Though Nicole reached Roland Garros semis and finished the year in Top-10 she still hasn't made it to the final of Tier I or Tier II during her fairly short career. When will she break through? Your thoughts?
When will Vaidisova reach her first final at Tier II or above?AnnaK_4ever Dec 29th, 2006, 01:49 AM Though Nicole reached Roland Garros semis and finished the year in Top-10 she still hasn't made it to the final of Tier I or Tier II during her fairly short career. When will she break through? Your thoughts? goldenlox Dec 29th, 2006, 01:55 AM She has plenty of time. When Sharapova played Wimbledon in 2004, she had never reached a semi besides Tier III's. Vaidisova Dec 29th, 2006, 01:58 AM Maybe before RG... Here's her schedule as of right now: Sydney Australian Open Indian Wells Miami Charleston She reached 7 SF this year but went 1-6. Losing to Schiavone, Kuznetsova, Clijsters twice, and Petrova twice. :( goldenlox Dec 29th, 2006, 02:00 AM That's a tough schedule she's got. LudwigDvorak Dec 29th, 2006, 02:03 AM It's a very spare schedule. There's like two months between Australia and California. Edit: But I'm sure she'll get into more things between them. It's tough, but she's good. SvetaPleaseWin. Dec 29th, 2006, 02:14 AM before RG shes playing more and more of the big tournies and shes bound to start winning the semis sooner or later PatrickRyan Dec 29th, 2006, 02:15 AM Before RG 416_Man Dec 29th, 2006, 03:02 AM She needs the draw to open up at some of those events. She won't beat Justine, Maria, Petrova on most days. Best chance for her is at Indian Wells where the draws tend to open up, and she can do some damage on the American hard. selyoink Dec 29th, 2006, 03:32 AM I think she will make the semis before this years French Open. Derek. Dec 29th, 2006, 03:40 AM Before RG. She made a lot of semis, but got some tough opponents as said earlier in this thread. It's only a matter of time until she wins a big title. Then the haters have to come up with new stuff. Ben. Dec 29th, 2006, 04:37 AM I'd say she'll reach a Tier II or higher final before RG 2007, if not then at least before the YEC 2007 to be certain. Nicole's still gotta lot to prove in 2007 & she will deliver. Slumpsova Dec 29th, 2006, 06:05 AM seriously i don't see her reaches the final in the 5 tournaments above even i desparately want to. those tournament are tough. hopefully Nicole changes her mind about playing some more after Melbourne especially on hard court outdoor at the Middle East which fits her game the best. Neptune Dec 29th, 2006, 11:50 AM But if she decided to have a tough shedule mean she has high expectation. She knows her capacities more than anybody.:) Kim's_fan_4ever Dec 29th, 2006, 11:55 AM Before RG Viktymise Dec 29th, 2006, 11:57 AM Im thinking very soon, before RG Nicolás89 Dec 29th, 2006, 12:48 PM maybe will be sooner than we thought or maybe a litle bit later:sad: now she is just a semisova but she will be soon a winnisova you will see:p :D disco_rage Dec 29th, 2006, 01:56 PM I do think Nicole Vaidisova will definately win a Tier I or II this season... When i'm not sure, but soon! jazar Dec 29th, 2006, 02:05 PM very soon indeed SIN DIOS NI LEY Dec 29th, 2006, 02:08 PM 2008 Corswandt Dec 29th, 2006, 02:34 PM IIRC Nicole has a total of only 3 wins over top ten players on her whole career. She's not consistent enough to fight through a crowded draw at a big tournament yet - all the more considering her 2006 late season pattern of epic victory-blowout loss, with an additional couple of horrid first round losses. So it would depend on entering enough tournaments to increase her chances of getting a depleted field, and in the end I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't reach a single final this season. But all of this is worst case scenario, and assumes that she won't improve all that much from 2006. AnnaK_4ever Dec 29th, 2006, 03:03 PM btw, out of 22 active players who've been ranked in Top-10 only two (Nicole and Paola Suarez) managed to do it without reaching a single final of Tier II or higher tournament. Corswandt Dec 29th, 2006, 05:22 PM btw, out of 22 active players who've been ranked in Top-10 only two (Nicole and Paola Suarez) managed to do it without reaching a single final of Tier II or higher tournament. A mere statistical oddity in Suarez' case, but Nicole breaking into the top 10 this way is a clear sign of the hand of SATAN. But really - RG SF for both, right? Kart Dec 29th, 2006, 05:28 PM Surely winning five matches in a row at a grand slam is enough to equate with a tier II final ? I know not in terms of points but maybe in terms of pressure. I'm not wondering when she'll get to a high tier final as much as when she'll win one. Looking at that schedule though it would have to be a weakened field for it to happen before the French open IMHO. Vaidisova Mar 3rd, 2007, 04:59 AM Played 3 tournaments so far this year - reaching SF in 2 of them and 0-2 in those matches. :( Not sure if she will be able to make a final before RG... Indian Wells, Miami, Charleston, and apparently she's playing Berlin and Rome. mm1147 Mar 3rd, 2007, 05:12 AM as goldenlox said she has plenty of time and she is very young too. How old is she 17? Vaidisova Mar 3rd, 2007, 05:14 AM How old is she 17? yeah, she'll be 18 in April. Si_Hi Mar 3rd, 2007, 05:29 AM i say 2007 Indian Wells ;) Sexysova Mar 3rd, 2007, 06:13 AM I hope before RG :) she will play IW, Miami, Charleston, Berlin, Rome and RG :) Vaidisova Mar 29th, 2007, 02:26 AM Loss in QF/SF since 2006: Sydney (06) Tokyo (06) French Open Stanford San Diego Moscow Linz Sydney (07) Australian Open Indian Wells Miami Only 3 chances now before RG: Charleston, Berlin, Rome. Vaidisova Apr 10th, 2007, 09:06 PM Not this week. :tape: frontier Apr 10th, 2007, 09:26 PM i hope that stepfather of hers is not pushing her to play a lot,she is still too young to expect a lot from her.nicole is not a great player, she can be best described as a little bit above average.all the nineteen yr olds playing ana and safarova are special talent, until they harness this potential they will remain potentially good. jazar Apr 10th, 2007, 09:30 PM its a well know fact that vaidisova only really puts effort in for the tier III and IV and the slams. tier I and II arent important enough Tzar Apr 10th, 2007, 09:52 PM never :) mashamaniac Apr 10th, 2007, 10:03 PM maybe she'll never win any tier I title! i believe she's just made for modeling and having a rivalry with other girls off the court than on it! but that's my opinion! AnnaK_4ever Oct 8th, 2007, 10:10 PM BUMP. Sorry, I couldn't help bumping this thread after reading "Nicole'll be No.1 by Wimbledon": FERLKE Oct 8th, 2007, 11:08 PM :tape:  Havok Oct 8th, 2007, 11:15 PM Holy crap Vaidisova hasn't reached a final at a TIer II event or higher?:help: That's insanely pathetic for someone who has cracked the top 10 and does well regularly at the Slams. Heck even Golovin makes these finals, and won one!:tape: I hope she recovers 100% from her injuries and can play a full schedule next year as she would make things much more interesting with the young guard vs the old guard. @danieln1 Oct 9th, 2007, 04:44 AM Well, she´s currently the queen of tier III and below... but this is so strange, she´s just too good to have only tier III titles stevos Oct 9th, 2007, 04:51 AM Before RG. She made a lot of semis, but got some tough opponents as said earlier in this thread. It's only a matter of time until she wins a big title. Then the haters have to come up with new stuff. :o Derek. But really, it's been a shitty year for her. Without the injuries and all that I'm sure she could've. Let's go Moscow! Poova Oct 9th, 2007, 10:46 AM  She blew such a big opportunity at Charleston though to make a Tier I final. :o And I doubt it's going to happen in Moscow either. She should commit to Linz if she isn't playing already, I'm not sure how strong the field is there but it's usually very weak. lympyisthebest Oct 9th, 2007, 10:55 AM She's on the LInz entry list as well as Quebec. homogenius Oct 21st, 2007, 11:13 PM bump... Matt01 Oct 21st, 2007, 11:16 PM Probably never :p She still has one last chance for 2007, though... In The Zone Oct 22nd, 2007, 05:13 AM If she doesn't do it here, when will she ever do it? Come on Nicole. Dementieva_Dude Oct 22nd, 2007, 05:30 AM If she doesn't do it here, when will she ever do it? Come on Nicole. I agree completely! Linz is the perfect draw for her to play her way into the final, and potentially win the title. She has the talent, she just needs to put it all together. E.Dementieva_FAN Oct 22nd, 2007, 08:37 AM never? :tape: Dexter Oct 22nd, 2007, 08:57 AM Derek. Derek. Oct 22nd, 2007, 11:48 AM Yes, excuse me. I never saw two injuries and a sickness coming. Gnaag Oct 22nd, 2007, 02:00 PM Should happen next season, although winning a Tier II event or higher (not just reaching the final) is something Vaidisova should have accomplished already. And the injuries are not an excuse. Everyone suffers injuries on a regular basis in professional tennis these days. Not winning a big event at this point in her career has more to do with Vaidisova's head. But the mental side of her game is improving and she consistently gives the top players very tough matches, so a breakthrough is not too far on the horizon. AnnaK_4ever Oct 26th, 2007, 09:05 PM Another chance for Nicole tomorrow. LudwigDvorak Oct 27th, 2007, 04:49 AM Prior to this week. Cp6uja Oct 27th, 2007, 04:14 PM 0-11 in SF nowIt's still too early for panic. She is only 18... If we look last season quarterfinals of Tier-II and above - Ana Ivanovic (when she have 18) have in 2006 1-5 record, but in last 6 months (like 19 old girl) she have 6-0 in QF of tier-II or above tournaments record. No doubt for me that 2008 will be much better season for Nicole than 2007 or even 2006 - especialy her record in semis of big tournaments. hurricanejeanne Oct 27th, 2007, 06:17 PM This year has just been bizarre for Nicole.
