Trivial Pursuit

Teams of 2-4 people
Each team selects a team name and team captain
Team Captain is responsible to check PM, discuss questions with all team members and then send the answers back within 3 days
10 rounds, 11 questions per round (1 from each category)
1 point for every correct answer, half marks available for if the answer is partly correct but not fully (note I will not give you answers for the round until the end of the competition, although I may ask your team to justify one of its answers)
You have 3 days from when the questions are first sent to complete the round of questions
A bonus point to the first team that sends answers back - time is taken from when the PM is first opened by the team captain (not from when its been sent)
Top 3 teams make it to the ultimate challenge round 11
You are allowed to consult external sources (friends and Google) however you may only submit once answer per question (as you will see on Google the answers differ ALOT).

kittyking
Nov 29th, 2006, 10:25 PM
Nothings confirmed at this stage however it will likely be run over a number a number of nights/days. I will send out a PM to the team captains and also post a thread in non tennis about it with all the questions for that round. I will only accept the answers from the first member of every team (so if you are online as soon as I send the questions you may be better off leaving some answers for questions your not completely sure about). The first teams to get all the questions correct for that round will recieve bonus points. After a set number of rounds some teams will be eliminated and this will continue through until we have the final three teams who will then have the real challenge round :tape:

That's what I'm wondering. Do we pick the teams? Are questions sent via PM and we have timed responses? Do we all gather at the same time in this thread...etc, etc.

Dave - I just noticed you live in Montreal. Did you go to the Rogers Cup this summer?

The questions are gathered from a wide arrange of sources, quite alot of it actually came from the library here. Im sure that you may be able to find some of the answers under google, although you have to remember you cant believe everything you read off the web.........

If I the answer I have given is different from your teams you do have the right to appeal, although you must provide evidence to back up your statement

Personally I think we should try to set up a chat room at a set time to have the questioning rounds or whatever take place, making a specific meeting time and whatnot. That's what was done for the Weakest Link game a bunch of us were playing at one point. That way answers can be monitored and on some type of a time limit so it makes it (almost) impossible to cheat.

I think that will be alittle difficult as there are alot of people from Australia, Europe and North America - all in different timezones

I have just tested 10 questions on google and askjeeves and on only 2 occasions did it actually give me a good resource to find the appropriate answer - on 8/10 times it came out with an answer of some sort but 6 of these times the answer was wrong.

Im not one thats opposed to looking it up on the internet, I just think that for some questions you will have to take a guess at them in the end - unless your a genius or have one in your team ;)

There will be a time limit placed on each round, so you may not want to spend too long looking each question up on the internet

Depends if it costs your team the championship (in which case you may need health insurance  )

After a set number of rounds some teams will be eliminated and this will continue through until we have the final three teams who will then have the real challenge round

-The format seems fair enough.
-Regarding entertainment categories, are the questions going yo be US-centric?

Cheers,

Carlos

Most questions could fit into more than one category, currently the entertainment questions are based around movies and the gossip behind music

yes so the team mates could arrange to meet up at a decent time for them all, and then the PM could be opened by them when they're together :yeah:
