Here is the interview

Sep 18th Vaidisova

Q: You are very talented player, already the top 10 at 17 years old. Can you make some comparison between you and Sharapova?
A: I donít see any similarity between us. Of course Maria is a great player.

Q: This is your first time in China. Whatís your general impression of the city and the people?
A: I came here two nights ago. Iíve been to Asia before and Iím happy to be back. Iíve only see the sight from the hotel and the court, and I havenít got the chance to go out. Perhaps Iíll dinner out tonight.

Q: It is a very strong draw this year. Whatís your expectation of the tournament?
A: There are some top ten players here, like Davenport and Mauresmo. I hope I can play good matches.

Q: You are only 17 years old, and you have and very different life with other common teenagers. Do you like this kind of life style?
A: I definitely love tennis. Iím very fortunate to do what I love and make it as a profession. I can travel around the world and see different countries and people. I definitely donít regret being a tennis player.

Q: You were in the semi-final in French Open, and in the 3rd round of other 3 Grand Slams. It seems that you like hard court most, but you did the best on clay.
A: yeah, itís kind of ironic. Hard court is my favorite. I grew up on clay. So thereís no big difference between surfaces for me.

Q: In all the four Gland Slams, which one do you think you have the best shot?
A: Any of them. But my favorite is the US Open.

Q: Whatís your goal in China Open?
A: I will try to go as far as possible. It is a tough draw, and Iíll try to stay here until the weekend.

Q: whatís your goal of your career?
A: I hope that after my career is done, I have no regret. I will give 100% to my career. And Iím proud of my career as well.

Q: You were born in Germany, then moved to Czech, and then went to US to train. Which country do you think you really belong to?
A: 100% Czech Republic. My family and home is there. And I havenít been back to Germany for 9 or 10 years.

Vaidisova make use of every bit of time or space to find the training court

vaidsova trained so hard today, she destined for the time, and then find the training court everywhere, she was so hard and carefully. She didn't train as her coach said, she discussed with her coach sometimes, and it seemed that they were quarreling

she trained so well today, good shot at base line, her serve was good too,if she could play the game like this, and she might be a dangerous player for every other players.

sorry for my poor english,i can just translate some parts, sorry

How can she lose just her first match in Beijing!!I can't believe that. All the day I was trying to find a way to Beijing to see her QF but now all I do is in vain.Poor Nicole,as far as I heard ,she made too many errors,I just saw the second set and the beginning of the third set on TV,she played pretty good,no signs she would lose today...

I have no idea about coach things.I saw she practised with his coach yesterday, seemed like she's not in good form, making too many errors. What's more she should improve her footstep a little bit.

Vaidisova
Sep 20th, 2006, 03:20 PM
I remember back in Stanford one of the ESPN reporters said that footspeed and movement were among the things that Nicole was looking to improve in her game...

That was back in July (and they've probably been working on it before then anyways) and now it is almost October, and it seems there hasn't been much improvement (hasn't shown in her results lately).

So I think that maybe Nicole needs new people around her to help improve and work on her game.

You don't have to be worry.Of course, she lost, but the way she has played on the second set was amazing(only two or three errors). The way she played on the second set make me think that she will have a brillant future if she can play like that over two set.She just have to improve her physical and some things too,but she will be a complete player.I always believe that Vaidisova,in one or two years, will be the new number one for a long time but she needs to put in form her game, and that take time.
Sorry fo bad english :tape:

Vaidisova
Sep 20th, 2006, 03:39 PM
Well Nicole has a break now until Oct 9. She has 4 more tournaments this year with two of them being Tier I.

I really hope she can get it together and find better form because the remainder of the year is gonna be awful if she keeps having these losses.

  1. Q: It is said that you were influenced by your mother to play tennis. Can you talk a little more about that?

A: My father used to play tennis, and my mother used to play track and field. So I used to take part in many sports, like ballet, basketball and tennis. But tennis is my favorite.

  2. Q: You won easily in your second set, but you made many mistakes in the third set at the base line. Can you say something about that?

A: I played a stupid game today. I had some chances in the first set. But I played badly in the second set, and lost in the third set as well. Sugiyama played very well.

  3. Q: Since Novotna won Wimbledon in 1998, no player in your country has won a Grand Slam champion. So if you had the chance to win a Grand Slam, which one do you like the best to win?

A: I’m only 17 years old, so I still have a lot of time and chances to take part in different kind of games. I’ve been working really hard so far and hope there will be good results. And If I could choose, I hope it could be the US Open.

  4. Q: If you had the chance to participate in the year ending championships, what was your expectation?

A: It was tough to play in the year ending tournament. I already lost some points and I still had the chance. I will play in some indoor games in Europe, and I like indoor games quite much. I hope I can get some more points.

Second round (Wednesday 20th September)
------------

When ultracute Maria Kirilenko lost to Peng,Shuai, I was sad that her title-defence came to such an early end, without the mouthwatering quarter-final showdown against Nicole that I had been looking forward to. Then I got a nasty surprise:

- NICOLE VAIDIäOVŃ [4] lt. Sugiyama,Ai, 4-6 6-1 3-6

I must admit I didn't see this one coming, but it's understandable. Sugiyama gave eventual champion Maria Sharapova a torrid time in the Wimbledon 2004 quarter-finals, knocked Martina Hingis out of this year's Wimbledon, and took a set off Justine Henin-Hardenne at the US Open.

First set

===========================
SONY ERICSSON CHAMPIONSHIPS
(Madrid, Spain; indoor hard; WTA season-ending championships)
=========================== (7th-12th November 2006)

Only the top eight qualify, and a month ago, I felt confident that Nicole would be one of them. But her early loss at the US Open has left her in 11th position, and with only seven weeks to go, her even earlier exit from Beijing was a real missed opportunity to rack up some valuable Race-points.

Race to the Sony Ericsson Championships as of 25th September 2006:

1. JUSTINE HENIN-HARDENNE (3473 points) - qualified
2. AM…LIE MAURESMO (2872) - qualified
3. MARIA SHARAPOVA (2727) - qualified
4. Svetlana Kuznetsova (2433) - in line to qualify
5. Kim Clijsters (1860) - in line to qualify
6. Martina Hingis (1839) - in line to qualify
7. Elena Dementieva (1704) - in line to qualify
8. Nadia Petrova (1598) - in line to qualify
9. patty schnyder (1392)
10. dinara safina (1363)
11. nicole vaidiöovŠ (1169)

I wouldn't be surprised if Henin-Hardenne and/or Clijsters withdrew, as they are both nursing serious injuries right now. But Nicole's goal should be to finish in the top eight of the Race.

To reply to your question.
I don't think that she needs a new trainer. The problem is not here. She has played a semi-final,as we know in Rg.It's always difficult for a teenager who did great results to come back and confirm. It's all about time right now.Nicole improves more and more each time I watched her on tv.The second in Beijing against Ai was a very brillant set.Only two or three unforced errors.
So,let her being more mature.(She's so demanding on the court, and can lose her concentration because of her frustation).Plus, she has to work on her footstep,physical...plenty of things to improve, but it would be not funny if she was the perfect player at 17 years old, lol.
EDIT:To finish,I have to say that I'm graceful about the way she planned her shedule of the year. She's not like some girls who tournement over tournement. :help: That's great.I'm just afraid right now about this 4 weeks in a row to have the chance to play in Madrid, but a chance is minimum.
That's all! ;) :)

I agree with Pharrell,"Nicole improves more and more each time" but she didn't do well against Ai at the first set, when she wanted to attack, she made a lot of UE,but she fought back at the second set,and at the third set,i didn't know what happened, because at that time, the TV showed some news:o In the whole match, she played well at the base line, but she wasn't power play

I think, yeah, she needs to improve her footstep, but you know, she is tall,it's a little difficult, like Maria Sharapova,it is hard for them to move widely,of course,it is also a problem for her,if she wants to play better,it is an important question

But i think the most important thing is her spirit,i think she has to learn something from Henin, she is really a great flighter, you know, nicole is young,so sometimes when she loses some points, she is angry and nervous or loses her mind, that is bad for a match,so i think she needs to play more matches to get more experience

well,i also agree with your EDIT:p so far,she has just joined 15 tournements,it is good, yeah,i don't wanna her to play tournement over tournement, and then get hurt, that was worse:rolleyes:.oh, 4 weeks in a row ,that seems to be very busy, but i think if you are a real player, you have to do it,so i just hope she is ok with all the tournements

Just come back to shcool and did my homeworks(plus, don't school tomorrow because my teachers are on strike, yeah yeah, lol, the french people like to be on strike!)
I reply to you.I agree with you ;) She plays more better but she has a little mental stagnation since Rg and the Fed Cup,I think. But not very very important. For her young age, she's very impressive. Her footstep is not very effective for the moment, but like you said, she's tall.
To talk about her spirit,I think that she has a good spririt,it's more about the way she's acting on the cour.Even if she wants to win,she loses her concentration and can lose her match beacause of that. That's sad because against Clijsters in Stanford or against Ai on the first, she had some much opportunities. But,I don't worry about all this things, she's very young.I think that when people says that she's "overrated";I found that funny to say that a player of 17 years old can be "overrated" ;)
Beijing was just a little "error.lol!
