Na was leading 5-2 at second set, but Iroda fought back till 5-5.

In final set Iroda was leading 2-0. Na has won last 6 games of the match

Na took her revenge  :rocker2:

She will play Sania Mirza probably in semis.

Iroda

GL in the doubles :)

:D Not to worry! Na is still a very good player who is ranked alot higher than Iroda, this match shows that she can stay in a match and fight to take matches to 3 sets against players of Na's calibre. I think this is a very positive scoreline for Iroda, I just wish I could see a few more pics of her! Hopefully Iroda & Akgul can do some damage in the doubles though! ;)

na li's legs were wrapped tightly  :tears:

she required her match to be on the Court no.7 (she lost to iroda in women team) again as she wanted to gain back her confidence. she did :)

staying fit is Iri's criteria for 2007, if she is, then she'll be around top 20 at end.

Overally it's a wonderful match!

Na made so many forehand errors in 1st set.
Iroda often sliced balls to Na's forehand, and Na would returned long. :help:

Iroda is so experienced that she was changing her strategy all the time in the match, and attempted to break Na's tempo in 1st set.Sometimes she's a good defensive player.Gaining points just by waiting for Na's UEs.But sometimes she can be very aggressive, and keep hitting deep and big-angled balls.:yeah:

Na couldn't get used to Iroda's game. She played impatiently and carefully. So she didn't have many winners as usual in 1st set.

Na tried to make some differences in 2nd set,and became more patient. She picked up her old game and often made backhand winners.:) Na wasted two SPs when she leads 5-3 40-15.Luckily she won 2nd set 7-5.

Iroda broke Na's game at the beginning of 3rd set,and she had chance to lead 3-0(She was leading 2-0* 40-30).Na bravely came to net and saved the BP.Na played more confident and won 5 games in a row after that.

I'm not dissapointed with the loss :)
A year ago who would have thought Iroda would be beating a player ranked number 21 in the world.
I'm just looking forward to AO 07

I watched the whole match
and Na just had so many ridiculous UEs
weak 1st serve as well
Iroda showed some amazing defense and she also displayed very strong serve though with very low 1st percentage
neither of them is in the best shape but the match is really breathtaking
kinda worried about Na if she keeps doing like this when facing Mirza

It looks like none of the Chinese players has a good slice on the backhand
I think that's partly why Na felt difficulties in dealing with the slice shot from Iroda

I watched the match too...... I laughed my head off when the stupid chinese commentator kept saying how wonderful Li Na's forehand is. Seriously, it's the most basic thing about Li Na, play her forehand and she will make a ton of errors on that side. I'm not sure what is it about Na's forehand, but it just looks awkward....anyone have any opinions on that subject? I think she makes so many more forehand errors because she hits the ball late on that side.

On a side note, Nick Bolleteri is famous for mixing up forehands and backhands like the commentator. I've read Bolleteri's report on Golovin many times, and every time he says Golovin has a huge backhand. Even the casual tennis fan would see that Golovin has the much better forehand.

so you know Chinese? I feel like Na is much more consistent on the backhand too. It seems like all the Chinese players are better on that side. Don't know why.
