is it just me or are there more players in the Top 150 these days who are age 30 and up?

Ruano Pascual
Tanasugarn (turning 30 in couple months)
Garbin (near career best ranking)
Gagliardi
Suarez
Pratt
Sugiyama
Kremer
Likhovtseva
Frazier (status unknown)
Raymond (status unknown)
Davenport (retiring)

i might have forgotten a couple.

edits:

Pierce (out injured indefinitely)
Craybas (near career best ranking)
Obziler
Smashnova
Brandi (turning 30 next month)
Peshke
de los Rios (not quite in Top 150 but gets benefit of the doubt for being a mom)

she played about 30 tournies in '06 and finished at #135, not too shabby...

you forgot Smashnova, Obziler.

the intresting thing that i've already posted last year is the amount of them playing single handed backhands. it's as though the 90s were packed with it, and now they are the only ones who still carry the game-style.

Ai's going strong still! The best active player behind Pierce, who you forgot.

Go Ai!
And Tammy!

full clay, and knowing her like i do - any tourny that gives out enough cash, which she can directly enter.

Why "status unknown" for Raymond?

Take it from someone who has a real job, ladies: KEEP PLAYING FOR AS LONG AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN! ;)

craybas and peshke are missing here as well.
conchita martinez grandos still active
brandi is a couple of months from 30 as well.
rossanna de los rios is climbing up the ranks fast again, you can count her in.
washington was pretty solid before getting into health problems.

in the doubles side of things stubsy and huber are quiet ancient as well, right?

BSM doesn't make the cut. This thread is about over-30 players who are still actually winning tour matches. ;)

Washington is the only 30-year-old who is showing her age, all the others are playing like spring chickens.

In doubles it's no problem to play until age 40, i'm guessing that Pratt, Stubbs and Raymond might all make it there.

Last WTA tournament she played was Den Bosch and she got to QF!

So she is still in competition... :wavey:

to bring attention to the fact that many players age 30 and over seem to be thriving right now.

You've got some nerve to ask anybody what the point of their threads are after your multiple threads with those Skankovic pics. :p

Well in "Skankovic" pic's thread, there were as five times more posts than in this one. And the point was to show her off court. And there was just two threads with her's pics...

But even do they are "thriving" now, I don't think they are big factor's in tennis. I mean there is no real purpose....

Sorry anyway...

i personally would estimate that having close to 20 players in the Top 150 in the world makes the over-30 demographic a significant factor in the sport. In the past there have been very few female players who stayed active (in singles) beyond this age.

Yeah what's happening with Chanda? She played a few matches at the end of last year I think. I hope she's coming back full-time soon because she is one of my favs.
