WELL DONE YULIA and YULIANA!!!! :worship: :worship:

Oct 28th, 2006, 09:05 PM
Today I went to Hasselt and attended the Qualification Round 1. Yuliana was playing Elise Tamaela and Yuliana played really well to win 63 63. She faces Anne Kremer in round two :D

I also got the chance to speak to Yuliana after the match and obtain her autograph and she is one of the nicest players I have ever met :hearts: I love her even more now :D

My congratulations to Yuliana!:clap2:

Oct 29th, 2006, 06:41 PM
Yuliana lost to Kremer today in 3 sets. I saw Kremer yesterday and she played like shit so Anne must have played really well or Yuliana sucked

But with so many withdrawals, Yuliana is already guaranteed a place in the Main Draw :D

Oct 30th, 2006, 07:46 PM
Yuliana has been placed as a LL and she has a nice draw. Round 1 vs WC Caroline Maes and Round 2 vs Santangelo or Krajicek :)

The face Rodionova and Vanc in R1...

Dec 30th, 2006, 03:07 PM
the head to head of Yuliana and Galina is tied at 2-2, Galina getting the last two wins, both on hard courts. Yuliana's two wins were on clay. Could be a tough one for Yuliana...

Nevertheless, a good fight from Yuliana

Jan 1st, 2007, 12:19 PM
Yuliana :hearts: After some not so good results lately, she returns with a very good week with wins over Yuan and Voskoboeva, and really pushing Poutchkova  :yeah:

Congrats and keep going in the doubles with Tanya! :bounce:

Jan 1st, 2007, 12:23 PM
I was at this match.
Yuliana got a code violation for unsportsman like conduct in the 3rd set at 30-40 then she double faulted & lost her serve. The warning was complete crap the umpire said she hit the ball at the linesman, she didn't. Also after the 2nd set Putchkova took a long toilet break then had the trainer she was clearly struggling in the heat, it took maybe 15 minutes.
Perebynis was there supporting her :)

Good luck to Yuliana for dubs & the rest of the season:)

Jan 1st, 2007, 12:28 PM
Thanks for the report ~ l Naomi l ~ :) It is nice to here what happened. It seems a tough match.

Nice to see more people here :D

Sydney Qualifying Round 1
vs Emma Laine

Yuliana leads head to head 2-0
wins over Emma at Gold Coast 62 62 and 63 21 ret. at Bangalore both last year. Hopefully Yuliana can carry on what looks to be some "nice" form.

Jan 5th, 2007, 06:32 AM
Yuliana def Laine 6-1 2-6 6-3.

I think this is a very good win considering she played & lost doubles on the Gold Coast last night. They finished doubles at about 9.30pm which is 10.30 pm in Sydney and then she had to get to Sydney and be fresh enough to play her match at 4pm in Sydney.

Good work Yuliana:)
Next up is Rezai. Rezai fed aussie wild card Hewson 61 46 62.
Rezai is going to be a very tough one.

Jan 5th, 2007, 07:36 AM
:yeah: Good win for Yuliana

But Rezai will be tough, the fact she dropped a set to Hewson could be eencouraging.

Jan 5th, 2007, 09:52 AM
Yuliana didn't play well today...She will have to improve, overall on her serve games, to beat Rezai...Go Yuliana! ;)

Jan 5th, 2007, 11:12 PM
Great win for Yuly yesterday :yeah: :clap2:

I really think she can beat Rezai, she just has to not do 7 double faults and 0 aces again  Good luck!

Jan 6th, 2007, 03:59 AM
Sydney Q2: FEDAK def. Rezai 4-6 6-4 6-1

Great win!

Jan 6th, 2007, 09:21 AM

Yuliana was also down a break in the 2nd set. Great fight. There was a rain delay at the end of the 2nd set, I think it was at 5-5.

Jan 7th, 2007, 09:11 AM
Yuliana   :clap2: She just continues to impress this year! :yeah:

She has to make the 2R again to defend her points from last year, I think she can do it :D

Great work Yuly!

Jan 8th, 2007, 01:54 AM

not really...if she plays the way she's been playing this year she should win easily. :)

Jan 15th, 2007, 10:11 AM

Was really Sugi, as Yuliana led 40 first set when Venus was spraying the ball everywhere but in the court.
I hope Yuliana can get back to winning ways - maybe an ITF tournament or two? - some wins will boost her confidence - I hope!!

Mar 23rd, 2007, 05:38 PM

I saw Yuliana for the first time at Birmingham. Apart from appearing to be a really good player, the thing that impressed me the most was her positive and cheerful attitude on court. Seems a really nice lady.

Exactly!! Thats exactly what i think too!

Yeah welcome guys :D Great to see other people appreciate Yuliana too :worship:

I don't know what happened  Maybe she was tired from Birmingham or just outplayed. Still, she's in good form despite the loss which is the main thing. Hopefully she plays doubles with Perebiynis again, I think they made the Semifinals last year right?

Jun 20th, 2007, 08:20 AM
Yes I suppose ;)
Besides Zi is a player who is playing like a top 100 with some of her latest results, as is Yuliana. It is just such a shame they had to play eachother this early in the tournament :o

Yuliana lost in three sets 67 75 62. I do not want to sound paranoid but Yuliana seems to have alot of tough draws week in week out. Same with Yuliya Beygelzimer.
I like the way Yuliana plays the big tournaments - only way to break through. No hiding on the ITF circuit for her. BETTER LUCK NEXT WEEK.

Gold Coast Quallies
R1 def. Australian Wildcard
R2 def. Olga Poutchkova

Very good start.

Dec 29th, 2007, 09:45 PM
Poutchkova is a head case, she definitely had the stronger shots than Yuliana but Yuliana was much stronger mentally. Yuliana kept fighting and always stayed positive. Poutchkova led 5-3 in the 1st set and when Yuliana came back got really frustrated, she yelled something in Russian at her Coach/Dad who promptly got up and left. Then Poutchkova started hitting the craziest shots, she wasn't moving her feet, wasn't even trying and they were missing by heaps! Yuliana just kept getting everything back and using the angles well. The difference between the two was definitely their attitude.

Yuliana plays Schruff today & also doubles with Nakamura. Good Luck Yuliana.

2. First-round eyewitness report: Fedak v Krajíček
(Monday 11th June 2007)

Nice winner, nice loser:
+ Yuliana Fedak [Q] d. Michaëlla Krajíček, 7-6 (7/5) 6-4

I saw the whole match on Centre Court. I like both players, but I wish Michaëlla would revert to the hairstyle she had when she won 's-Hertogenbosch 2006. She looked so much cuter and more beautiful when she had a ponytail than with this short, boyish haircut.

Yuliana, who turned 24 three days before this match, is one of the cutest, prettiest players on the WTA Tour, and she looks absolutely delectable now. She was the one I wanted to win.

Yuliana has improved beyond recognition from the weak player whom Maria Kirilenko beat in the first round of Birmingham 2005. Yuliana now has wonderful court-craft, all-court flair, and more power than two years ago, as well as frustrating opponents by getting a lot of balls back.

Big-serving Michaëlla, who has long take-backs on her groundstrokes, tried to overpower Yuliana predominantly from the baseline until she [Michaëlla] was *2-4 down, then came to the net a lot, led 5-4* (30/0), 6-5* (30/0) and 6-6 (5/1*), but Yuliana staged an amazing recovery to win the last 6 points of the tiebreak and take the first set.

Yuliana romped to a 5-2* lead in the second set (saving 3 break-points at *4-2), but failed to serve it out at *5-3 despite a match-point miraculously saved by Michaëlla with an off-forehand return-winner that caught the outside edge of the sideline!

Nevertheless, Yuliana broke to love to seal a 7-6 6-4 victory which pleased me greatly. It was a lovely match to start my Birmingham 2007 experience - the best of the day in terms of the quality of the rallies.

First set
FEDAK _* *@*___* *T 7(7)

Yuliana serving 3-2: Michaëlla hit some nice short angles, but netted a backhand and screamed. 15/0. Michaëlla went for a crosscourt backhand return-winner, but it was just wide. 30/0. Michaëlla backhand volley-winner. 30/15. Yuliana hit a pinpoint forehand winner down the line. 40/15. Yuliana played an error-forcing one-two punch.

Michaëlla serving 2-4: Michaëlla backhand just long. 0/15. Yuliana mishit a backhand long. 15/15. A hard, deep serve forced Yuliana to earth a backhand return. 30/15. Yuliana backhand wide. 40/15. A dipping return at Michaëlla's feet forced her to hit a backhand volley wide. 40/30. Yuliana lobbed long after two smashes from Michaëlla.

I sensed a tiny shift in momentum to Michaëlla in that game. It seemed that coming to the net more would give her the edge over Yuliana.

Yuliana serving 4-3: Yuliana backhand long. 0/15. Yuliana forehand smash-winner. 15/15. Michaëlla came to the net, forcing Yuliana to hit a backhand pass wide. 15/30. Michaëlla came to the net, forcing Yuliana to hit a backhand lob wide. 15/40 (2 BPs). Early in a long rally, I thought that a low ball from Yuliana was going to force Michaëlla into error, but Michaëlla ended up hitting an off-forehand winner to break back.

Michaëlla serving 4-4: Yuliana hit a forehand winner off a short, high ball from Michaëlla. 0/15. Service-winner out wide. 15/15. Michaëlla served & volleyed with a backhand volley-winner. 30/15. Ace out wide, in the corner. 40/15. Second serve: Yuliana netted a forehand. Michaëlla was looking to serve & volley on every serve now.

Yuliana kept saying, "Ya ya ya ya ya, c'mon" after points.

Yuliana serving 5-6: Yuliana sprayed a forehand wide off a long ball from Michaëlla. 0/15. Yuliana crosscourt backhand just wide. 0/30. Yuliana's second serve was just inside the centre-line(!); after a rally, Michaëlla hit an off-forehand wide. 15/30. After a delightful sliced forehand, Yuliana hit a forehand winner down the line, though I thought it might have been wide! 30/30. Michaëlla netted a forehand off a short ball from Yuliana, and shouted something long in Dutch. 40/30. Yuliana hit a forehand winner down the line and said "c'mon"; Michaëlla threw her racket.

Wow - Yuliana had to recover from 0/30 both times she served to stay in the first set, and could easily have been facing set-points if her balls on the lines at 0/30 and 15/30 had been called out!

Another qualifier to successfully negotiate the first round was Vakulenko's compatriot Fedak, and the world No.129 was responsible for the day's biggest upset when she ousted No.14 seed Krajíček from the draw. The match was a tightly contested affair, and the final result hinged on just a handful of points, but it was the 24-year-old Ukrainian who held her nerve at these crucial moments; reeling off six straight points to snatch the first-set tiebreak, and then breaking Krajíček in the final game of the match to secure a 7-6(5) 6-4 win.

3. Second-round result (Wednesday 13th June 2007)

+ Yuliana Fedak [Q] d. Milagros Sequera, 3-6 6-4 6-3

I didn't see this match because I chose Mirza v Santangelo instead.

4. Third-round result (Friday 15th June 2007)

- Yuliana Fedak [Q] lt. LI,NA [4], 4-6 4-6

I didn't watch this match properly, because my attention was divided between this on Court 4 and Marion Bartoli's match against Angelique Kerber on Court 3; I then had to walk out on both of them in order to watch Maria Kirilenko play Jelena Janković in the match of the day on Centre Court.

The Vosko match was long and hard, probably took a lot out of her.

Apr 8th, 2008, 08:30 AM
Thanks for the pictures :D

Apr 9th, 2008, 03:33 AM

Yuliana :(
Goerges d. Fedak 6/4 6/1

I don't understand. She started the year so promising.

Apr 30th, 2008, 02:21 AM
Hopefully better days ahead for Yuliana!

May 6th, 2008, 06:53 AM
Yuliana is sweet. I was at Amelia Island and saw her loss to Razzano.

Yuliana needs a confidence boost. At every point she lost she looked back and glared at her coach (Alona Bondarenko did the same thing in her match against Sharapova, plus she yelled at her coach a number of times -- reminds me a bit of Myskina a couple years ago). She needs to project more confidence on the court to her opponent when things are not going well. Of course, easier said than done. But the negativity drags her down.

I would like to see her do well this year. 100 pts would move her up to the high 70s.

May 6th, 2008, 07:13 AM
It`s great to see Yuliana`s fan base growing. I also became acquainted with her at Amelia Island. Hopefully some will be putting up results here. If not I`ll try to follow and post them myself.

May 23rd, 2008, 01:55 PM
Yuliana is in half final of double in Strasbourg.

She sent me yesterday some pictures of the Strasbourg tournements, they're available at http://www.yulianafedak.com

Good job qualifying at Linz!

Jan 2nd, 2009, 07:46 AM
Brisbane qualifying round 1

Fedak def. Pandzic 75 61 :)

Jan 2nd, 2009, 11:17 PM
I watched this match yesteday. Yuliana is really fun to watch. Is a fantastic mover, so many times she won points that she looked like she was out of only to turn it around and hit a winner.

Yuliana like many players started slowly going down an early break but by the end she was well in control.

Yuliana was actually supposed to play on a different court (the court that had King-Pin on it) but it was still going and the other court (which was better as it had a shade cover) had finished so Yuliana made them let her play on that court. For awhile it looked like they wouldn't:rolleyes:

Jan 3rd, 2009, 12:25 AM
Thanks for the report! Yep, Yuliana is very fast. I also love the way she talks to herself to keep motivated. She is also friendly so do not hesitate to talk to her. :)

Jan 4th, 2009, 11:38 AM
Yuliana lost to Vinci:sad:

Good Luck in doubles on Monday.

Do you know where Yuliana plays next week?

Yuliana has a lot of points to defend over the next two months in Sydney & Paris. At least not much in AO.

Jan 4th, 2009, 12:11 PM
Hi Tully. Her official site says she is going next to Medibank then the AO. And yes, hoping for good results in the Brisbane doubles.

May 22nd, 2009, 10:35 PM
Hmm, the link just there was down when I tried it.
Yuliana was playing at a good level in the RG qualifications, but came across a fiery Larcher De Brito and there was not much she could do. So I assume she'll be about the ranking level where she enters Wimbledon qualifications as well.

May 22nd, 2009, 11:00 PM
Hi Lynxy. Yes, I haven`t been able to access her website for some time, probably a couple of months. Yuliana is a fine athlete, and this is the more remarkable when you see her in person and see how small she is. I think the tour site may over estimate her a bit at 110 lbs but she is a firecracker. She has played a lot of challengers in the U.S. this year and has done pretty well. Sorry to hear she went out of RG qualifying but here is hoping for some more good results this year.

P.S. I got a few good photos of her at Amelia Island `08. They are on this thread, posts 155-157.

Jun 3rd, 2009, 11:06 PM
From her adventures in the Roland Garros qualifiers:

Jun 4th, 2009, 05:17 AM
Wow, great, great photos Lynxy! Glad to meet up with another Yuliana fan. Let`s continue to post results and any pics here.

Sep 21st, 2009, 04:26 PM
Yuliana didn't make it into the main draw in Tashkent. The Q1 seed fell to Alexandra Panova (5/Rus) 6-3, 2-6, 3-6 in the final q-round.

Sep 21st, 2009, 04:36 PM
Hi Rix, thanks for sharing results for Yuliana.

Sep 21st, 2009, 05:18 PM

BTW, I restored the links to the pictures I took during Berlin and Strasbourg in 2007 and added some extra from Strasbourg (posts 83 (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=10773902&postcount=83) and 93 (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=10773902&postcount=93)).

Sep 22nd, 2009, 01:52 PM
Yuliana entered the main draw as lucky loser, but wasn't that lucky in the first round. She lost 2-6, 4-6 to Darya Kustova(BLR).

Sep 22nd, 2009, 05:14 PM
Hi Rix. Those are some excellent photos! I especially like the one from the side angle of her stretching. I`d say donate some of the pics to her official site but last I checked the link wasn`t working. Yes, let`s keep this thread alive with up to date results.

Oct 3rd, 2009, 09:50 PM
Yuliana enetered the $75k+H tournament in Jounieh, Lebanon. She is 15th on the entry list at the moment.

Oct 5th, 2009, 06:17 AM
Tough draw. First round against Patricia Mayr (Aut/2/ITF-86), today court 2 2nd match (matches start at 13.00).

Oct 5th, 2009, 07:09 AM
Cmon Yuliana!

Oct 6th, 2009, 01:45 AM
Yuliana advanced. Was up 4-1 and Mayr retired.

Keep going, Yuliana! :bounce: :bounce:

Oct 8th, 2009, 03:25 PM
Well unfortunately today`s news isn`t good. She lost to De Los Rios 6-2 6-1. I`d really like to see her finish the year strong with some money for her pocket so she isn`t playing for just expenses. Let`s keep an eye out for her next tournament!

Oct 8th, 2009, 04:20 PM
Yuliana

Oct 9th, 2009, 09:52 PM
She made the finals in the doubles competition:

Oct 10th, 2009, 07:49 AM
Excellent! Go for the win!

Oct 11th, 2009, 05:57 AM
Well word around is that she did not win the doubles title but good run to the final! Let us all keep an eye out for her next tournament. :)

Oct 11th, 2009, 07:27 AM
ATM she's 20th on the alternate list for Poitiers, prio 1.
BTW, quite a strong entry list so far with 5 top-50 players (more than the WTA-tournemant in Tashkent)

Oct 11th, 2009, 05:06 PM
Thanks for the info. 20th on the list, so her chances of getting in are not good are they?

Oct 11th, 2009, 06:39 PM
No. It starts Oct. 26th when the WTA-tour is finished for the year (except the YEC/MMC). Some lower ranked (below 40 usually) girls will desperarely try to gain a few extra points before the new season starts, so there won't be so many withdrawals.

Oct 12th, 2009, 03:36 AM
Is there anything else for her to play between now and the 26th?

Oct 12th, 2009, 07:25 AM
As far as I can tell no other ITF tournaments. Maybe Moscow or Luxembourg?

Oct 12th, 2009, 08:24 PM
I don`t know. We can just keep an eye on the challenger board...

Oct 17th, 2009, 10:35 AM
She did enter Luxembourg, unfortunately she lost in first round qualification from Estelle Guisard (Fra, ITF-292), 0-6, 2-6.....

Oct 18th, 2009, 08:10 PM
Yuliana will play doubles with Katalin Marosi from Hungary. Their first oppenents are the number 3 seeds Jans/Rosolska from Poland, the losing finalists in Linz.

Oct 19th, 2009, 01:35 AM
Thanks Rix, here is hoping for good results in doubles!

Oct 21st, 2009, 01:28 PM
She lost,5-7, 7-6(2), 4-10.

After the AO Yuliana went to Pattaya and lost 1st round qualifying to Tomoko Yonemura (Jpn), 3-6, 6-7(4). She teamed up with Veronika Kapshay (Ukr) and lost first round against Gerasimou (Gre) / Zhou (Chn), 4-6, 6-4, [4-10].
After Pattaya came Dubai, where she lost in the first round qualification match against Kirsten Flipkens (Bel), 3-6, 7-5, 4-6.
At the moment she is in Kuala Lumpur. Also here she lost in the first round of qualificationn this time to Anna Gerasimou, 6-2, 3-6, 5-7.
She is doubling with countrywoman Yuliya Beygelzimer. Their first round match will be against Arina Rodionova (Rus) and Anastasia Rodionova (Aus).
