Hey mates...

Maybe a good idea if you want to show some of your holiday pics to fellow Lena fans to put them here, you can also tell stories with them if you like, to give your fellow Lena fans an idea of the region where you were what you did etc. etc. sounds fun to me....

I put mine up as soon as i paid the doctor a visit (been posting that for the 3rd time already, think you all must be tired of that by now :p  )

I can still remember the stories of my parents about their holidays in Scotland (1977-1978??) and the stories as well of my elder sister who made a trip there when she was working a year in England (at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Cobham, in the neighbourhood of London)...

Nice pics Capt..

Have the same thing with my hair on pics as well at times, sometimes its more blond prob becuz of the sun and water...

Also i am blonder then i was before (orginally i am blond, think pic's somewhere in the pics of your fellow Elena fans thread) since i've have dyed my hair a couple of years ago just for fun (around 1999/2000 or so) outcome was that i got black/brownish/reddish... it was nice, but havent done it anymore and will not do it anymore ;), sometimes my hair still looks a little reddish and ppl ask if i have orange/reddish hair originally and if i can't stand the sun, hehe i have to tell them then that i've painted it some years ago, and sometimes you still can see ;)

Hi all!

I seem to be experiencing some difficulties with posting the pics here... I already uploaded them to an MSN Group, but for some reason I can't get them to be displayed here.

What I do is the following: I open 'Properties', I copy the URL and paste it here, then use IMG tags. But for some reason it isn't diplayed...

Any suggestions as for what I could do?

Well no Alenyaa i wasn't going for a look like that..., it jus looks a little reddish, not too much though

it's just sometimes when the sun is shining on my head, in the summer i am more blonde then in the winter, in the winter it looks more brownish

I have some recent pics of me, not sure when to post them in the other thread.

BTW that pic ya posted Alenyaa is that a famous person, cuz the pic is reminding me of a pic that my mexican mate showed me how i looked like (well my curly hair) can't remember his name though, i mean from the guy Alenyaa posted.

Although i would love to have my hair dyed black, blue or red like Matt Bellamy of Muse did, or the nice colour of hair of Brian Molko...

No Dani, i won't dye my hair anymore, it stays like it stays, in the summer it looks really blonde, cuz of the sun and the water, (and you can see the black more underneath it...)

In the winter its more black, dunno why, as well as its black if i just come out of the shower...

Well i wanted to post pics tonite, but since my dad's PC is a little fucked up, i am afraid i can't, the half of my family has to make use of my pc now that the other is fucked up a little (sth with the video card fan inside, we had a repairman last week but he had the wrong part becuz he thought it was the main hard disk fan, and today i think it burnt through, becuz of the smell)

See if i can make some digi pics from the view outside of my bedroom ;) or from this room or my bedroom itself, or some pics off the i-net from my village ;)

Hehe well that traffic sign, lay down in our ditch, prob some drunk guys who throwed it in when passing, the traffic sign is from a view years back, when they were taring (sp? from tar) the road for our house, they put the sign there in order to warn for mud from lil stones they layed afterwards, until it ended up in our ditch ;)

Also have some old registration plates from our old cars, including the one of our current car, a Renault Laguna station....

Well i love watching sundowns, lightning (sound strange, cuz in the early years i was really scared of thunderstorms and lightning but my uncle helped me to get over it) nice night skies with awesome colours especially with clouds, freaks of nature (not tornado's or Hurricanes, more likely the rainbows and the mysterious ones) Dutch skies ,as painted by famous dutch painters, like Van Ruysdael (sp?), Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Dutch skies (Hollandse Luchten in Dutch) are famous in Holland Already in the Golden Century the Dutch skies had been a very pleased painter subject. That is to see in many museums around the world.

They are a phenomenon which appears especially in the spring and autumn months, when there are coming showers above land from over the Northsea, when the Northsea is still warm and the showers are cold, showers with hail, wet snow rain etc, the sun shines so bright on the clouds that the clouds look scary, beautiful sight

I have to say that i am lucky enough to live in such a rural area, no trouble of buildings, stinking cars etc. i can go outside my village to shoot some pics whenever i want :), or look from outside my window....

The light in Holland can be truly remarkable.

This is a picture I took from my apartment last year's fall, a few moments before sunset.

I live in the not so rural western part of Holland (called Randstad). On the left you can see the control tower of Schiphol Airport, on the right some high-rising buildings in Amsterdam.

Here's the 2nd post

Have you heard about the Thunderstorms that produced a tornado above London which made alot of damage there?, caused by a a squall (not sure) of showers...
Well the same squall of showers came over Holland later that day/end of afternoon when it got dark...
The mysterious part was that after the squall there were bright intervals in which the sundown appeared, it made such a spectecular and strange delight of colours and clouds that children even got scared... It appeared last Thursday December 7th...

Here are my pics of those, although it differ(red? sp?) from the west of Holland:

Nice pic...

Well we had some snow last year, and the year before that we had 30 cms of snow (other places up to 50 cm) at the end of March when it should get warm again.... The North had the biggest amount of snow that year (2004)
But in comparison to the snowstorm and biggest snowfall we had in 1979 (i wasn't even born back then) with ppl who got stuck in their houses becuz of the snowfall, even cars got jammed in the snow and lots of snowdunes too, was a tricky situation i heard from my parents....
it's not so much, but it was fun to walk in the park and to walk till your knees in the snow

I just long to a strong winter with lots of snow and ice.

This hot weather is just freaking me out a little... But this year has been one of the extreme years in 300 years if you ask me.....
Really hot temps in the summer, severe showers in August and September with flash flooding everyday, and extreme hot temps for the months of October and November (with November breaking twice the record of the warmest day in the age 17,3 and 18.9 ag. 16,6 which was the record since the start of the measurements....
And now this week with the wind that had some bursts till 104 kph, and big thunderstorms with lots of lightning and thunder...
Like i said i think the year 2006 will go in the books as one of the most extreme years of the last 300 years for the Netherlands....

How i long and eager to some cold weather, i absolutely had it with this kind of weather, the last week was special with much rain and wind (storms and stuff like that) for a week....
But its all coming from the south-southwestern air which comes from Spain and France where its still warm....

I am hoping on a white christmas (we had some snow on boxing day last year) but most times we have a green one... but i dunno if we'll see snow this year, i really really doubt it....

Been i think 10 years since we've had a serious winter with much snow and ice, the last elfstedentocht (Frisian tradition) was held that year too (1997)

Yes, its very nice, here in the North you haven't got such fields, more in the west where Rick lives... Isn't it called the Westland where all the kassen (dunno the english word) are Rick?

Good to know there's been posting in here again, will try to post my promised pics from snow from feb and some google earth pics of the neighbourhood where i live....

Maybees i can take some pics of outside my village, to give ya guys an impression of how rural its here... or i will try to find some pics on the net from around my village and its neighbourhoods etc.

Or just type on google etc. Zuidhorn, i am sure you'll find some pics of my village and around....

The area with all the greenhouses is called the Westland, but that is not where I live. I live in the area called "de Bollenstreek", roughly the area in the northern part of the province Zuid-Holland between Sassenheim (where I live), Hillegom and the North Sea Coast.

Yeah sorry forgot that i meant the Bollenstreek...

Well i already said that i live in Zuidhorn, which lies in Groningen, 15 km west of Groningen, a nice city and the place where i was born, i come there alot obviously, very pretty city with the Olle Grieze... Live not far from the Waddensea and Lauwersoog (where i and my fam sometimes swim and walk) it lies about 25-30 km from here, so 1/2 hour by car and you are there, in the nicest part of the province, with the Lauwersmeer which is a national park and nature reserve, where famous birds and animals live...
You also can get from there to the waddenisland of Schiermonnikoog, which is one of the 5 waddenislands along with Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland, Schiermonnikoog (TV Tas :p  remember that ezelsbruggetje, to remind the islands?) the waddensea along with its islands is a great area to go to, such beautiful places...
A must for everyone who wants to visit Holland....

well my village lies not far from the more bigger villages/town as Leek, Roden, Winsum and Buitenpost. It also has a trainstation on the trainline Leeuwarden-Groningen....

I must say that i am glad that i live here in one of hollands lesser populated areas/provinces.
I feel at home when driving on the motorway between Groningen and Zuidhorn, you can look very far, much farms you can see, nature, animals etc.
Just happy that i can look so far out over the fields, same counts for my bedroomwindow, which is on the attic, i can look for a great part over my village and i can see our ecologic park (John Smithpark)

I think a look to my saved Google earth pics which i have to make gives you a good sight of my village and so on..

I don't think you guys know, except for Rick, but the flag in my avatar is the province flag of my province Groningen.

Okay, since it's been so long . . .

Here's a pic of me in Vegas with a player who's nearly as awesome as Elena . . .

. . . and where my brother and I stayed.

Also, I spotted a woman in the casino who could have passed for either Elena's big sister or Mommy Vera's little sister, but as I was in a mojito-induced stupor she managed to escape before I got very far "chatting her up" as the Capt might say.

Which may have been a good thing. (Although the problem with a gay brother is that he's useless as a wingman. Of course, he may say the same thing about me. Then again, he's practically married so he'd better not need a wingman.)

Hmmm. This post is reading like I'm still on mojitos.

But hell, who cares :p

So lets look at photos:

1st part is a view from room (more less on south ;))

I hope you don’t mind if I say so, but to me it looks typical East-European (Polish), barracks-style architecture. I’ve been many times in Poland (woj. Katowice), and you can’t tell one neighborhood from another. All the same small, gray, apartment-blocks. And, especially down south, everything was heavily polluted.

Well agree with you. But only old buildings
New districts look much more happier :) more colourful :D
and many old blocks of flats are repainting (as you could see on one picture)

Its pretty I love the place where I'll be living soon
I love the block of flats because you can hear everything even when most of the times you are sick of hearing....its great to hear when a mom yells to her son/daugther and they cry:lol:  .
I like that.......or there is always an apparment full of single ugly ladies(some pretty gilr too) singing songs all the time while they are wahing thier clothes or cleaning the place:lol:  .
When I move out fom Shagún to Pachuca (like 4 years ago) I lived in a block of flats for 6 months .

ok guys
tomorrow I will visit Malbork Castle. It's the biggest castle made of brick in the world. it was used by Teutonic order.

When I will be back I will post some photos :D

Paco
Sep 1st, 2007, 10:08 PM
so today I was in Malbork. We took so many photos. It was hard choice which of them I will post here.

But before I'll show it to you I will tell something about Castle and Teutonic order:

Teutonic Order (officially called "Order of the German House of St. Mary in Jerusalem", in latin: Ordo domus Sanctæ Mariæ Theutonicorum Ierosolimitanorum) it's Geraman origin order formed in Palestine during crusaders in 12th century.
So as we know who they were lets learn about how they appeared in Malbork (which was called Marienburg during times where Order ruled there).
Konrad I of Masovia, 6th Duke of Masovia, had difficulties with pagan Prussians. He tried to conquer them but couldn't managed that. in year 1220 he founded Order of Dobrin but failed once again. Prussians made counter-raids. It caused that in year 1226 Konrad ask Teutonic Order to fight with Prussians. They took invitation and defeat Prussia. But they were enough strong to take this land for themsevles. Nice isn't it?
Malbork Castle was started to built in 1274-1280. in year 1309 Teutonic Order decide to have this castle as a capital city. So the Grandmaster of Order lived there. During the 13th years War(1454-1466) castle was sold to Polish king Casimir IV Jagiellon. Since year 1466 to year 1772 (1st Partition of Poland) it was one of the Polish royal residences.
During the Warld War II it was broken. But successfully it's rebuilding.

Well it's the biggest castle made of brick in the world. It has three separate sections: the High, Middle and Low Castles. They are separated with moats and towers and so one.
Hight castle was for most important people, middle castle for less important people and the low was for servants :p
Anyway in year 1997 it was added to UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.

Well hopefully you didn't get bored with all that
but for patient you can see the photos now ;)

well I just have feeling I should learn you more about Poland :p (well I had this feeling long time ago but couldn't decide to move my ass from my place :p)

But today I went to Westerplatte and took some photos. But 1stly I'll tell a history of the place as it's very important place for us Poles :)
Westerplatte is a peninsula in Gdańsk and a a place of battlefield.
Here on 1st September 1939 Germans began invasion on Poland. German battleship Schleswig-Holstein started to fire Polish garrison. During 7 days we were attacked by naval and heavy field artillery. Germans used also dive-bombers Junkers Ju 87. On September 7th major Henryk Sucharski (he was a commanding officer) decided to surrender because we do not have many shells (to defend) and bandages (to help injured) left

so here are photos:

monument:

Good to see those pictures of the war memorial, Paco. I almost forgot that the Second World War started with the shelling of Gdańsk.
I've been to Poland countless times and every time I got remembered how much the Polish people had suffered during this war. Even my (ex) in-laws had their share of Nazi-brutality and it took my wife a lot of persuasion to convince her grandmother I wasn't German.
During one of my stays I visited Oświęcim, and I must say it is still one of the most impressive moments of my life. It was almost like you could really feel the atrocities being committed there.

but now when main streets in Gdańsk are repairing, public transport (specially trams) is so much better.
There are so many traffic jams. And you sit in tram and go trough city :) and you can do, to people in cars standing in traffic, :nerner:

Hey guys and girls!

I went to the UK to visit a friend a couple of weeks ago, you know who, the only dude from the UK we see around here lately, namely our good (figuratively) old (figuratively?) Captain! :D :p

I stayed in London and visited the Natural History Museum on my first day. Below are pics.

Oh Captain, I DID run into the blue whale apparently, must have mistaken it for another species of whale when you asked me, I dunno  ( Sometimes my brain short circuits  )

Right then, pics of the first day:

That was day one, went to see some the area around Victoria station and walked a bit by the Thames after dinner, but didn't take pics of that.
Next up: day 2, the day I met up with the Captain after some amount of railway misery! :D

Righty then, day 2. After finally making it to Worchester in Worchestershire (try getting that one right ten times in a row) the Captain picked me up in his Ford Transit (we had originally planned to rob a bank, but decided not to in the end) and took me to see the farm, then the city of Hereford and last but not least: to his shop in Leominster, aka The Bridge!

I honestly think there wasn't a moment of silence between me being picked up around noon and getting back on the train in the evening.
Talked about so many things it would take me a full day to write it all down here. And YES, we did have a chat about our fellow members as well

Righty then, here are the pics!

Day two, at Mommy Dementinator's farm

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07032.jpg

Guess who???
(Now let's hope he doesn't sue me)

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07034.jpg

Just the Rover this time, the Captain's sweetheart

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07035.jpg

Landscape over the hill out back of the farm, forgot the name of the town

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07036.jpg

This goes to the right of last pic

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07037.jpg

Yours truely about to tumble down the hill

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07038.jpg

More scenery

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07040.jpg

Guess what, the Captain breeds mutant horses!!!

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07041.jpg

Me in the Captain's Rover. I wonder if he noticed I broke it already :p

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07043.jpg

I have to say Mommy Dementinator has some good taste too
Perhaps the Captain can tell us what car it is, as I forgot

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07044.jpg
The grill :p

Day 2, at the Bridge (took no pics in Hereford)

More decoration

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07050.jpg

Myself turned absolutely useless

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c17/Alenyaa/London07051.jpg

Not that I'm vain or anything, but I must admit I was a bit tired at the end :p
These are the controls of The Bridge, btw... ARE YOU SCARED YET????? Muahahahahahahah!

Well, after that the Captain buyed me dinner and then we went back to Worchester to catch my train.
The next day I returned to Belgium and the UK was finally safe again.

And next time I go to London there butter not be an ff'in Tube strike!!!

FYI: the Mylodon Listai lived in the Patagonian area (that's the most southern part of Argentina) about 10.000 years ago, although there are rumors that the species survived until 1500 AD, and even might still exist.

And if I were you, I wouldn't go to the pool area for some time. It is always a bad idea to make jokes about a lady's age, especially when she just had her birthday and started to realize she is pushing 30...:bolt:
