You can't get away with erratic play against a confident Petrova. Nadia knows exactly what to do on court whereas Nicole is just going for winners nonstop. That is how she plays but unless she tones down (which I think she will eventually) she won't get any further.
Nadia is looking good. She is a real contender for the YEC but she won't be if she plays Hasselt. She was visibly tired after Stuttgart and couldn't bring her best tennis in Moscow.

Nadia won Stuttgart, then made the KC final, now Linz final.
So she's won about 12 of 13, beating Sveta, Nicole, Tati etc.

Amazing performance from Nadia, Nicole had nothing to say today and her serve didn't help today.

You can't get away with erratic play against a confident Petrova. Nadia knows exactly what to do on court whereas Nicole is just going for winners nonstop.

I don't think Nicole went for too much; also, she played nowhere near as bad as she did in Moscow or against Golovin later. It's just that Petrova, without even going for the lines that much (i.e. keeping a good margin for error) hits consistently deep and hard and that takes away the time Nicole needs to set up her own shots, and as a consequence she sprays them blindly on all directions since she has to hit them before she has placed herself in the proper position to do so. Major footwork problem, which she has to solve ASAP. Petrova played intelligently - didn't really go for that many winners, but instead just hit it back hard and deep at Nicole to draw the error from her. Petrova has been walking on water this whole tournament, seemingly unable to do anything wrong. She's clearly the favourite against an exhausted Maria tomorrow, but I suspect she'll fold as she tends to do when facing her.
