View Full Version : YEC: The "One Chance" Match - "I Need One" Momo vs "I Have One" Hingis. Who will win?

Momo needs to win this match or she might end up bottom in the group and out of the tournament. But her opponent Hingis will surely want to win this in order to get to the SF.

Who will win this match? You decide :wavey:

I think Amelie will win, and on Friday we will have three players at 1-2,
and Justine at 3-0.

You can't seen Momo vs Justine first coz Tomorrow is:

Petrova - Justine and then Momo vs Hingis..

Friday: Justine vs Mauresmo..

Martina in strai8 sets. She's coming off a great win over nadia & that must have given her a lot of confidence goin in2 this match plus amelie 2 me doesn't have the confidence at the moment & clearly isn't in2 these c'ships.

so there4 martina is the more mentally fresher than amelie but then there's the question of "how will her physcial condition cope against amelie after her long 3 set win over nadia?" i don't think that will be much of a factor really.

I guess maybe Hingis will win again in three setters at worst. Even tighter than today then have a long rezt

Mauresmo will wake up, remember who she is and where she is - and beat the strutting, swaggering Hingis in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-4

I think Martina is the better player, but I am not sure what to make of tomorrow...

Martina has a great shot but WILL be very tired and Momo will want to save face and have a much better game than the other day, plus she is well-rested so I would say it's 50/50!

COME ON MARTINA!!!!!!!!

Hingis is more of a champion than Amelie, although Amelie is a great champion, as she proved this year.

Go Martina!

Hingis is riding a wave of confidence after beating a in-form Petrova. Mauresmo is suffering from a crushing opening round loss to Petrova and has lost her chance at #1, I say Hingis in two will effectively dismiss Momo from Madrid.

yesterday i said hingis most likely will lose against petrova because of her poor fitness, and she prove me wrong.

today i am saying the same thing. however now i see her fitness level much better, but still not good enough to play 3 back to back match against top10...

i hope she prove me wrong.
lets not foget amelie will be more determine to win the match, and her first match she was extremely rusty.
however if hingis is fresh, i would say she will win. otherwise :(

Hingis is looking good to win and save a place for herself in the semis.
Not bad at all.

Best of Luck Martina!

Marti. After that great performance against Petrova today, and Amelie not being 100%...the odds are stacked heavily in her favour.

My feelings exactly, though I am hopeful and ecstatic after the win against Nadia. I still believe Amelie will try her best of at least salvaging her horrendous showing thusfar at this years end championships. She knows Hingis is not the fittest and her stamina is still questionable even this far in her tour comeback. (however, still not in full force)

hingis in straight sets. amelie isn't playing anywhere near the standard she was earlier in the year. meanwhile, if hingis can replicate her form in the second set against henin and in the match against petrova, she will straight-set amelie 6-3 6-3

however, it would not surprise me if hingis plays tired tennis and loses... personally i'm just happy she beat petrova

i think everybody's concern here is how fresh hingis is tommorow.

if hingis is fresh, i am pretty sure she will win. she almost beat amelie the last time at berlin.
however, after 2 tiring late night matches which went to 3 sets, i would be quite shock if hingis pulls a win.

Hingis. If Martina can pull of the Henin and Petrova in 3 sets, expect that she can also do this against Mauresmo.

Martina 6-3 7-5, straight sets, she needs to win this in two.
She is motivated and after yesterday she has regained her self believe.

erm, howcome amelie has so little votes?

i mean the only players i have supported and always will support is Hingis, but i still think amelie has high chance of winning this becuase hingis would be dead tired after two back to bakc matches against top5 players, all going into 3 sets and late night matches....

Nov 9th, 2006, 01:26 PM
Amelie is playing bad but not that bad, that hingis can defeat her. martina will have a very hard time with amelies high top spin that will kick up on hingis. It should be amelie winning in straights but i think it might be a 3 set match.

Ok, I voted for Amelie because I doubt that she will play so bad 2 matches is a road and Martina must be tired after those intense matches, but I really hope that I´m wrong and she played in the same way she did yesterday or better if it´s possible.
Anyway, Martina best chances is winning the match in 2 sets, otherwise I don´t think her body help her in the third.
BTW, it´s really interesting how things can change in a couple of days. Before the first match everybody said that she lost all her matches and probably in straight because she can´t compete with the best, know she has a chance to be in semis.
