If not, who will take over from her?

she has a fair chance of defending the title.
i would say Henin, Momo and Maria, 3 of them are the favourites.

she will try to defend her title . Justine if she's not having any cramps or Maria if she can beat Justine and Amelie ..

No, I think Henin, Sharapova or Hingis will win it!

I think Justine has to be considered the favorite this time around. She is definitely the freshest of the players considering she only competed in Madrid after the U.S. Open.

Just have to wait and see though how everyone comes off the short break.

nope. it will either be juju or sharapova. that will be the final and if juju plays as aggressive as she did against sharapova in the YER she will win again

IMPOSSIBLE

I don't think she'll defend her title. I see her loosing in the final match with Maria.

But I wish her best luck. She deserves everything she gets.

No, I think she won´t win it. 2007 won´t be a good year for Amelie I just feel it.

I think the winner is gonna be Justine,Maria,Hingis or Serena

But the ones who I really think will win it are Serena or Maria

I voted no, because I'd like to see someone not named Mauresmo, Sharapova, or Henin-Hardenne win the Australian. Anyone aside from them. I even like Momo and J2H, but I don't want a repeat of 2006 for Slam finals. If one of them has to win it, I hope it's Momo, though.

I think she won't but will reach at least semifinal. She has a great shot to defend her Wimbledon crown, though.

I answered no, but I think that she will be extra motivated to win it on championship point instead of a retirement.

No, I don't think Mauresmo will defend her title...:D I would like Hingis, Serena, or one of the up-and-comers to take the title such as Vaidisova, Ivanovic, or Chakvetadze...:wavey: but I doubt that'll happen... But I can dream lol.

I'm not sure. Amelie can be very inconsistant. I think she'll make the semis at least and then it's up in the air.
Justine plays amazing tennis in Australia.
Maria is very consistant as well.
Martina always plays remarkable in Australia.
And then there's everyone else.

Stranger things have happened. But I think Justine is the favorite to win the whole thing.

It's amazing and disgusting to the certain extent how underrated and unrespected Amelie is :o
She made it to the finals at the half of the tournaments she played over last three years, scored 34 wins over Top-10 - the most of all players, won 54 matches at the Slams - the most of all players... yet she is still expected to lose early and stand no chance against "when fully fit, etc." players... Unbelievable! :fiery: and laughable
