if Maria wins in two sets over Sveta
and Elena thrashes Kim in two
then all 3 will be level on 1 win and 2 losses

sets won lost would be equal then it would go down to games W/L

a mathematical possibilty but its very remote.

Yes. She has to beat Kim not losing more than 3 games.

Yes there is

If Elena beats Kim (losing 3 games maximum)
and Maria beats Svetlana in straight sets

lol i think lena has to beat kim like 6-1 6-1 and she is really slumping and clijsters played amazingly against Kuznetsova :help: but anything is possible with lena ;)

Yes. She has to beat Kim not losing more than 3 games.

LMAO.

knowing elena, she'll probably give kim 3 games in double faults

Yes. She has to beat Kim not losing more than 3 games.

That's almost impossible, considering her serve and the way Kim trashed Svetlana.

Only God can help her now via a miracle. :help:

lol imagine it actually happened but knowing lena she'll prob win 6-1 6-0 cause pretty much everyone expects her to lose easily

another possibilty (which i dont hope happens)
Kim can get injured in 1st 3 games, then Patty would be brought in to complete the match and Patty could tank the match in 20 mins.

come on, they don't really allow for mid-match substitutions, do they?

Probably not.

If Kim retires being 3-0 up it would probably count as a 6-3 6-0 win for Elena.

it's just weird. They both know that once Kim wins that 4th game, the match is only an exho. What's the prize money on the line for an individual match, anyway? I guess maybe 15,000$??

Only if two other players in her group and all substitutes have severe food poisoning then probably Lena could qualify.

Lloyd: What are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together?
Mary: Well, that's pretty difficult to say.
Lloyd: Hit me with it! I've come a long way to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
Mary: Not good.
Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million.
[pause]
Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance. YES! I read ya.

Well.... is there any chance for her to double bagel or at least double breadstick Kim (harder part)? And she also needs Masha to beat Svetlana in straights (easier part)
Theoretically yes, tho.

HenryMag.
Nov 10th, 2006, 08:51 AM
I think it's impossible Lena win.

But Lena needs win in straights, which is more impossible...

And Kim can only win 3 games, which is more more impossible...

So, Lena is out!!

And Lena is my favourite player...

Ben.
Nov 10th, 2006, 09:07 AM
yes lena is out as everybody has indicated in here already unless she double bagels kim which i highly doubt  try & prove me wrong someone :tape:

So Disrespectful
Nov 10th, 2006, 09:18 AM
Yes she can.

If the rest of the field simultaneously die. Elena has been known to poison her opponents in the past ;)

Imagine her losing 8 straight match in a tournament, then trash Kim 6-1, 6-2 or whatever that allows her to qualify for the semis?????

Wont that be the greatest joke ever...........:help:

But if there is a chance, who knows??!!

All i can say is, enjoy your time on court tonight Lena! :)

Losing only 3 games or less?!

Matches in which Elena has lost 3 games or less in the past years:

in 2006:
Elena Dementieva def Shenay Perry 6:2 6:0 at Wimbledon
Elena Dementieva def Tatiana Perebiynis 6:2 6:0 at Warsaw
Elena Dementieva def Michaella Krajicek 6:0 6:1 at Miami
Elena Dementieva def Martina Hingis 6:2 6:0 at Pan Pacific Open :worship:

in 2005:
Elena Dementieva def Sesil Karatancheva 6:0 6:1 at Moscow
Elena Dementieva def Tatiana Garbin 6:1 6:1 at Los Angeles
Elena Dementieva def Nuria Llagostera Vives 6:0 6:3 at Charleston
Elena Dementieva def Anna Chakvetadze 6:2 6:1 at Australian Open

in 2004:
Elena Dementieva def Amy Frazier 6:2 6:1 at San Diego
Elena Dementieva def Kristina Brandi 6:1 6:1 at San Diego

I fear she may only win 3 games against Kim tonight. :(
