former best ranking after reaching the 2nd round at Gold Coast Tier III upsetting 8th seed/n°26 Sugiyama before losing to compatriot n°29 Stosur.

Dinara SAFINA n°10 (+1): Dinara is back to the Top 10 after winning her 5th career WTA title last week at Gold Coast Tier III upsetting Top seed/n°7 Hingis in fa thrilling 3 sets final. dnanra has also the privilege to be n°1 at the race this week!

Shahar PEER n°18 (+2): Shahar is one of the Top 10 pretender this year. she started the season up 2 places after reaching the semi final at Gold Coast Tier III where she lost to eventual winner 2nd seed/n°11 Safina. She lost after winning the 1rst set and losing the second at the tie break only.

Emilie LOIT n°47 (+9): That french player is back to the Top 50 after reaching the QF at Auckland Tier IV ousting 4th seed and last year winner n°18 Bartoli in straight sets before falling to surprising compatriot n°75 Pin.

Yvonne MEUSBURGER n°125 (+10): Yvonne stated the season with prety smart results reching the 2nd at Auckland Tier IY as a qualifer. She ousted n°76 Bychkova in the main draw before losing to eventual semi finalist n°75 Pin.

Paola SUREZ n°154 (+24): The road to her former Top 10 ranking is merely unreachable (n°9 in 2004). Howevre, at 30 y.o, Paola is back to the compettion full of pleasure and surely expectations. Last week, she made it to the QF at Auckland Tier IV upsetting 6th seed/n°34 Muller en route before falling to another veteran 32 y.o and n°70 Craybas.
