does she announce this now so the Belgian media will talk about it during the off-season  and then in december we can hear they split up again, like with Lleyton

or she might get knocked up on the wedding night, so she'll have to retire before her beloved events in Hasselt and Antwerp :p

She should try to keep her private life "private".

Not a good move, Kim.

While her fans and detractors believe Kim has no desire or intensity anymore, Kim to me seems happier than most girls on tour and most people in life except when she isn't tripping over dogs while playing soccer.

Some of her detractors may think that and there is this one fan I can think of who thinks that. I don't. She has a much more balanced life than a lot of other players - and she looks forward to other things in her life. But that does not mean that when she's training or playing the most important thing for her is not playing and winning. You don't have to have tennis and nothing else in life to be motivated. If she had no desire or intensity any more she would not have done those heroics at AO earlier this year and she would not be up at 6am every morning swimming and then training to get back to playing at Hasselt.

Anyway happy wedding next year.

I guess she'll be pregnant by the time US Open starts. I hope she waits a little. Kim can go have a few babies, as long as she comesback to win a few more majors.

Please don't be so negative in an unrealistic manner.
I hope she won't be distracted from tennis, she has to play her best!
Still, I wonder why they decided to marry after Wimbledon. On the other hand, I'm glad to see she doesn't plan her wedding after her retirement; to me, theoretically, it stays more open this way that maybe .... maybe she won't retire at the beginning of 2008.

It's quite a logical date...

She announced in april already they would get married some time in 2007.

However the break in the tennis season and the one in the basketball season do not coincide. But for Kim it is easier to take a few weeks off her sport than for Brian. So why not take a break midway the season (as Mauresmo does), during Brian's break from basket (which is end of June until end of August); and go on honeymoon? ;)

In her new diary update she doesn't say she'll quit tennis after Wimbledon. She just says she wants to go on honeymoon and will thus have a slightly different second half of the season.

I ment why not marry after her retirement? I also didn't mean she would quit tennis after Wimbledon.
She also said she would fully commit herself to her 2 resting years of tennis (she said that right after her announcement she would retire), but she is not holding her word, not that I have the right to complain about that, since it's her life, but I mean I don't agree the wedding & honeymoon will slightly influence her second half of the season. On the other hand, I think like she will feel more free(d) than ever and maybe play her best tennis ever. Unfortunately, if that happens, she will retire before we will be able to fully enjoy the newborn-and-playing-on-a-different-level Kim.
By the way, I withdraw what I said in my earlier post here about more chance she won't retire: she again said (on the news) it is certain she will retire.

Congrats Kim & Bryan!!

His name is Brian Lynch, he's originally from New Jersey, and he plays professional basketball in Belgium. I just hope he knows not to answer his phone when Kim calls him, because that's how she broke up with the racist Aussie midget.
