No surprise. Was expectable after the Pironkova-match.

Play less tournaments in a row, Jelena.

Gratulations to Sveta. Well deserved win.

what the hell was going to with jj? A lot of 1st serves in but not effective. Only 1 break point but she could not convert the BP. sorry jelena and get some rest. we will see you playing in Zurich again.

why do ya'll say Jelena is back in her slump? She's been playing for a few weeks in a row and posting some pretty consistent results. She's just burnt out and needs to rest. But she's still been more consistent than half the WTA tour these past few weeks.

Jelena... now please withdraw from from doubles and rest finally. In match against Pierce (even today in 1st set against Sveta) you proof that you have game for TOP10... but you need rest (and dont risk injury, please).

Congrats, Sveta.

It was pretty much as I expected, though. Not taking anything away from Sveta, because she's on a real roll, but Jelena was always going to be tired after such a late match last night and it showed. Thankfully, she's not playing Moscow so she can recuperate a bit. She certainly needs a rest.

I am not surprised. Jelena must be very tired. After a week or two of rest, she'll be even more dangerous!!!
Congrats Sveta.

 Is Jelena still injured?
(quite surprised at the 7/5, 3rd set win against Pironkova, and how short this QF match was)

Or was she just exhausted after the marathon vs. Pironkova?

Just exhausted, I think. She starting cramping again during the Pironkova match and said she was sore today. Plus, she didn't get to bed until 3am so she didn't have the longest recovery time.

I think it's less a case of Jankovic not playing so hot as it is a case of Kuznetsova playing like crazy. I'd imagine it would be similar regardless of what kind of rest Jankovic has gotten. Honestly, Kuznetsova is the benchmark at the moment, and Jankovic is a close 3rd.
