Go Alicia. Win it for us :bounce:

This is so great that Alicia is getting match practice. Also at the Hopman Cup she will get at least 3 singles and 3 mixed doubles matches!!

Well done to Alicia, although if she doesn't win this event, I'm sure she'll still get a wildcard. I mean, come on, she's the best Asutralian player by a long way, I don't care what the rankings say.

You obviously haven't seen her play lately then. Before her illness she was by far the best Aussie player, but at the moment, she's not back to her old game just yet (I was at her match yesterday against Wlodarczak). But yes, even if Alicia doesn't win this, they should give her a WC.

No, I haven't seen her play since she lost to Davenport in the 2005 Australian Open! How did she play exactly when you saw her yesterday?

In the first set, she made ALOT of errors, she was lucky at the end of the set, Karo just threw it away with 3 doubles in the game when she was serving to level at 5 all. I missed then next 4 games, coz I went to see how the other scores were. I came back and it was 4-0 to ALicia in the second. I'm guessing that Karo just capitulated after that horrible last game in the 1st set. But Alicia served for it at 5-0 and dropped serve, then Karo held...then Alicia finally served it out again. But ALicia certainly wasn't playing as well as she could have, and she got pretty lucky in the second set - even in the service games of Karo I saw in the second, she didn't serve well.

I suppose she's not fully over the time she spent away. Looks like she must have played better in this match though. She'll probably get better as the month goes by. She has to play Petrova and Venus at the Hopman Cup, so that will give her a bit of extra practice against better opponents.

Yeah, I really hope she can get back to her old form. She's such a nice person, she deserves some luck!

Don't worry about her getting back to her old form, it's matter of "when", not "if". I hope she wins all her matches at the HC, as you said, she deserves some luck, and is an extremely nice, down to earth person.

It's funny that someone like Alicia Molik has to fight for the WC. She should get it without any hesitation from the organisers.

Woohooo Alicia!! :worship: On the news before they had a quick chat with her after her match. "Thje conditions out there today were alot better and suited to me I think, it was hotter so the balls were bouncing up higher and I got more kick on my serve". She looks pretty stress free (nothing unusual about that though ;) )...GL in the semi's!!!

Its awesome that Alicia is taking the initiative and competing for the wildcard spot, I think she knew that if she didnt compete here there would be about a 90% chance of her getting a main draw wildcard anyway.

Glad alicia has chosen to take part in the WC play-off & actually try to earn her WC by winning matches rather than being given it hands down (not sayin she doesn't deserve it even if she's given it hands down though cause she's achieve great success in the game). it will give her the feeling that she has earnt it & that she can go in to the aussie open knowing what she can do.
