Well, I'll post here and proudly!

Regarding Flemish vs. Dutch, isn't it interesting that those who insists on calling it Flemish tend to be Belgian, and those who call it Dutch are Dutch?

Shall we just piss 'em both off and go back to calling it Low German? (Which is also the ancestor of English).

Happier now Dani? :wavey:

Great idea Dani :)

And shame on those who knew about the offtopic threads (including me) there's gotta be a offtopic thread from me floating around here as well somewhere.....

Hey Alenyaa

Since you're Dutch, i do have a question...

As you might know the Tweede Kamer (soz mates, i dont know the english word at the mo) elections are coming up next Wednesday November 22...

As Dutchman living in Belgium, Are you allowed to vote?, i pressume if you are and if you'll vote, you'll do it by post...

I really hope this government we have now (CDA, VVD) rolls over and we'll get a much better government then we have now, the governments policy and especially their foreign policy (ag. immagration) hasn't been good at all, all they did was caring about the Economics and the upperclass, and they bartered away the lower class ppl, foreign ppl, schools and educations etc.....

Really hope the PVDA gets back into the government again along with a leftwinged coalition (i dream about SP, Groen Links & PVDA) though the gaugings at the moment aren't that good for the wished coalition...
Dreaded CDA with mr. Balkenende aka mr. BalkenELLENDE, Mr. Potter leads again offcourse, another 4 years with them on our backs again, will help Holland to pieces IMO.

As you might noticed i am left winged thinking and voting so my vote will go either to the SP (Socialistic Party --> Du: Socialistische (sp?) Partij
or GroenLinks (Eng: GreenLeft  )
I'll never vote rightwinged in my lifetime, i really hate some of those parties (esp VVD, LPF, PVV, Eén NL)

Planet Internet, a dutch commercial  , not sure where to find it cuz i couldn't find it on youtube, it was the Gouden Loeki winnaar Last year ;)

BTW speaking about that commercial, have you ever seen this dutch commercial by Douwe Egberts, i was sure it would win the Gouden Loeki, but it didnt even get nominated...

Pity its not in English though, and you have to understand the Dutch humour, but still a look worth

Well as all know finnish metal. But I tried some Swedish and Norwegian and Russian and it fucking rock. Currently listening to Immortall (black metal from Norway) and Naglfar (melodic death/black from Sweden) Well tried also Russian pagan metal (Arkona and Pagan Reign) and German In Extremo (folk).
Finnish metal - well there is so many bands that it's no place to write them all. But will try: Ajattara, Amorphis, Apocalyptica, Avathar, Catamenia, Celesty, Charon, Children of Bodom, Eternal tears of sorrow, Entwine, Ensiferym, Finntroll, HIM, Negative, Lullacry, Nightwish, LORDI, Sonata Arctica, TO/DIE/FOR, Stratovarius, Terasbetoni, Vigrid, Vordven, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Tarot, Wyrd, The 69eyes. Well probably I forgot about others ;)
Once I lestend to Mexican Serpenta (power metal) and it was nice.
And want to try old school chineese death metal - it can be interesting :p

What about polish bands Paco? Poland always produces some great stuff, there are Vader, Dies Irae, Behemoth, Arkona, Lux Occulta, Selbstmord, Graveland, Profanum and many more. I also remember great pagan/folk project called Slavland, which according to lyrics should be polish, but I am not sure.
From Finland I like Horna, Behexen, Beherit, older Moonsorrow or Korpiklaani. But IMO Norway is far ahead, there are the best metal musicians.

And speaking of Dutch, I was watching this new game show called "Show me the Money" hosted by William Shatner (won't last a month on the air, but I digress).

Anyhoo, the 1st contestant is a gay dude and, curiously enough, he get's asked what's the 1st country to accept same-sex marriages. So you imagine he'll get it; it's a question tailor-made for him. Naturally, he thinks of Amsterdam. So he're doing fine--apparently. But then, this crazy idea that Amsterdam is in DENMARK crosses his mind and he sticks to it and makes it his final answer. I'll bet he now wishes he had actually put some atention in his geography lessons...Anyways, in the end he got back on track and made $590,000. Not too shabby.

By the way, my mother is a virgin.

Cheers,

Carlos

Since you like progressive rock/metal (Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Placebo), I was wondering if you ever heard about Stream of Passion. It is a project by Dutch musician/composer Arjen Lucassen, who is probably best known for his project Ayreon.
For Stream of Passion the Mexican musicians Marcela Bovio and Alejandro Millán from the band Elfonia aided him (amongst others).
If you're interested, you should check out the site www.streamofpassion.com. You can also find some downloads there.

Rafa lost, but at least at the very end we saw shades of the old Rafa. He should be ready to roll in next year's Aussie Open.

As to Blake, he's playing at his highest level. With James, it's all mental; he has the game to beat the Fed. It's just a matter of him not choking when ahead (as he did in the Indian Wells finals when 2 breaks up in the 1st set) or getting down on himself (as he did after losing the 1st set tie-break in the US Open Qtrs), both against the Fed-minator.

He will someday beat Federer. Tomorrow is as good a chance as he'll ever have. Granted, the Swiss Mister should be the prohibitive favorite, but if Blake can manage to maintain his mental toughness--a big if!--, he could very well win a high-quality 4-setter against Roger (if it goes to 5, it's over; Blake is 0-10 in matches that go the distance).

If Fed wins, he'll definitely put the finishing touches on one of the finest seasons in the history of the game: 3 Slams, a final at RG, a record-tying 4 MS shields--to go with 2 other finals appearences, 16 finals reached out of 17 tourneys entered, an undefeated Masters Cup win, and a sterling 92-5 win-loss mark. All that, if he wins tomorrow.

Should be a dandy of a match!

No probs :)

Well Dani usually round this time its around 8 C here, but yesterday it was around 17 c so way too warm for the time of the year....

I wish we had freezing cold winters around -10 again cuz the last years its been between 1 and 5 c with some snow (most in March when it should be really warm again, last year we had 2 meters of snow, so late in the winter, which was a record) we recorded as well yesterday a record again, the highest temp was 18.9 in Maastricht (most southern city of Neth.)

Its been as well long since there's was an elfstedentocht http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfstedentocht where Holland is most famous about as well as our speedskating on Nature ice.....

Last was in 1997, but its been to warm in the winter for real ice ever since....., hoping on some ice and lots of snow this year again though...

well post the rest tomorrow ;)

Dani,

Just go to your first post of the thread, post #1 and edit that post, click on advanced or go advanced and you'll get a title bar with the title of the thread written in it, there you can change it ;)

Well why don't we have is more like asking why we don't have a offtopic thread, like asking the posters why we don't have one

if you say why we don't have a offtopic thread its more like explaining why we don't have one..., you can also change the intonation and intone the sentence different, then you get a more sarcastical sentence, why we didn't have one until now ;)

i like the second option better, the way we don't have an offtopic thread, it sounds a lil sarcastic, becuz we hadn't one :p

Hope you get it, its difficult for me to explain it in English as well, much clearer in Dutch but who cares :p

Last Night i was watching a Chilean film, which was broadcasted on the Dutch TV, called Taxi para tres, do any of our spanish speaking friends, know more about this movie, or give their meanings about the movie? (Word Life?)

Haven't seen the movie, but you can read about it following this friendly link:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0291507/

(When in doubt, ALWAYS check the Internet Movie Database). :)

Dani:

I would love to see snow.....I have never seen snow .(not real snow something that we call "helada" some frozen water that fall in the night to make the morning white..........but is not real snow) I want to play with snow
Snow is really nice, specially when it falls overnight and schools are forced to cancel classes the next day. Tuning the TV early in the chillingly-cold morning and being informed that school will be closed for the day is one of the best feelings you'll ever experience in your life!!!

On the downside, if you happen to live with uncles who have a 100 ft. drive- way, well let me just say that shoving all that snow is definitely NOT an enjoyable experience (especially for your poor achy back!!!!). :)

BTW is the quetion correct like this:
Why we don't have an off-topic thread?????
or it should be
Why don't we have an off-topic thread?????
No idea why, but the correct form is the 2nd. :)

oh dear! what have i done! i should have known better than to plant an idea in Dani D s head!!

Well Mercedes... Bollocks is a word to describe something thats not true ,or makes no sense...such as "everything they said was a load of Bollocks"

Its actually a slang word for the male genitalia otherwise known as testicles ,balls ,plums etc....

so you could say "Lena grabbed Alenyaa by the bollocks and lifted him off the ground"

Also its used as a general swearword such as "Oh Bollocks! I have done another double fault"

so we may here Lena using it perhaps?

I hope this clears it up ,I think its a word only used in the U.K normally..

Its kinda funny seeing it in a thread title tho ,will our Legal Advisor Slokid remove it or let it be? hehe

After being ditched by our Dynamic, Non-Lesbian, Turtle-Crazy, Too-Smart-4-You, Resident Femme Fatale Duo (Mercedes and Dani, of course), a few of us (Word_Life, Alenyaa and Prize Idiot) have formed a Trivia Team, that'll be participating in a mighty contest of wits to be held soon (see thread in "Non-Tennis" section of the boards).

Since this thread is designed precisely to post bollocks of this sort, the idea is to help us decide on a great name for the team. Here are a few suggestions. Feel free to add ideas yourself or comment on which name you like best.

(I think we should go for a funny and wacky--yet cool and witty--one).

--Knights of the Apocalipshit***
--Nuns with Guns
--Brats who Know Squat
--Brains on 'Roids
--Wise 2 the Bone
--Cogito Ergo Fuck
--Bunnies with Condoms
--Carpe Pussy
--In Beer Veritas
--Santa's Minions

And my own personal favorites:

--Charnock's Bollocks
--Sharapova's Dildo

*** Or, alternatively, Fantastic 4 Knights of the Apocalipshit (coz I love the F4!).

Cheers, Merry Xmas and Joyeux Noel, all rolled into one,

Carlos

Cap, since this event is great PR for the ship, Alenyaa will have to be excused from painting duty, so he can duly prepare himself for the upcoming Trivia Challenge, and upheld the SS Dementieva's hard-earned tradition of excellence.

(Don't worry, I'm pretty sure Mercedes and Dani are more than able to cover for him!).

Announcement 2: Trivia Challenge

Anyone else interested in participating in the Trivia game? We may have to re-organize our team, since the new and improved Dani (now she doesn't have bollocks!!!) wants to join, and I already had invited her to participate prior to completing the roster.

Now we need 3 Trivia Buffs so we can split into 2 teams of 4 participants each. Any takers?

Well here are my fave Radiohead songs with clips of Youtube,

Creep, the first ever hit of them and the strange thing is that it was only a demo that they never would bring out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYWYXcN9KUY

How To Disappear Completely, one of the great songs i love, love the lyrics love the melody, live this song is the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzcYGyqm7oU

Sit Down, Stand Up, not sure this videoclip is ever made by them but coming from the Hail To The Thief Album (Dedicated to mr. Bush as protest), let you see the bad things we can do with bombs to hurt innocent children and peope, makes you realise many things: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEfRPW5n0NI

Street Spirit (Fade Out), Absurdistic clip prob the first with those technics see article about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Spirit Thom Yorke said about this song, that he didn't write it, but the song did itself, this is what he said about the song: "Our fans are braver than I to let that song penetrate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penetrate) them, or maybe they don't realise what they're listening to. They don't realise that Street Spirit is about staring the fucking devil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil) right in the eyes, and knowing, no matter what the hell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell) you do, he'll get the last laugh. And it's real, and true. The devil really will get the last laugh in all cases without exception, and if I let myself think about that too long, I'd crack. I can't believe we have fans that can deal emotionally with that song. That's why I'm convinced that they don't know what it's about. It's why we play it towards the end of our sets. It drains me, and it shakes me, and hurts like hell everytime I play it, looking out at thousands of people cheering and smiling, oblivious to the tragedy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragedy) of its meaning, like when you're going to have your dog put down and it's wagging its tail on the way there. That's what they all look like, and it breaks my heart. I wish that song hadn't picked us as its catalysts, and so I don't claim it. It asks too much. I didn't write that song."
See the clip itself here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPX3u0XJzKM

Fake Plastic Trees, one of my all time fave, a beautiful song, from silent, to booming and then again silent, live this song is prob the best Radiohead song ever made... here are the official videoclip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k04XilcNWVo and the live version from Glastonbury 2003 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkltAgcpa_c

Together with Placebo's Follow The Cops Back Home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otw13qJGFc0
and Placebo's Blind : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wsR5AbN4S8 live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivGfeWjY1HA
it forms my all time fave song top 7....

I know Lacuna Coil but prefer much harder stuff.
Those types of jigs have their own audience and it's not common to see a "normal" person there. You just don't expect to meet people who "obviously don't belong there" that's why all those looks. But Lacuna Coil is more and more popular amongst youngsters who are not into metal otherwise (or do you listen to other bands?) so I wouldn't be surprised to see you in their jig (or anyone dressed like you).
When me and my mates go to a jig, we are always wearing black, despite of that usually are nice and friendly. Well, you may meet some morons of course but that might happen anywhere.

At least in CR, "fresa" is not only with money, but who superficially showcases how much they got; someone like a daddy's boy / girl. A good example would be Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde or Alicia Silverstone in Love Actually.

Don't know if that's the usage Mercedes was alluding to.

In any case, Dani es definitivamente una fresa!!!

"Dark boy/girl" heh, that sounds funny, I never thought about it that way. If i can use this term I used to be a dark boy in my teenage times - witchcraft, dark rituals, horrors, heaven and hell, deep forests in the night etc. - but not anymore (some would probably argue about it :o ) Now it is only about drinking with the bands and looking 'evil', which is not so bad either.

Altair made his/her description of "the jig" quite accurately, but since we are talking about rock/metal music the term concert is the most convenient.

I recommend you to wear black dress if you don't wanna endure those people's looks and stupid comments next time. Mayhaps you are going to like being 'full in black'. :)

Oh come on¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ You are chezc and the women of your country are gorgeous............why would you want to see the butt of a Méxican when you have a lot of pretty butt to see in your country?????????????

There is no point of comparision with a mexican girl and a czhech girl.

I don't feel that bad anymore today we all the mexicans have a reason to celebrate.
Its december 12 and today is the 475 birthday of our mother, our saver, our protective, our virgin the Virgin of Guadalupe:worship: :worship: .
She is by far the most valuable and important thing that my country has.
I will dear to say that she is way more important for us than God or Christ himself I'm pretty sure about that.
And we could care less(nos vale madres) of the people that say she is not real and that the history of her aparition was made up by the spanish..hell NO¡¡¡¡¡ there is soo many details about her image that its impossible to believe that she was painted by someone ITS IMPOSSIBLE¡¡¡¡¡
The devotion for her reach fanatism sometimes more than 40 millions of Méxicans visit her in the "Basílica de Guadalupe" Mèxico city.
And every single church of the country is full of people that want to pay a tribute to her.......that was my case today me and my mom went to the "villita" we could even walk crusehd by almost 200 200 people wanting to get into the chruch (when the population of Pachuca is about300 000 people)
Fireworks everywhere.................I love i¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Its really really impresive what we are willing to do for her:worship:.
Some people go way over the top sometimes.

In my case I'm not a very religius girl, I went to a catholic school for ten yearts and that's it I don't go to church very often....lets say tat I'm a nornal catholic.....................but if there is something in the world that I believe and love even when I haven't see it.............that only thing I trust in is her and no one else...my virgencita morena.

 lost the track here Capt...?

Well with the Christmas days and new years eve coming up soon, it might be interesting to know what ur traditions, culture of celebrating is with Christmas and New Years eve...

Well we always have a decorated Christmas tree, we put it up in the last days for Christmas, then we put up some christmas lights in the conifers and trees outside (its getting every year more crazed with the christmas lights outside the houses, its a very commercialised thing, but pleasant to see as well...)
Our tradition is that we always come together with all our family( my own family, my Uncles & Aunts, Cousins and my Grandma) on Christmasday and eat together, everyone brings a selfmade dish and then we celebrate, boxing day we do alot of games and take a walk sometimes....., also we make crowns of things from the gardens (from conifers and stuff) and we hang then inside and on the frontdoors..
We write Christmascards and send them away offcourse ;)
Do a lot of shopping in the supermarkets before Christmas, always very busy @ the supermarkets...

With New Years eve we bake oil-dumplings and apple turnovers, we buy our fireworks offcourse (if you ask me it'll be one hell of a bangin' new years eve this year with all the illegal stuff litten off already) at 29,30 and 31 December, we buy champagne and drink it at 12 when the new year is there, and we always invite acquaintances, our they invite us to come and celebrate it together, and we listen to the traditional Top 2000 on Radio 2, starting from Boxing day to just a few minutes before the new year, the no.1 will be played then (Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen) so all a cosy time to look much forward to :)

In México we really celebrate the christmas season.
Everything starts since december 12 the day of our virgin I mencioned already something about the "Lupe-Reyes" Marathon:lol:
We celebrate since december 12 until Jnauary 6:angel: .
The Posadas.... I remember that Carlos asked me what are the posadas well the posadas is a Mexican tradition and well.. here you are an wikipedia article:
Spanish:
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Posadas
English: It doesn't say the same as in the Spanish article and the Spanish article is more acurated.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posadas

The posadas's song.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedir_posada

Then in December 24 of course the x-mas eve.......it doesn't change from any other place you know the normal stuff be with your family, dress up nice, look pretty, drink. .....I'm going to say how its in my family ........................we always break piñatas full of money then we have dinner many food: lasagna, turkey, frijoles, pambazos, romeritos, lomo, chalupas, and even tacos then the toast where every member of my family speaks starting from the oldest one my grandpa until my 6 year old cousin we wish each other health and love then we ex-change gifts and after that all the cousins(only girls
) have to go and ance with my gradnpa and then I go to smkoe with 3 of my cousins and talsk drink vodka........................................... and when everybody is drunk we start to sing..............different tipes of songs romantics, "the it songs" and Méxican folk songs......and then everydoby starts to cry when the song of "Amor etreno" sounds......... that song alongside Tracy's theme was my grandmother favorites song and she is death now................so everyone remembers her and tears come out like rivers.
Its always the adults with the adults and the cosuins with the cousins.

End of part one there is more to come but I have no time I take way too long time in trying to express myself.

Well there were some chances of seeing the Northernlights again here last night (especially around midnight) happens when a sunstorm full of electric magnetic pieces from a sunspot on the Sun, hits the earth and the electric magnetic pieces collide with the sphere of the earth, then you get a massive scene with full of colours at the northern sky, nearby the big dipper...

unfortunately i didn't see anything last night, could be my 1st time after seeing it in October 2003, but oh well instead i saw four beautiful falling stars and offcourse i did my wishes, i must say that it was a good replacement instead of the Aurora Borealis :)

Anybody here? :wavey:

Well i've had a great Christmas (apart from some family issues, which is my family famous about :tape:  but lets not talk about that)

Just looking forward to new years eve...

Saturday my father and i will make some oil dumplings and apple turnovers in the shed right next to our house, and listening to the top 2000 on the Dutch Radio 2 (a family tradition ;))

Bought some fireworks already today, tomorrow again (here you can buy it only 3 days before, so Dec 28,29,30 that is, shops are closed on Dec 31, cuz its a sunday ;))
which i already ordered a few days before christmas, but i didn't count on the fireworks we still have left from last year :tape: :tape: :o :o  :p

Just curious, do you guys also buy your own fireworks and lit them off?, when i was younger i loved the crack fireworks, now i love the cheer fireworks more...

Only the predictions for new years eve don't look to good, i hate rain especially in this time of year, they predicted rain and wind, now i only hope it will be dry on the final moment, don't wanna get wet..

I remember a few new years eves that it was freezing an cold, but never had any rain, so i really hope it won't happen....

Currently listening to the top 2000, a list with 2000 songs, played by the dutch radiostation Radio 2, it a 4 days event (from boxing day 0.00 till a couple of minutes before the new year is there, when they'll play the nr. 1)
No.1 is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen....
After the journal they'll begin with no. 1068: The Beatles - Back In The U.S.S.R. (1968)

Check the whole list here: http://top2000.radio2.nl/2006/page/lijst/0

Hey guys I guess we have talk of manythings we like and I'm curious about wich are your favorite movies:

I'll tell mines:

1.- Requiem for a Dream("Requiem por un sueño"): I think its a great movie and I can't get enough of it I have watched it soo many times and everytime I found something new... and all the actors did an incredible job I still son't understand how come Julia Roberts won over Ellen Burstyn:mad: :fiery: . Jennifer Conelly and Jared Leto and even Marlon Wayans (this one is the only good movie that he has done).

2-. Clockwork Orange("Naranja Mecánica"):worship: I love it¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Graet great film.

3-. Dancing in the dark ("Bailnado en la obscuridad") I know that Lars's tecnique it may be very very bizzar and sometimes bad but this movie its a great musican not very attractive and colourful as Mouling Rouge but the girl in the movie is the greates of all: Bjork.

3: Pepe el Toro (Mexican old movie): I think this is one of the top 5 best Mexican films ever and Pedro Infante is in it. Pedro in fante was, still is and will always be the "Idol of México" it amazes me that no matter that he died 49 years ago people goes to his "tumba" every year and he is an actor that will alway survive in Méxican and will always be our favorite actor. I like his movies a lot and not to mentionj that my mum has a crush on him:lol: she is like hey come here with me and watch my dead borfriend acting:lol: .
And in this movie he say probably one of the most popular quotes in mexican history there is no Mexican who doesn0't know this phrase/quote: "Yo lo maté Pepe el toro es inocente".....................TORITO¡¡¡¡¡  .there are even t-shirt, bazañlect with that quoite.

4-. "Amores Perros": I have to admit that today's Mexican films suck but out of 1000000 bad movies this is an authentic Jewel.
Alejandro González Iñarritu:worship: :worship: :hearts:  Es un chingón.I'm so proud of him and Guillermo Arriaga (the writter of Amores Perros, 21 grams and Babel script) this two guys together are "the shit"

I still not sure about other favorites movies.............its hard to decide.

OK then Jneiffer's ass is the number 1...............but who's ass will be the Rfael Nadal.,you know the one that sometimes is better than Federer...???

Argentina was fine I guess........................the wether anoyyed me alittle but I was glad to see mi family and I was more delighted that my father wasn't with his fucking "jeta" (something like long face) it was nice.

And the name of the thread......

Here in México every 6 of January we cut the "Rosca de Reyes" "kings bread" andthat look like this:
http://www.mexicodoc.com/mexiclopedia/img/rosca_reyes.jpg

In México we belive in 3 people call "Reyes Magos" like Snata Claus of the USA you know the character that brings gifts to the children.
The "Reyes Magos brig the gfits for the children in 6 of january and that same day in the nigth we eat the "rosca de reyes" and inside the "rosca" its hiddens little white toy-doll(two in every Rosca)that are supposed to represent baby Jesus "niñito Jesus" and By tradition, whoever gets the slice with a doll must host a tamales-and-atole party on on February 2nd the day where we celñebrate "the candelaria day" so everyone eats Tamales and Atole that day......................

Anyway I was in Mariana house and when it was my turn to cut the fucking Rosca I cut the slice and there it was..............the damned toy-doll:fiery: so I'll have to pay a "tamaliza" for Mariana's family on febuary 2nd.
A little toy like this:
http://www.worldonaplate.org/world_on_a_plate/images/kings.jpg
I'l have to buy like 100 tamales:eek:  .Well with some money of my parents............

Re: Pantheon of Films

Top 3 (in no particular order)

--Star Wars (Original Trilogy, i.e., Eps. 4-6): The classical yet simple story of a hero overcoming obstacles to fullfill his destiny (IV), coupled with the more intimate, personal evolution that deviates from the martial elements in favor of the darker psychological and philosophical ones (V), and culminated with the emotional face-off where the secondary storyline of the overwhelmed Rebellion agaisnt the mighty Empire and the main theme pitting Luke against his own self and clouded destiny perfectly coalesce together (VI) in an epic trilogy of grandeur, unbounded emotion, exquisite action, envolving music and comedic pearls scattered throughout...One can simply not ask for something better.

--Love Actually: Love is actually...all around. From that simple premise, the director develops several threads exploring different manifestations across the vast spectrum of love, cleverly intertwining them together to portray a display of natural, unrestricted, passionate orchestra of feelings surrounded by a magical musical atmosphere, and perfectly executed by simple--if sometimes quirky--everyday characters that represent us all, and through their experiencing of the most peculiar, exquisitely creative situations, evoke laughter aplenty, tears and joy in a unique, majestic emotional maelstrom of love.

--It's a Wonderful Life: Life is wonderful...sometimes we are Unfortunately opaque to this truth. In this 1946 masterpiece bestowed upon us by director Frank Capra, the great Jimmy Stewart--in one of the all-time greatest Histrionic performances, and the ethereally enchanting Donna Reed, our methaporical hearts come alive to acompany George Bailey towards a life destined to what society deems "greatness" but interrupted by unforecasted circunstances...and his own goodwill and self-sacrifice for his fellow human beings. After tragedy besets, the noble protagonist--and we as an audience--are granted a reincarnation of sorts in which we voyage through the most
heart-touching 5 minutes of film the cellulloid has ever known: Life, though sometimes dressed in dark, is actually wonderful...if only we bothered ourselves to notice, rejoice in its blessings, and discover that the true nature of happyness lays in the company of our loved ones. Never has a simple, apparently-evident lesson such as this one, been more aptly and joyously represented.

(I actually wrote 2 lenghty essays about why I love this 2 last films SO much).

As to the other 4 in my sacred Top 7 (Field of Dreams, The Matrix, Indy trilogy, and Back to the Future trilogy) I should comment some other day. :)

Cheers,

Carlos

1) An unfinished life
Stars Morgan Freeman, Robert Redford and Jennifer Lopez.
I always watch it when I want to relax or feel good. What a pearl it is. Beautiful music too.

2) Million dollar baby
Stars Clint Eastwood, Hillary Swank and, again, Morgan Freeman
Most gripping storyline I have ever seen.

Hey All!

I'm with Carlos on the Indiana Jones and Back to the Future trilogies - love them!

Also among my favorites:
"The Godfather" - parts I and II; especially II - Al Pacino rules!
"Notting Hill" and "Heaven Can Wait" (Warren Beatty's film) - perfect romantic comedies
"Casablanca" - of course

Dani: There is a 'King's Bread' (or cake) tradition in parts of the US also. Mainly around New Orleans, but many other people do it. It is made for Mardi Gras (or Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday). It is supposed to be good to find the toy baby, but I don't know the specifics. Perhaps someone else can fill in and save me the time of looking it up... :)

J Lo? J Lo? Sorry, but no woman on earth is as callipygian in form as Lena D! (great word, callipygian, means "having shapely buttocks).

My favorite movies include:

1. Nosferatu--F. W. Murnau's orignial vampire classic was one of the first to make extensive use of location filming and mobile camera work. Some of the special effects are really dated and draw unintended laughs from modern audiences, but there are still scenes that draw gasps after nearly 90 years. If you can put aside modern expectations and experience it as a period piece, it is still the ultimate vampire movie. The remake is pretty good, but not as good as the original.

2. From the sublime to the ridiculous--Plan 9 from Outer Space. If Nosferatu might the best vampire movie ever, this is clearly and without a doubt the absolute worst vampire movie, and probably the worst ever movie. Horrific sets (check out the shower curtain in the cockpit in the opening scene), leaden dialog (He's dead all right . . . murdered. And someone's responsible!!! . . . "All you of earth are idiots! You're stupid, stupid, stupid!!) and moronic plot (Martians are raising the dead to prey on the living--if this is the best plan they've got, one hates to think how bad Plans 1-8 were) all come together to make this the ultimate so bad it's brilliant movie. Tragically, this is also Belo Lugosi's last movie.

3. Beauty and the Beast. Cocteau, not Disney. Hauntingly beautiful, fairly straightforward telling of the tale. Impossible to describe what makes it so special, impossible to forget once you've seen it.

I spoke to a native New Orleanian who said that finding the baby in the King's Cake is supposed to bring good luck. Yeah :)
Kiira was 3rd. I'm so happy :) Didn't expected that ;) The Finnish nationals made me thinking that EC will be bad (she was 4th). But she proved that I was wrong :)

Sokolova is not in good shape. I will say even more she is in bad shape. Irina didn't take part of it. But I think that Russia has some promising young skaters :)

Kostners shocked me. Even more that Kiira's 3dr place.

And Pöykiö was pretty good + 4th
It was great champs for finnish girls. The worst - Drei was 6th :)

I really loved Oksana Domnina & Maxim Shabalin free dance. It was fucking great :)

I know Kiira did a great job.

Didn'y you go?????????
Is Gdansk far away from Varsaw?????????????????'

I saw the result on the internet and then I search in youtube to see the viedos because in here figure skating is brodcasted on ESPN with a delay of time (like 3 weeks)
I saw the Grand Prix final two weeks after the event was held so I guess I'll se the Europeans in two weeks or three or four:rolleyes: and I already have my tape recorder to of course record it I have many videos of figure skating but I don't have any of Kiira(I don't remember if I recorded her in Torino).

Sokolova:fiery: :fiery: I know and for more that it hurts me to admit it the girl is in very bad shape very slow:fiery: :fiery: .and she is about to turn 27 I think this is her last year:sad: .

I couldn't go because I had test. And I have. But it's going to end ;). And I passed everything. But have to wait for some results :)

About Kiira, I'm only afraid if she can cope with pressure. I mean in Finland everyone want her to win :) Pöykiö is only 2nd on the list (but in my opinion Susanna is still better). And she was ill befor champs and couldn't prepare well

I enjoy cooking Mexican food. I think green sauce is Salsa Verde ?

For me that is onion, green tomatoes, coriander and some chopped jalapeno sweated down and then simmered. But that's from an American cookbook.

It's quick and easy but how do Mexican's prepare and cook it ?

:wavey:
yes green sauce is Salsa verde.

I don't cook but I've seen my mama cooking(I love her food) she prepares a lot of food with green sauce:lick: ................may be 'cos she hyas troubles cooking with red sauce:lol: .

It depends what do you want the sauce for: if you want it for enchiladas, chilaquiles chicken, meat......etc.................its different that if you want it for tacos or as an complemet to............ mostly tacos .

Anyway my mom prepares it like you:

She boiled "hierve" green tomatoes with onion and garlic ......the level of water has to be in the same level as the tomatoes.....no water covering the tomatoes.

When is finally boiled she blends it in the blender ans then she puts it back to the fire to boiled the mix again and she adds some oregano, "clavo" (species) to give a different flavour.....................
I have tasted so many suaces and they all taste different every people has a different flavour;) .

But about the chili:
its depends on .................when my mom want the sauce to be very hot she used chile de arbol a very very tiny chili and trust me its very hot very spicy:fiery: .........

The problem in here is that there are millions tipes of chilis.

She doesn't use jalapeños..............................we eat jalapeños already cooked or prepared those ones that came in a little or big can.

I hope it helps ..............................
And if you have any other doubt.......ask me;)

My Grandma celebrated her 81nd (? or is it 81th??) Birthday today, actually my Grandma's BD is this Wednesday March the 7th but becuz everyone's at work or working then, we celebrated it at her home today.
It was very special becuz it was the 1st time in 3 months that she was home again after she broke her hip, luckily its going slightly better with her but she'll have to stay in the nursing home where she's recovering now and she'll be there for some months for months.

Hope she can return to her home where she lives independent and that she can live independent again, cuz it does't go well with her way of walking
She had a knee-surgery for a new knee but that didn't go well somehow, now she's afraid of falling down when walking so she gets a really insecure way of walking, the reason why she fell and broke her hip...

We love bad and dirty words and we use them in our daily bases every minute I think that out of all the spanish speakers countries my México is by far the most ruse of all and I like it.

You can hear people in the street talking with bad words........................ me and my "lobas" talk to each other with so much love you know....things like:

Come here "pinche perra de mierda"
Orale "hija de la chingada" o hija de tu chingada madre"........

And soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mcuh much more bad words.

Todays young Méxican girls and boy use a lot the "no mames" "vete a la verga" and I like them both.

no mames"-----no way!!!!!!!
vete a la verga-------- fuck you?(I'm not sure)
vales verga--------you are worthless.
hija de tu verga-------????????????????????

Another thing that I like is that for example the word "pedo" means fart in english and we give so many meanings to it 4 example:

"que pedo"-----"what's up"
"esta bien pedo(a)" he /she is drunk.
"me la hizo de pedo"---------" he/she tried to mess up with me.
"vamonos de peda" -------lets go get drunk.
"cual es tu pedo"---------"hwta is you problem"

It may sound vulgar for some spanish speaker but for the mexican is completely normal.

I've said menay times that I like the fact that my country is very "grosero"

SABROSOS- hot guys(Paco, Mat, Alenyaa, Max , Captain, Carlos, Martin)

I really enjoy reading and speaking one of the worlds best languages :)

I did a basic course of Spanish so i know how to make myself understood in standard situations.
Might be a time when i follow another Spanish course...
But i notice that i just know alot of Spanish words when following a Spanish series or interviews i mostly know without seeing the subtitles in Dutch where it is about...

So Dani if you know some cool (bad as well ;) :p) good and words that we dont know, just post them in here and i'll write them down

In here the weather is crazy and ugly.
at 6am its cold.
11-2 pm its very hot
4-6 its windy
5.7 its raining

I rather 10000000000000000000000 times more the cold weather than the hot and sunny weather.

Pity you couldn't go to the RHCP Dani....

They do come here in the summer around mid-june, but i wont go, too expensive, too far away and i don't think i have time in that period...

The RHCP where last year at the Pinkpop festival in Landgraaf, Limburg, The Netherland (in the south of the Neth near Maastricht)
Pinkpop is a famous festival which hosted famous bands as Radiohead, Placebo, RHCP, REM etc. its being broadcasted every year on tv and held around Pentecost, mainday is Whitday...

Me and my younger sister almost went there last year, but one thing is for sure, i will and must visit either Pinkpop, Lowlands or any other Dutch festival in the near future :yeah: :hearts: :inlove:

Cheers,

Carlos

Actually, she was Brazilian. And she mainly taught me the dirty words which in Portuguese are quite similar. Her nickname for me was "bunda branca''..

Is the Gathering popular in North and South America Dani? i am curious since its a Dutch band and becuz its well known here but not so famous...

Pity you couldn't go to the RHCP Dani....

They do come here in the summer around mid-june, but i wont go, too expensive, too far away and i don't think i have time in that period...

See for more info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinkpop and the official website for the program and stuff, it has a english version... http://www.pinkpop.nl/page.php?pagID=223

Well The Gathering is not very very popular otherwise the would have played in the foro sol instead of a small place the "circo volador" and they have always performed in there.
Thre had also a concert in Monterrey in the Cafe Iguana but let me tell you that a lot of Germans , Americans two slovak guys and many other non-Mexican people were in the concert....I was like.....oh men there are too many white bold guys in here.................HELP ME!!!!!
I talked to the germnas and they told me that they were here because its chep and they were going to to the another gathering concert in Monterrey.

They are OK..............I mean MTV doesn't transmit theri videos......until this day I haven't seen a The gathering video in any music channel in México.

But I went to the concert:bounce: and It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!! a Mexican band opended the concert for them........it was great fantastic I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!

And I went with my ex-bf:lol:  ........................I guess The Gathering worth it very much like I said before he invited me to the RHCP concert and I said NO and on Monday he sent me a text messege: "I know that this is something you connot resist:"Toluca against Boca Juniors on Wednesday and nThe Gathering on Friday"..and he was completely rigth.....my favorite team against a great tem like Boca and one of my favorite bands......HELL YEAH!!
It was funny we made out for the firts time listening to Strange Machines(not romantic song at all but we were in a party SO....).......and they played it.

I even cried when they played in Motion 1:sad:    .

That was definitely one of the best concerts.....

Last time they came I also went with him...but it wasn't that great...

They didn't play On must Surfaces nor Travel (after the concert everyone was talking about that ...Travel not being played:eek: )

My favorite song of them is Like Fountains and Leaves(and many more )
They didn't play Like F.... but I heard Leaves live for the first time

Check out some vids.
