I think Australian women's tennis has a chance to pick up in 2007. We have Sam in the top 30, Alicia getting ready to make a huge comeback and Dellacqua chasing the top 100. If we have three players in the elite group of players, doing well at Fed Cup will certainly be a possibility.

And if Jelena finds any form (it's a huge "if"), we could have 4 top 100 players by the end of the year. I don't think the standard is half as bad as people make out.

The problem is there is no depth. A good friend of mine knows a lot of the people high up in Tennis Australia and apparently there are pretty much no genuine prospects coming up aside from one male player.

But yes if Molik and Dokic get back to any semblance of their old form then we become a strong nation in women's for the next 5 years or so.

Yeah hopefully Molik and Dokic can return in 2007 and Sam can make top 20. Hopefully Dellacqua and Moore (West Aussies!!) can increase their rankings :)

Btw KimC&MariaSNo1's shouldn't you change your sig to saying:

LOOK OUT 4 ANASTASIA PAVLYUCHENKOVA IN 2007 not 2006 seeing as 2006 is over?

Molik has more chance to get back than Dokic (who's kinda in "no mans land" at the moment)...but Aussie tennis isn't looking too good at the moment - compare to how it used to be.

:haha:

Apart from maybe Alicia (hopefully) I don't think there will be much improvement with the Aussie girls next year.

I can't really see Sam going much higher in the rankings than she is now, I'll be surprised if she cracks the top 20 and Dokic probably won't get anywhere near the top 100.
