Although she lost, mine has to be the wimbledon final 2005 against venus. it had it all: two great champions battling it out, match points on both sides, injury, high quality power hitting with winners, drama

i will also remember her 1999 quarter-final win over pierce at the US open. saving those match points and grinding it out to the end. great fighting from a defending champion

such a clean striker of the ball

that sound she makes with her racquet is unmatched

When she defeated Kim at the French last year. Unbelievable. I didn't get up to livescore it because I was so nervous. When I did, and I checked the scores on wtatour.com, I fell to the floor in shock when it said Lindsay won. It was the only match she's ever won (in my time period of being a fan--Sept. 03) that I literally was running through the house as if I were a 5 year old on Christmas morning.

And the last gut match she won, against Srebotnik at the Open this year. Absolutely living and dying with every point. Classic stuff.

That's what I'll miss the most.

Of the ones that I've seen, it would have to be her win over Kim at Wimbledon in 2005, amazing quality from start to finish (apart from the slight wobble in the second set :p ), followed by the Wimbledon final that year (God, that was some fortnight  )

Third, for the hell of it, the double bagel ;)

Yes, I too was supporting Graf but Davenport's serve was so perfect and beautiful that day! Steffi seemed a bit stiff but still, Lindsay closed the deal that day with rigor! :hearts:

def. Serena 64 62 at the 2000 US Open quarter finals.

Probably her best match against a Williams sister. Lindsay was consistently aggressive, she was consistently pegging Serena behind the baseline and taking it to her.

Considering she was like 1-5 against Serena at the time, and Serena was the defending champ, it was a huge win (even though Lindsay was ranked higher)

In terms of coming out in a big match and just dominating in a crushing fashion that only Lindsay can:

Aus Open 2000: Def Hingis 6-1 7-5 (until 6-1 5-1 it was just terrifying the way she was hittting the ball)

Def Sharapova IW 05 6-0 6-0

Def Serena 6-1 6-3 SD 04

in terms of a high drama, high quality epic battle

The Wimbledon Final vs Venus :worship:

def Venus 7-6 5-7 7-6 stanford 04

lost to serena 6-3 6-7 7-5 uso 01 some of the hardest hitting ive ever seen

I've always loved this picture. It summed up her personality perfectly.

-1998 Chase Champs Final - Hingis def. Davenport 7-5, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2
-2004 Stanford Final - Davenport def. Venus 7-6, 5-7, 7-6
-2005 Wimbledon Final - Venus def. Davenport 4-6, 7-6, 9-7

But my favorite one is the 2005 Australian Open quarterfinal, when Davenport defeated Molik in a thriller 6-4, 4-6, 9-7:worship: Awesome match:worship:! She also lost some thrillers to Hingis in Zurich 2000 and Sydney 2001, but her best matches according to me were her wins over Hingis in the 1999 Chase Champs final and the 2000 Australian Open final;)!

My favorite Lindsay matches are:

98 US open open Semi final - she beat Venus in straight sets alway enjoy a Willams sister beating

98 US Open final - First grand slam
99 Wimbledon final - Beat Steffi at the last slam you would expect her to and proved she was no one slam wonder
00 OZ open semi final - Got to see my two faves go head to head in a slam
00 OZ open final - She proved she trurly belonged

On a personal level it would be at Wimbledon 6-0 1-0 ret win over Brandi - I was at the match and it was the first and only time I had seen Lindsay in person and I have NEVER seen anyone hit the ball like Lindsay. Brandi wasnt a 100% but Davenport was playing so well it was such a joy to watch.

I loved the AI final with Farina Elia because it was such a great match between my two favourite players.

and the double bagel will always bring a smile to my face

 So many people name the Wimbledon final 05. I can't, even it was good but it hurts so much to see her lose after having matchpoint. So my favourites are:

INDIAN WELLS SF 2003 Davenport-Capriati (Lindsay played and moved unbelievably and hit more than 50 winners!!!)

STANFORD 2004 Final Davenport-Venus Williams (great hitting and great atmosphere with the audience, close until the last point)

Wimbledon 2005- 4th Round Davenport-Clijsters (one of the best grass matches of the last years).

Stanford 04 Venus def Lindsay

Amelia Island 2004, 2005 finals....although the matches might not be for the history books I'm proud to have watched Lindsay win two of her esteemed titles. This is the place where I met her, where I got her autograph and where I got to watch her practice as well. I can't believe she's done. She's by far my favorite athlete on the planet. No one will replace her for me, I wish her well in all she pursues and I'm emensely happy for her and John with the pregnancy!

The 2004 Stanford final is my favorite. That match marked the beginning of a huge winning streak and she looked like she really loved the game again in terms of her body language on court in 2004-2005 compared to 2002 and on.

99 Wimbledon final: That serve down the line at match point against Graf was a glorious moment.

98 U.S. Open final: Her first Grand Slam win. She took it to Martina Hingis that day and won that match.

96 Olympic final: The day I became a fan of hers. She was still kinda overweight but made Aranxta look like an amatuer that day. I was happy for days.....

04 Stanford final: That match against Venus brought Lindsay back to the top and she never really looked back til the injuries came back. True Venus couldn't hit forehands to save her life but Lindsay never wavered either.

I already said that I would love to see the Gold Medal Match from 1996, but of the ones I have seen:
