That's sad for Akgul, she had final points to defend, and in front of her home crowd.

Akgul is slumping quite horribly this year, after such an encouraging 2005 :(

Akgul is in deep shit right now. She lost her finalist points from last year and will drop to around #265 as a result. Keep in mind she's defending 2nd round points from the Australian Open in January...and her ranking won't even be good enough to get her into the qualifying.

If she isn't able to defend those points in Australia, she'll be back to an extremely limited schedule again, with all those tournaments strictly around Asia.

I saw her this summer and it was pretty bad. It really looks like she has no coaching whatsoever. She is basically out there swatting balls. Do you know anything about her coaching - if it exists - and any prospects she may have of getting some decent support?

It's such a shame for the years to go by while a player's opportunities to build skills and improve her game languish. For lack of money? What is it?

Anyone know anything about the current state of affairs with Agkul?
