Definatly been the most consistant out of anyone, if she wins the YEC she definatly deserves the #1 Position.

It's been a very successful season for Maria. Kudos to her!

(Haters: please get out. LOL. I don't like Maria but it's time people started giving her credit.)

So her only blemish was when she was 52 up on Safina in Paris

Yup and I think it's her lack of clay-court tennis that she has been slightly overlooked this year between Amelie and Justine.

But one impressive result still is that outside this year's French Open, she has been to the quarters or better in all events she has competed in since the U.S. Open 2004.

She really is one of the toughest if not dangerous opponents for any player.

This year has been damn good....especially after how the end of last year fell away with that injury problem. More of the same in 2007

Her foot injury that occured while Maria was practicing in Spain was still bothering her at the FO and she couldn't prepare much because of it.

If she stays uninjured, Maria can have her best year yet in 2007.:D

It was in Mexico I think. Oh god you just made me nervous by mentioning foot injury and Spain in one sentence.

Here's hoping she keeps healthy the whole of next season. No doubt, the injuries - the foot and especially the injury she got in late 2004 (i'm now confused as to what it was because it was diagnosed wrong. was it a rib injury?) - have stalled her progress for a bit. But all is good now so hopefully it stays this way.

Yes, I think you are right - Maria was supposed to play an exhibition in Mexico?

It seems that the "displaced rib" injury is well behind her now and it's just the darn foot injuries that keep bothering Maria.

Yes I'm pretty sure she got it while practicing for the exhibition in Mexico.

Yes Maria has lost only one Tennis match so far since the Wimbledon SF!

Hoping it continues! :)
