her best matches are when she hits 5-8 DFs  I remember in San Diego this year she had 1 or 2 DFs against Patty Schnyder, but she played like crap and lost :help:

 it's a shame ... because she is such a good player and gives her all ... it makes me sad and I'm not even a fan .. I like watching her, but she's not one of my fave's. I think it's

dunno but Safin managed it against Andre in their AO 2004 SF (over 30 aces and 0 DF)

she really needs a serious serve coach if she's ever going to get higher. The top players know how to deal with her serve, and she needs to improve  I hope she does, because she really loves the sport and does her best.

I can't understand how someone who plays tennis for a living and who is ranked in the top 10 in the world, yet they can't learn how to control their double faults. That's just shameful!

Back in 2000 her serve was pretty decent actually. The motion looked a million times better than the mess she's making of it these days.

it's a mental issue for her, the commentators say she serves wonderful during practice but on court it's a different situation.

In 2004 on Kremlin Cup Lena hasn't done any DFs before semifinals  :bolt:

plus in semis against Bovina she had done just one DF (on match point :o )

This post is really funny. Shouldn't the question read has Elena D ever played a match without doulbe figure double faults.

Elena actually plays better when she commits 6-10 dfs.

DF Win Loss
0 2 0
1-5 10 10
6-10 16 8
11-20 16 1

*Tally does not include YEC matches

This is her win-loss tally based on the number of double faults she commits in a match.

The 2 matches there where she had 0 DFs were both unfinished matches. One is a walkover from Peng Shuai at Rome, and the other one is a retirement from Julia Valkulenko in Berlin (although she was leading 6-2 3-0 before Julia retired).

It's all mental for Elena. But she usually plays crappy when she doesn't serve her normal count of DFs. Elena committing minimum number of DFs means that she's not going for it.

these r some interesting stats bout lena' DF count. all the matches i've seen her play this year she always makes around 5 or more DF's interestingly enough  but it would be a bit weird if she didn't serve any i reckon.

her DFs are like aces to her.its important for her to be pumped

Dementieva manages to win matches while serving over 20 Dfs. She should get into HOF just for that.

This is her win-loss tally based on the number of double faults she commits in a match. According to your stats, she plays better with 11-20 DFs. Now where do you find stats like this? Are you compiling them??! :p

Reconsideration: I guess there were fewer matches with 11-20 DFs, but same number of wins as with 6-10 DFs

There is a BIG and OBVIOUS difference tho...
Aces win you free points; DF's give your opponents free points. :help: :o

true, especially those 15 DF's she made 2 maria the other day, just sort of gave it away.

As ive always been taught - its okay to hit one df if you follow it with four aces :)

Unfortunately, Elena hits one df, then hits 4 more df's. I'd settle for her 10-20 df counts if she'd hit 10-20 aces to go with that.
