i'm my own person, i'm wierd i don't fall into any category, but i can tell you this.

i'm definately not normal, i'm definately not goody2shoes, I dress differently, my own style between preppy, punk, the black metal look, and even the synth pop and grundge look, I have some ghetto edge to me too(i live in NY)

my personality is really wierd and different from anything, I'm always happy for the most part, i love to party, have fun, i'm funny, spontaneous, a leader and a fighter, i only get angry when provoked, when i get provoked, i try to stay away from fighting-life is too short(i used to fight all the time in middle school) i listen to diffrent types of music mostly synth pop, dance, black metal, techno, etc.
I'm big into romance and love, i'm big into acting and cinema, i love music.

I'm too wierd to explain i'm probably a combonation off:

Flea(from red hott chilli peppers)-i'm outrageous/ i don't care/ if you see a guy mooning you in NY it might as well be me.

Tom Cruise(i'm like tom in the way, i have always been into action, extreme sports, and extreme life, my style is sort of like his, the one thing we really have in common is the passion for acting.

Mel Gibson(I'm like him in the way that i'm funny and spontaneous and outgoing when i don't even try to be, like i will say something serious, but it will be something really funny and i won't notice i said it.

LL Cool J- I act as crazy as him some times, i share the same passion for women that he does.

blink 182 -i'm just as stupid and crazy, i just wanna have fun, and live life to the fulliest

Johnny Depp- sometimes when i'm serious, i find myself being really romantic, and going really deep into conversations, thats my johnny depp side the intellectual side, i love johnny he is a great example for me, my friends seem to think i look like him alot.

madonna- i'm really really determined sometimes, and i can indentify with madge, in the late 70's and erly 80's she had hr own style just like i have my own style now.

Preppy to the bone....I doubt anyone on the Board even comes close!! (Try to find something in my wardrobe thats under $50 thats not from Abercrombie! HA! Everything I own is from there!)

YOU CANT BE A PREP AND A PUNK!! if you are, youre freakin fake! dont be a poser...that is so lame
you are tainting real punk. blink is not punk, sum41 is not punk, theyre sell outs, they suck, wearing metal and studs and black doesnt make you punk it makes you look dumb. just stop it!!!! you people make me so freakin angyr, lame lame lame lame
ill give you one guess what i am

Dec 11th, 2001, 03:23 AM
NejedlyKanepi,
i didn't say i'm a prep, i said i dress a little bit like a prep, you can dress like a prep and still act different because clothes don't ditermine all of the person.

I'm definately a hardcore metal and synth pop fan, i like punk too, not as much.

no blink might not play real punk but they sure act like punks, and thats why i like them, they are outrageous and unpredictable, and i'm sort of like that.

if you are talking about real punk you must mean

the sex pistols
the ramones
social distortion
dead kennedys
misfits

but blink 182, might never be considered punk by there music, but by their attitude they are definately big as* punks.

Dec 11th, 2001, 03:26 AM
metal is a lot different then punk, in my opinion metal is alot better, but everyone has there opinion.

I don't know what I am. I guess I'm a non-conformist. I can be a little bit of everything. I'm a pretty shy but insane person I guess. Just unique.

Dec 11th, 2001, 04:33 PM
I'm sad to say that I am very goody2shoes. That probably explains why I became a teacher to begin with. I'm also very romantic and very shy.

bulgar, while my comment was not really directed at you specifically, it is directed to the new punk trend, where people try to be one when theyre not

Nej: curious comment... If someone choses to listen to a certain type of music because they like it, and dress a certain way because they feel good that way - then who is really posing - them, or the people who insist that you have to conform to a certain form in order to NOT be a poser? Who's the fake - the person just being themsevles, or the people who are trying really hard to conform to a certain group?

Anyhow, to answer the original question, I'm just your stereotypical student I guess. I'm neither a good two shoes, nor a major bad ass. I speak my mind when I feel the need, but don't go out of my way to stir up trouble.

I dress in whatever I happen to find that is clean that day - anywhere from preppy, to trendy, to casual, to "what-the-hell-is-she-wearing".

I don't have a clue how you can describe a punk, a prep, a goody2shoes... what the hell is this all???

Dec 12th, 2001, 07:43 AM
Brava Becca!

But that's something you have to learn, I guess -- to like what you like because you feel like it, not to please another person or to fit into a group. That's being a poseur, plain and simple.

When I was 16, I top felt like Nej, and I don't begrudge him for it either.

As for me...I'm a drunk.

the poser would be the person who CLAIMS to be punk (or rather dressing a certain way), and knowingly knows they are not and never will be. the attempt to take on that persona, not just the style, or degrading the original and taking it over, that is the real loser of the two "people" you have described. the poser/loser is also the person who does it to try to be cool, not because they like it. a large majority of posers are trying to be that way to be accepted, not because they feel like it. or will you refute this as well?

i cant name one person who randomly dresses themselves in the fashion you have described. but perhaps im wrong.

Nej: relax...I wasn't picking you apart, I was simply trying to understand where you were coming from. i found your previous comments rather harsh - as opposed to toasting you for them, since I'm not the board police , I thought I'd try to get what you were saying instead.

I still don't really get it. Perhaps cause where I live, there is less strain to conform to one type or another.

As for how my random fashion of dressing - its all true. I dress however I fell like. If you don't beleive that, thats fine with me
keep in mind you live in California, and I live in Canada - there may be some minor culture clash there.

Dec 13th, 2001, 07:58 AM
I think it has a lot to do with high school vs. the real world, as opposed to a culture clash.

Hurley: You may be right. Granted, I'm only a year out of highschool. But in the latter half of highschool I found people cared about those things less anyways, so perhaps I just forget

Also, I went to a school that had an integrated arts program, so we had all sorts of "types" or people there, and generally everyone was open minded about it.

Dec 13th, 2001, 08:19 PM
Becca: Sounds great! I actually went to a pretty decent high school myself; we had all the cliques but I happily got along with most everyone. I was a lucky one, I guess.

But I found that, five years removed, the desire to walk alike and talk alike and such has been replaced by the need to live a life, like finish school and get a job and move out. Perhaps I've been lucky with my friends too, but we don't all listen to the same music or dress alike or like the same films or have the same ideas...we clash and argue and try to force our opinions upon each other, but at the end of the night we all go to bed feeling exactly the same about each other as we have.

I think it was Aristotle who said "friends have all things in common." You don't need to be a certain way to have people love you. I found that out late, but I figured it out. I wish the same for everyone.

P.S. I have the same taste in clothing as Becca -- I have my band t-shirts and my nice sweaters and my ratty jeans and good formal pants and baseball cap, and what I wear is pretty much determined by what was in the laundry I just did, or, failing that, which article smells the best when coming off of the floor. Ahhh the good life!
