BRUSSELS, Belgium: Justine Henin-Hardenne was voted Belgian sportswoman of 2006 on Sunday, her third title in the last four years.

Henin-Hardenne, 24, won the French Open, and returned from injury to take the WTA Championship and finish with the No. 1 ranking last month. She reached the final of every Grand Slam this year, losing in Australia, at Wimbledon and in the United States.

Henin-Hardenne also was part of the Fed Cup team which reached this year's final, only to lose to Italy when she injured herself in the deciding match. She succeeds Kim Clijsters as sportswoman of the year.

Henin-Hardenne beat sprinter Kim Gevaert and high jumper Tia Hellebaut in the poll of sports journalists.

Motocross world champion Stefan Everts won the men's title ahead of cyclist Tom Boonen.

Yeah, and I'm sure Justine owning Kim over the past few years and Kim retiring (snicker) in 2007 had something to do with the jealous Kim fan's tourette's.

But anyway, congrats Justine! You are the best Belgium has to offer the sporting world!

This caps off a fine year for her.

Without the illness and injury it could have been remarkable.
