Well I think she still has to work on her offensive game but her forehand was as good as usual, maybe her 1st serve could have been better, but Elena was obviously in a good shape and Tati broke her with her sheer will, which is good-not only does she know how to break a player who is actually down but also how to play against someone who plays her best :)

Yeah, of course she can still work on her offensive game but still I liked her offensive game today.
I can't say how good Elena was today because I have seen her playing only twice and I don't follow her results. She seemed to be a bit tired for me in the middle of the third set.
In addition Tati's body language was really good today. She seems to have a lot of confidence. I hope she can get deep in this tourney :)

Tati won 6-4 6-3.

She started off slow and her serve was really poor in the first set. She was down 2-4 and made a comeback to win 6-4. Then she started the second set with 2 aces and ended the last game with few aces as well

Now with Momo's out of the tournament, she'd most prolly play Misa who's been serving well.

France's Tatiana Golovin also qualified for the last four after crushing Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands 6-1, 6-2.

It was a match-up between two of the most promising teenagers in the women's game the 18-year-old Golovin, born in Moscow, was a class above dropping just three games against the 17-year-old Krajicek.

"I played a great first set and hit a lot of good winners," said Golovin. "I varied my game and got to the net more which is something I have been trying to do."

Golovin, a quarter-finalist at the US Open this year, was unstoppable in the opening set with a string of winners helping her take it 6-1.

Krajicek, the sister of men's 1996 Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek, seemed overawed by the occasion and showed her frustration by questioning several line calls.

Golovin, ranked 22nd in the world, encountered more resistance in the second set but she served out for the match at 6-2.

The withdrawal of France's top seed Amelie Mauresmo with a shoulder injury has opened up the top half of the draw and the unseeded Golovin will face Russian third seed Elena Dementieva or Swiss fifth seed Patty Schnyder in the last four.

"It is going to be another level as they are two of the best players in the world," said Golovin. "I have to step up my game again if I want to win."

At least she knows what she's doing.

Few more articles that I found when she won her first few matches. Enjoy guys,

Tatiana Golovin of France took on Russia's Elena Likhovtseva for a place in the second round.

Tatiana Golovin of France came from a set down to beat Russia's Elena Likhovtseva on Tuesday (3rd October) in the first round of the Stuttgart Grand Prix.

Golovin eventually completed a 4-6 6-0 6-3 win to earn a second round match against either Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic or Francesca Schiavone of Italy.

Among other first round matches, there were victories for Germans Martina Muller and Anna-Lena Groenefeld, while Russia's Dinara Safina celebrated her rise into the world's top ten by saving three match points on her way to defeating Italy's Mara Santangelo.

The first round action continued at the WTA Tour's Stuttgart Grand Prix on Tuesday.

Tatiana Golovin of France took on Russia's Elena Likhovtseva for a place in the second round.

The first set went the way of the Russian - by six games to four.

But Golovin powered her way back into the match in the second set - Likhovtseva broken three times as the Frenchwoman took it 6-0 to even things up at one set each.

Golovin changed her outfit in the third set, but continued to dictate proceedings.

She took the set by six games to three, earning her a place in the second round against either Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic or Francesca Schiavone of Italy.

A week after losing to Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova in her opening match at the Luxembourg Championship, Golovin was relieved to have come through this time, after another tricky first round encounter.

"It was a very tough first match. Elena (Likhovtseva) has a lot of experience, and she played a really good first set, and it's always tough for me to come back from a season where you play outdoors, and then you come indoors and the court is a lot faster. I had a really tough draw last week (she lost in the first round of the Luxembourg Championship to Daniela Hantuchova), so I'm just really excited that I got through the first match.": Tatiana Golovin.

France's Tatiana Golovin also reached the quarter-finals in style defeating Czech qualifier Iveta Benesova 6-4, 6-3.

“It was difficult to get momentum at times because she was either hitting winners or making mistakes,” said Golovin. “I was made to work hard but came through and I am looking forward to the next round.”

Golovin, born in Russia, could have faced top seed Mauresmo in the last eight but the Wimbledon champion was forced to pull out with a shoulder injury that had troubled her for several days.

Hope she'll make it to 4-0 :) Anyway Petrova is definitely the more agreeable opponent out of the two (BTW Tati's H2H with Sveta is 1-1).

Nadya is the lesser of the two evils though.
Tati stands a better chance against Nadya than Sveta but it would still be a tough match for her. Nadya's serve been great and she's playing much better now as to compared in USO. Tati needs to play more aggresive and cut the points short as much as she can because she'd prolly still be tired tomorrow.

Interestingly though, Tati owns Nadya but Nadya's the one who's experienced in the final.

Good luck Tati.

(Stuttgart) Tatiana Golovin of France is the first one to advance to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final after defeating Patty Schnyder of Switzerland in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, and 7-5. After 2 hours and 11 minutes, the Moscow born Frenchwoman finished the match at the first matchpoint she got, when Schnyder hit a backhand into the net. Golovin reached her first final this year and might be aiming for the Porsche Targa 4, that is to be won in the final on Sunday of the $650 000 event in Stuttgart’s Porsche Arena.

Schnyder didn't have a chance in the first set. Golovin broke the Swiss in the first service game and the third taking a 4-0 lead, after taking the seventh game the Frenchwoman had won the first set 6-1 with ease.

In the second set Schnyder found a way to come back into the match, and broke Golovin in the fifth game. After holding on to her own service, Schnyder took the lead 4-2. When Schnyder was serving for the set at 5-4, Golovin saw her chance when the Swiss smashed a ball into the net and hit one wide. Golovin broke back to tie 5-all when Schnyder hit a volley into the net.

Golovin could not hold on to her service game this time, Schnyder hit a forehand winner on 30-40 for the break and the 6-5 lead. Serving to win the second set, Schnyder did face a breakpoint, but she hit a winning smash for deuce. Golovin hit the ball wide for the Swiss first set point, and she took it with a winner, 7-5.

The deciding third set was tied 5-all after Golovin first broke in the fifth game but could not hang on to her own service in the sixth game. The Swiss tried to tie 6-all to stay in the match, but saw Golovin reaching matchpoint after the Frenchwoman dropped a ball right behind the net. Schnyder could only return that one into the net. In the next rally Schnyder hit a backhand straight into the net, and Golovin took the match for a spot in the final.

http://www.teamwta.com/images/stories/WTAplayers/Golovin%20Stuttgart%203.jpg“I am really motivated to play good at the final, with that Porsche next to court,” Golovin said. “I guess Patty was not yet into the match in the first set, she started to step it up a little in the second.”

“It was a good match today, and I had reached the level that I have been working for all the time,” she concluded analysing her own game play.

About her possible opponents in Sunday’s final, the Frenchwoman said: “I have been playing both Nadia and Kuzzy, I have a good record against Nadia and I played a good match against Kuzzy, so I don’t mind who I play against in the final.”

“I am a little superstitious but I don’t win matches because of my dress, but I will start in white again and maybe change to black later in the match,” she said about changing from the white to the black dress in every match. “I was wearing the white one in New York and I just wanted to show the black one as well,” she said with a large smile on her face.

“I like this tournament, I have never played in Filderstadt, but the way things are going here are very nice. Things go smoothly here. All I have to think of is tennis, and the rest has been taking care for by the tournament organisation.”

tati refused to hit a backhand, shocked patty with her defensive ability, and was aggressive as ever today. incredible.

the fact that she might actually win this final makes it so much more stressful. :tape:

Nadya's serve been solid.
She just held after wasting 4857349875 GPs.
She needs to break as soon as she can and put the pressure back.
Come on Tati!!!!!

Tati should have won the TB. Nadya injured her ankle and she couldn't capitalize it.
It's very disappointing but overall it's been an amazing week.

Now rest up and please do not lose in the first round in Zurich.
Or if she wants to lose, let it be straight forward.

Anyway Tati looked really nervous today and wasn't as fast as in the past days.

But great week Tania! so proud of you!

well a great week for Tati, i hope she would be able to pull out the win, but i think she was too nervous.

i got up at 6am to watch it on the tennis channel, in the first set Tati wasnt playing as well compared to earlier this week. her ground strokes were landing short and she looked a little lost on court. she broke for a *3-2 lead, and when serving for 4-2 she thought she got some bad calls and it sorta went down hill from there. Petrova was playing very very well in the first set though, alot of the points were ending in winnners. Petrova was coming to net alot too, and Tati didnt have many chances to hit her forehand.

the start of the second was better. but there was a game where Tati had a game point and should have held, but got broken. and other game where she had a break point, but Nadia played a great point. That would have given Tati an early lead, i was pissed about that. Nadia played a bad game and Tati did a good job of getting back on serve and getting to the tiebreak. there were a close rallies in the tiebreak that Tati couldnt finish, and i think when Nadia took the injury timeout and i thought she really wasnt too injured (she had just lost a mini break and it went to 4 all) and Tati lost focus.

oh well, im pissed that Tati lost such a great chance to win a tier 2 tournment, hopefully she can win something soon. great week anyways Tati.

Cheer up guys, it was a great week for her! She played a lot, she was tired in the final but made some amazing shots! :worship: She is still so young, she has enough time to become a champion not just a runner-up. Thank you Tati for this week! Good luck next time! :yeah:

Damn, poor Tati. I was so happy when I saw she won yesterday and so sad when I saw she lost today. It is very hard to beat a player as good as Petrova 4 straight times. I hope Tati can win her title sooner rather than later. Hopefully by next spring she will have won a title.

from wtatour.com:

"I have to give her all of the credit, she was using her forehand down the line this time and making fewer mistakes," said Golovin, who was playing her third final and first at the Tier II level or above. "She started off really well and I think used a different strategy this time. I was tired from my matches earlier in the week, but overall I'm happy with my performance."
