I think a famous one was Chanda Rubin beating Jana Novotna after being down a set and 5-0, 40-0 down in the French Open several years ago.

The classics that we all remember:

Rubin defeats Novotna from something like 1-6 0-5 0-40. (French Open, 1995)

Mary Jo Fernandez defeats Sabatini from 1-6 0-5. (French Open, 1993 - some say Sabatini's career never recovered after that loss)

Kimiko Date defeats Sabatini from 1-6 0-5 in Miami SF, 1995 (see the above comment)
My scores are only from memory, so they may be wrong give or take a game or two. But those were definitely all classic comebacks/chokes.

Pierce vs Likhovtseva, last year's Kremlin Cup. Being down 0-6 at 3rd set tie-break, Pierce managed to score eight consecutive points. miraculous.

and then Juju vs Myskina at 2004 Olympics. I think Juju was down 1-5 at the last set but then defeat Myskina 7-5?. This loss haunted Myskina in her sleep the following months.

Easy... biggest comeback in a match was Jenny defeating Hingis at the 2002 AO Final.. was down 4-6, 0-4 and saved 4 championship points along the way to a 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 win!!

That match was hilarious. Although Bepa got her revenge, wasn't Anna beating her by the same scoreline and lost the next time they meet?

Mary Jo Fernandez defeats Sabatini from 1-6 0-5. (French Open, 1993 - some say Sabatini's career never recovered after that loss)
The Rubin-Novotna match was a set a piece (tough ones 7-6 5-7) and 5-0 lead for Jana and 0-40 on Rubinīs serve, this one was another choking performance.
Kimiko Date defeats Sabatini from 1-6 0-5 in Miami SF, 1995 (see the above comment)
My scores are only from memory, so they may be wrong give or take a game or two. But those were definitely all classic comebacks/chokes.
Both of this matches were led by Gaby 6-1 5-1, and if you saw Rg 93 it was a comeback rather than a Gaby choke, Mary Joe started to play unbelieveable tennis, Gaby had match points along the way to win in the second set and even served for it at 7-6 again for the third time in the third set but lost 10-8 in the end.

The Date match was a complete choke, that match was one of the worst i have seen Gaby involved. Gaby made around 70 unforced errors and Date had around 50, i remmember the match at some point featured 190 points with 106 being errors , i have this match on tape really sad
Gaby also choked matches against Gagliardi and Sukova in 95 being up a set and about to win the second. Never saw the latter ones.

Serena has done that so many times at grand slams, against Sharapova Aopen 2005, Kim Clijsters Usopen 99 and Aopen 2003, Mauresmo at Wimbledon 2004.

Serena's AO come back against Kim 1-5 in the third.
I think that was bigger because it was a bigger match than the others, and the quality of players were high #1 vs. #3. In the other matches, there's a bigger difference in the rankings.

i was thinking the same thing, it was such a bigger match, it was 2 top 3 players, the semis of a slam, and the hype over the serena slam etc. so for serena to do that, you can't help but agree that mentally she is the toughest.

but the match i love the best is the AUS against Sharapova. Everyone though Maria was the official mental champion etc, but Serena showed Maria something she does have but Serena has even more, and it was just amazing!

I mean the intensity and the "desire" serena shows is worth "feeling" than actually "watching" the match!

Depends on the criteria...obviously the Raymond/Rubin matches from 0-6 0-5 down, but in terms of quality comebacks with the most on the line i'd go with:

Serena def. Clijsters A0 03, (keeps the Serena Slam alive under the most pressured of circumstances...the hype around Kim during that slam was just  )

Venus def Clijsters WB 03, (down a set and a break, ab strain and all, Venus clinched the title for camp Williams with that victory.)

Capriati def Hingis AO 02 (such a TENSE match...can't believe the CAP's fitness pulled her through that one.)

Serena def Sharapova A0 05 (ahh, all is right in the world again..."I cannot believe the CLUTCH forehands from Serena Williams in this set." - Mary Carillo.)

If its the importance of the match and the quality of the opposition, then u have to go with Capriati against Hingis, AO 2002. Grandslam Final against a 3 times champion, down 4 matchpoints. AMAZING

Come back Nastya and don't retire :help:

Actually, at Wimbledon Myskina was trailing Bohmova 5-7 1-4 and 2-4 in the third set.
Against Jankovic she held double match-point in the second but wasted it. In the third Jankovic was serving at 5-1 30-15 but never gained match-point.

Also, Myskina was trailing the "real Top 50" Nicole Pratt 3-6 1-5 in Canada 2003 but managed to win the match.
And I remember the curious match at Roland Garros 2004. Myskina played Chladkova and was 0-3 down in the 1st set and 0-4 in the 2nd but still won in straights 6-3 7-6.
