according to YNET she left Russia and will now live and play in Israel (She is Jewish). from now on she is trying to come back and play Tennis after her injuries and she will represent Israel in the fed cup in the next years. she is now under care by Israeli federation- they have a plan for her recovery but it will take time, at least 2 or 3 months of practicing.

here is the link (hebrew) and some pics (from thursday):

Wow, she looks much thinner than she was when I last saw her play. For a second I thought you were talking about Evgenia Koulikovskaya. I had actually forgotten about Linetskaya. there are so many russians it's kind of hard to keep up with all of them.

yes, this is her "famous" father- all the family will live now in Israel...

Why Israel? Just wondering if there are family ties or something...

Also, didn't Peer have to do Army Service or something which is required for all Israeli athletes? How will this fit in, (confusing question, sorry, I mean what is the status of EL's citizenship, etc.)

she had a lot of ability so hopefully she's over the problems that took her away before. Israel will be a pretty tough team if Peer and Linetskaya play fed cup.

She is Jewish. She always played with "Star of David" necklace ;)

Anyway, the obligation to serve the army is usually for the ones who borned in Israel. Of course she can serve in the army if she wants, but to do so she'll need to voulnteer to the army. She's not have to join the army ;)

Also nice to know she won't have to do army service, I wasn't sure how that all worked out in Israel... Thanks for your help :worship:

Evgenya is very lucky to get two of the best coaches in Israel, Yaakov and Higer worked with Peer since she was 12 and brought her to the level she is today.
BTW Higer was or still is the fitness coach of Groenefeld

anyway good luck!

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/6594/sportpq6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)This is very good news. Evgenia looks great. She is a terrific little fighter with lots of talent. I saw her at Memphis and San Diego 2005. I got a picture with her at San Diego the day she was leaving (I hadn't heard anything about the 'incident'); she was sweet.

It seems she has reconciled with her family, which is good. I hope her father has learned something as well. I had spoken with him over the course of 3 days in San Diego, while she was practicing. I did not sense any problems between them at that point. I was shocked when I read, a couple months later, about what happened a day or two later, in fact the day before I had my picture with her.

Did the article say anything about her father?

Welcome back, Zhenya! :bounce: I hope you're ready in time for Memphis.
