In the yellow they will be Mauresmo, Henin, Petrova and Hingis; in the red one, three of the four Russians: Sharapova, Dementieva, Kuznetsova and the Belgian Klijsters. For the first time in one decade, the United States does not include any tennis player. This absence in top of tennis replaces the Russian legion, that during the last years has nourished the last rounds of the great matches. The result, the dominion in number of the Sony Ericcson Championship, in which half of the participants will be of this country. Three of them, in addition - Sharapova, Dementieva and Kuznetsova- agree in the red group, next to Klijsters. The amount at least assures one them in semifinals, although the quality augurs that anyone of them can arrive far. More difficult it will have Petrova, in a yellow group in which three teniestas agree that have been number one of the world at different moments: Mauresmo, the present one; Henin and Hingis, that to the 26 years participate by eighth time in this match that serves to crown to the best one between the best ones. Natalicious Nov 5th, 2006, 11:47 AM i think in the first group make it amelie & nadia and in the 2nd maria and kim or kuzy spencercarlos Nov 5th, 2006, 11:48 AM Hingis won't win a match :sobbing: Martina really got a great draw, she is playing Henin and Mauresmo who despite their great years are coming back from injury, and Mauresmo´s form of late has not been that good, plus she is playing Petrova for the first time this year, so i think it´s going to be extremly interesting. Hingis was not going to get Dementieva anyway, Sharapova at this point would have been untouchable for Hingis, and Svetlana has played way better than Mauresmo since the Usopen. MistyGrey Nov 5th, 2006, 11:50 AM I think the semis will be Maria vs Justine and Kim vs Nadia. Benshka Nov 5th, 2006, 11:50 AM Maybe Nadia might get through instead of Amélie. It's tough. I just hope that Justine meets Maria in the semis!!! And beats her, of course! :bounce:  One hard group, One soft group :-/ Why? I think they're both pretty equal. Three real contenders for the semis in each group. Mauresmo, Henin-Hardenne and Petrova can all pretend for a SF spot, just like Sharapova, Kuznetsova and Clijsters (if she finds her level back). As for the winner, it's between 1. Sharapova, 2. Henin-Hardenne, 3. Kuznetsova and 4. Mauresmo I think. pooh14 Nov 5th, 2006, 11:52 AM i would not discount hingis here. hingis can beat all 3 of them and can be beaten by all 3 of them. depending on which martina turns up. If the aggresive martina turns up, she will qualify for semis, otherwise no. TheBoiledEgg Nov 5th, 2006, 11:57 AM Nadia has a shot of making semis :) :) not good for Lena but hope she can do something :scared: bellascarlett Nov 5th, 2006, 11:57 AM I wonder why?  Yeah that's what I was hoping for too. And so this draw is cooperating so far. Maria will have to be smart about playing her round robin matches. bellascarlett Nov 5th, 2006, 12:01 PM I actually think Martina has a chance to make the semis. She has two players who are coming back from injury time outs and one whom she can beat mentally. Martina will have to serve fairly well though. Muffin the Mule Nov 5th, 2006, 12:04 PM 1. Petrova 2. My guess will be Kuzzy, but you can't discredit the other two.... UDACHi Nov 5th, 2006, 03:49 PM aww damn. my bitches in red group together. Europe rocks Nov 5th, 2006, 03:52 PM Yellow group  So strong! Good luck to Nadia  Good luck to Lena in the red group :) Kim's_fan_4ever Nov 5th, 2006, 03:54 PM Hmm quite interesting. I don't really care about the Yellow Group as long as Nadia gets through. For me the Red Group is really attractive. Sharapova probably will win all the matches. The question is who will be the second player. I think it will be either Sveta or Kim, I'd give more chances for Sveta though. Prove me wrong Kim ;) Derek. Nov 5th, 2006, 03:59 PM Go everyone, but Masha and Juju! :yippee: ys Nov 5th, 2006, 04:34 PM Dream draw for Sharapova.. She gets opponents who won't be able threaten her indoors. And Henin gets Mauresmo, who beat her in all big matches these year, Nadya, who had the second best indoor season and who always plays Henin tough, and Hingis, who can be very good indoors. Sharapova's bid for year end #1 is given a major boost by this draw. | |
