Not a success.
Such event must be a World Class Event with sell-out-stadium.

It would be better to chose a city with support for at least one player.
Brussels would be OK.

I think they should bring it to a country that doesn't already have a WTA event of some kind. Put it in Dublin. Or Copenhagen. Or Zagreb.

on my farm in Hereford UK! i can get a court put in by then!! and Lena D can stay in my house!!

Seriously tho , Madrid seemed a lot better than the dreadful staples center in LA , I have been to that area regularly and its poo! Madrid was way better...

how boring to have it in Europe or America again.

Why not have it somewhere where there aren't any tournaments.
E.g Somewhere in Africa or South America. At the same time it would promote tennis in the region. But no, we have to have it somewhere predictable i guess. how boring.

well south America could be good indeed! the only prob is we have to think of the jetlag etc ,most of the final tournys are in Europe, but I do think S America wouldnt be a half bad idea .. Argentina or Brazil or something..

If Madrid ends up being a success, keep it there. We don't want to throw away a good thing like NYC

Africa doesn't even have a WTA tournament, and there are reasons for that. One, the region doesn't have the financial resources to support a regular WTA event, nevermind the YEC. Two, you'd never sell tickets. LA would look like a sell-out in comparison. Some of that is because they have no idea what tennis is, but more than that people there can't just throw out money to spend on tickets, when they can't afford food or medications for their own families. Three, Africa is one of the most politically unstable regions of the world. You'd have a very, very hard time organizing any kind of event there, much less getting the players to show up.

Somewhere in Asia....like maybe China? Either Shanghai or Beijing. Both will be hosting world class events in a few years time. Like the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the world convention in Shanghai 2010.

Plus...China tennis is on the rise.

Or Singapore!!! Haha I would buy a season pass man. Only thing is we dont have a HUGE stadium full of tennis courts.

Or....Madrid could have it till 2008 then after that move it to Beijing in 2009/2010. After all, the tennis courts/stadiums would be Olympic-class. Then after that, move it back to either North/South America....then Australia or Europe again.

SINGAPORE - the Indoor stadium would do fine. Don't really need a lot of courts.. cos only the top 8 play.
