I saw here is no thread for Chani

so here is one :D

Chanelle was born at the 13th of March in 1984. And ..... I found no personally informations about Chanelle ..... I am sorry :smash: :sad:

But I can tell you that Chanelle is currently the number 328 in singles and 152 in doubles ( carrer high :woohoo: ). She won 3 ITF doubles titles this year (ITF/Tampa, FL-USA (w/Tsoubanos), ITF/Grado-ITA (w/Dabek), ITF/Gorizia-ITA). In singles she playes very bad at the moment. She won only 10 matches this year and lost 25 :sad:. But in doubles it looks much better. She won 26 matches and lost 17 matches.

Last week she played a 50k event in Troy. She lost 26 36 in the first round against Clarisa Fernandez. In doubles she came into the finale (with N.Uberoi). They lost 76(1) 57 36 against Baker/Kriz :sad:. But I think it was a great (doubles)week for her. This week she played in San Francisco.

Her first round opponent is the top seeded player Laura Granville . Another bad draw for Chani :sad:. I hope she can do well against Laura and exspecially in doubles.

Chanelle lost 46 36 against Laura :sad: . She played in doubles with Neha Uberoi against Castellvi/Ciulei. I hope she can win some matches in doubles :D

At the end, I think it was a bad year in singles for Chanelle .....From 234 to 328 :sad: :help: ...... Her best results this year are 2 Semifinals at 25k tournaments (Fort Walton Beach and Mexiko City 1) ..... But good results in doubles. 3 titles (all 25k Tampa, Grado and Gorizia), 6 finals (1 50k at Troy and 5 25k at Troy, Clearwater, Pelham, Augusta and Mexiko City 1) and 2 Semifinals (1 50k at St.Paul and 1 25k at Mexiko City 2)

Great doubles season :yeah: but a very bad singles season :bigcry:

On the current WTA rankings (1/15/07) Chani's listed at #338. She loses 20 pts this week (I'm not sure why, she only picked up 12 at this tournament last year, according to WTA listings), so she needs to get to the finals to keep 17, and a win will bring 25. Plus, she is coming thru qualies, so that will give her an additional point.

But losing those 20 pts without gaining any back will leave her at about #431.

She seemed to lose the momentum when she was broken early on in the 1st set, and never really got it back, even tho she did break back in that set, and, if I remember correctly, was broken again at 5-6. She was down either 0-3 or 0-4 in the 2nd (I can't remember anymore) before coming back, but she couldn't keep it going. But she made it a good fight all the way thru.

On the positive side of things.....she's not defending any wins until April. She only got in here an alternate, so really to make the 2r, earn 3 points & a raise in ranking of about 10 spots (# 417 to # 407) is a bonus. An easy win over someone who beat her in an extremely close match previously has to be a confidence booster too (Petra Rampre d. Chanelle 7-6,1-6,6-4 in 2003)......:)

Sheepers/Grandin vs wc-Albanese(USA)/Wozniacki(DEN).....Chanelle's never played dub's against either opponent.

Chanelle lost her 1st 4 dub's matches against Grandin (once in 2000 & 3 times in 2002), before winning on her 5th attempt in 2002...They paired for the 1st time last year, earning a 5-3 win/loss record together.

I've never seen Albanese play, but Wozniacki will be a tough opponent. She and Azarenka made it to the final in Memphis last year.

I'll have to sit this one out and see what happens.

Good move! It's a pretty tough field for a $10k, she'll be one of the lower seeds. If she can just get to the QF's, who knows how far she'll be able to go. It'll hopefully be a good confidence building tournament.

Yeah, but she's never been REALLY highly ranked in singles, and so maybe if she becomes a doubles specialist, she can play better tourneys with better partners, and get more money? :shrug:
