There's only one South American tournament? Correct?

They should get some more. A lot of good players come out of Argentina.

Chicago. Such a big city not having a WTA tournament anymore makes me sad. (plus, it'd be nice to able to go to one that's so close :p)

The problem with bringing tournaments to a lot of cities is scheduling. The tournament has to be at a time when there are other tournaments relatively close by to get the largest possible number of players. Tournaments in South America by nature are only going to get some middling clay court specialists who want to escape the faster surfaces, and they can't be during the clay season because all the clay players will be in Europe.

There was a men tournament once in Vietnam would be cool to have it for women too although tourneys in Laos or Timor-Leste would be great, too :D

Then I think they need to make once South American tournament TII.And Stanford should become a TIII.

We used to have an ATP challenger in my home town of Groningen. That has disappeared and I'd love to see a tier III staged here as a replacement. We have the facilities and there would be lots of interest if they'd do a better job of promoting and staging it than they did with the men's challenger.

yes 2001 and 2002. In 2001, Testud won beating Henin in the final.

And a Tier III at that

:worship:

That's why there are only 2 South Americans in the top 100...they don't get the opportunities like the Europeans and Americans and Asians do.

What about BELGRADE ???

We have two players in top 15 (Janković 12., Ivanović 14.)... I think that Belgrade should get at least Tier II tournament!!! But there is no money :bigcry:

Atlanta should have one. I live an hour and a half away. They have a 25K challenger for mens where i might be a ballboy at..

South America deserves more of course...

I think Russia is under represented based on the quality of their players.

This sounds selfish considering all the US has but I wish Atlanta would get a summer hardcourt tournament at least...They used to have a men's claycourt tourney but that went bust I suppose. The Olympic tennis site from '96 @ Stone Mountain is still here isn't it?, seems like a waste...but the whole Southeast could use some more tourneys in the summer I think. (I'm from GA so that's why I want one in atlanta so bad ;) )

New Haven actually used to be held at Stone Mt. Peak in Georgia.

I used to have dreams about a tournament in Belgrade and some top player losing pretty badly and the headlines reading "DEGRADED IN BELGRADE"

I used to like how in the U.S. the Virginia Slims Series used to bring events to cities like Tulsa,OK,Nashville, Wichita,Oklahoma City, and Albuquerque. I wish we could still have something like that. Scottsdale should be back as should Oklahoma City.

I might add I think the ATP does a better job of spreading tournaments around than the WTA.

Although it has a nice top 1 or two players, the rest of the field is VERY weak.

Athens for sure ;)
We've got such great facilities from the Olympic Games and it's such a shame that not even a "small" tournament is being held here in Athens.
But rumours say that in the next years we will organize an ATP tournie

poland should get sopot back!!!

russia should get a tier II (st. petersburg) as "alomst every" player in the top 100 is russian ;)

usa should lose two tournaments (tier I and II) and at least two of them should go to south america, buenos aires and sao paulo.

italy should get a tier III in milan or venice.

bulgaria should get a tier IV is sofia.
