Tough draw.

Hoping for a Rae/Broady final but wouldn't mind it Cornish or Cunningham get there.

Thanks for posting. Jocelyn was close to beating Broady in Rohampton I think. I wonder if she pulled off the win this time?

Good to see Elliott winning the consolation, saw her at wrexham and was quite impressed with her game.

Good to see Jocelyn getting good results again, its taken her a while, hoping she gets going on the junior scene properly in 2007.

I've just emailed the LTA competitions section, so I should hopefully have the final result by tomorrow evening.

In the final, Rae was leading 5-3 in the 2nd set, but then she failed to serve out for the match. She certainly got the home support, with quite a number of her family & friends turning up to watch each day. Fortunately for her supporters they didn't put ever her on court 8, the court which is virtually impossible to watch properly due to a badly located office blocking viewing!
Apparently she was flying to Sweden yesterday for tournaments (presumably those junior ITFs that Mel South played 2 or 3 years back).

Yeah shes in a draw for a Grade 3 there this week.

Will be interesting to see the final result.

Good week for Sian! Hoping to see her play more ITF junior events and mix in some challengers along the way. Dare I say that she has passed Jennifer Ren for right now as the best 1993 born Brit? Also, nice week for Jocelyn even though she couldn't keep it up in Sweden (probably tired).

I had my reply from the LTA today. Jocelyn Rae won the final 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3).
About Bayliss & Jennifer Ren, you may have a point there. Apparently Ren was suffering from jet-lag at Nottingham, but one thing I've noticed in several matches over the last year, is that Ren can sometimes get a bit over-emotional on court (think Zvonareva / Hantuchova of 2005) and that negative body language can give the opponent a boost. Also, because she's so light-weight physically, she can struggle to cope with the bigger hitters like Broady or Rae, and of course there's a lot of them around, even at her age group, in the ITF / T.E tournaments

I think its the classis thing of a players game style.

The Rens seem to be defenders and at 11/12 they beat the other girls easily cos the others can;t out hit them and make too many errors. As they get older the girls get bigger and stronger and can hit the ball much harder.

Sian does now appear to be the top under 14 player.

the Ren's are never going to be big and physical, so they are just going to have to get used to other people out hitting them sometimes and find a way of coping
