I've seen numerous comments about Serena's ability to waltz into tournaments without any warm-up and be considered a threat to take the title. I'm more than a tad confused  as to why she would subject herself to ridicule for playing in a TIER lV tournament. One looked at as amongst the lowest ranked ones to prepare for the Australian Open. The # 13 player would be her highest ranked combatant. If she's humiliated :o (as some are expecting),what will that do for her confidence at the A.O.:

Instead of Hobart, what tournament should Serena take part in? What tennis player decideswhether or not to play based on potential ridicule from people who would find fault on anything to begin with?

The idea is to warm up and prepare. If stepping onto the court at any time in any tournament has fear dictating what an athlete does they should change to a different job.

I'm not one of those who thinks she's above playing in lead up tournaments. My question was why enter a tournament where she's easily considered a favorite and not one where she would perhaps have to play a top ranked player or two.

What ridicule dork!
She's ranked 90
something in the world! :p

Ever think that it's simply about
getting back into the groove.
Not everything is done to make
some sort of statement!

FYI, a healthy & in shape Serena
has done it before on a much larger
scale! So deal with it!

You fucking morons are a damn trip!

First, Serena gets bashed for her ranking and being "too good" to
play qualies or lower tier's to gradually build her ranking. Then, she
bashed for not being signed up for a OZZy warm-up and then when she
does you complain about the level of/quality of field!

Just STFU and let the girl do
her damn thing you forked tounged morons!

I'm fine with whatever tournament Serena plays. If she thinks it's the best start for the season, than I'm totally supporting her decisions!

she can be humiliated if she has not put in the work
