i don't mind it actually, but at times it's nice when it's not there so that u can hear the sound of the ball coming off her racket.

Love her "CMONs" though! :rocker2:

And the steely-eyed look all throughout!...Her intensity and determination is amazing to watch.

The shrieks...I've gotten used to and when she doesn't do them, I feel like something is missing.

I like it otherwise i wouldnt be a fan, I think it adds another dimention and without it the match is just a little dull. Its awesome when two big grunters play each other its like to warriors going to battle.

I don't really care though. A few of my male friends say it turns them on. Any one agrees with that?

She can hit the ball just as hard without grunting.

You've made 1400 posts - and you claim you "don't know if there's been a thread on this before"?

Yeah. How about 600 and counting.....

it's too loud. I wish people didn't grunt, it's a waste of space, but I only don't mind Dementieva's! :D

I absolutely, totally loathe it!!!!

Whenever she's on i turn the volume down.

I saw her live at Wimbledon this year and the sounds she makes are terribly annoying and very disturbing.

I wonder what she sounds like in the bedroom...... :)

YUCK YUCK YUCK :fiery:

I Don't like it, it's far too loud

What i find weird is how other players react to it.

Kim, for example, doesn't have a problem with it. She says that when she's on the court she actually doesn't even hear it.... Elena Deeee on the other hand says it's totally annoying and disturbing.

For me, as a spectator, it's annoying. :tape:

I love it. She puts everything into every point. The noise is a barometer of that. I also love it because it pisses off the haters.

The reactions are really lame--do those who disparage her for it have equally negative reactions to Dementieva, Venus and Serena Williams, because they are all just as noisy. And Seles--she could be heard from Mars.

By the way, Dementieva grunts BEFORE she hits a shot--now if any grunting is artificial, hers is surely it.

I love them. I've made a point to be noisier during my matches and I find I am really hitting the ball better.

If it's good for her, then why should she stop? The other players will just have to ... shuddup or join in!!
Except when she plays Mauresmo, then she better be quiet

I don't really mind it but I don't know how I'd feel about it if I were actually playing her...

I remember watching some of Maria's match against Flavia Pennetta at Wimbledon this year with my grandmother - she could not believe it and was not a fan... ;)

I think it's awful and would like the WTA to do something about it. It's the single reason I'm not and will never be a Maria fan.

To be fair though - I'm mightily impressed with her game recently. And at Linz she won without the high decibells. Yes she shrieked there as she always does - but not to the level she usually does which I find unacceptable.

So I'm really glad she won that without the decibells - she can do it.

I love it! Her screams are what first attracted me to her. Serena screamed, Monica screamed. And I like both! I think it adds to their intensity.

I do. I think Maria's shrieking is sexy as all get out.

I like her intensity and I think that her shrieking is part of it. And lots of players do it. Hell, there have been matches between Venus and Masha where they were each getting louder and louder in response to each other. Why not have a zillion threads about Venus' shrieking?

I just think it is part and parcel of Maria's game. She doesn't always do it. But when she does, it doesn't bother me, and I do find it pretty sexy.
