Last year Nicole did really well at this tournament, so I hope she can do well again.:yeah:

Because of several withdrawals, right now it looks like Nicole will be the 5th seed. :)

I think the draw is kinda tough, lots of dangerous players (Nadia, ALG, Na Li, etc) but some haven't been playing that well, so I don't know what to expect.

Is the US Open seeds/draw made after results from Montreal? It is important for Nicole to do well here then...

MONTREAL, Canada - Nicole Vaidisova faced tough tasks en route to the third round of the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank Tuesday night on the hardcourts of Uniprix Stadium.

In the final match of the day, Vaidisova notched her second Sony Ericsson WTA Tour victory over Safarova. The two faced each other earlier this year at Amelia Island and Safarova won 64 in the third. This time Vaidisova left her opponent no chance in the third set. She will next meet either Nicole Pratt or Marie-Čve Pelletier. After reaching her first career Tier I semifinal at San Diego, 17-year-old Vaidisova broke into the Top 10 for the first time and is only the 12th-youngest Tour player to do so.

Well this article says she is still gonna play singles:

Also, Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic pulled out of doubles with a sore right shoulder, but the fifth seed will play her third-round singles match on Thursday.

Vaidisova and Maureen Drake of Toronto were replaced in the doubles draw by Sharon Fichman of Toronto and Valerie Tetreault of St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Que. They were to face Petrova and tennis legend Martina Mavratilova later Wednesday.

So I guess it isn't too bad I don't know if she should be risking further injury with the Open coming up. Her shoulder problem is what kept her out of tournaments earlier this year...

Good Luck... if she play

Have you seen that :

"Martina Navratilova turns 50 on October 18 but she still knows how to hit a ball – and she proved it again yesterday afternoon. The defending Rogers Cup doubles champion, along with partner Nadia Petrova of Russia, easily eliminated the Canadian duo of Sharon Fichman and Valérie Tétreault 6-0, 6-1. The two Canucks replaced Maureen Drake and Nicole Vaidisova when the latter pulled out because of tendonitis. Navratilova and Petrova close out the evening session on Centre Court against Argentina’s Gisela Dulko and Corina Morariu of the U.S"

Vaidisova withdraws in Montreal

Fifth seed Nicole Vaidisova has withdrawn from the Rogers Cup in Montreal with tendonitis just before being due on court for her third round match with Nicole Pratt.

Vaidisova
Aug 17th, 2006, 08:09 PM
Vaidisova said she would rehab the injury and try to be ready for the U.S. Open in less than two weeks.

"I'm not injured, I'm just preventing it from getting injured," said Vaidisova. "It's too close to the U.S. Open to risk anything further.

"I've done this before and I've learned from my mistakes. I just really want to make sure nothing happens. I still have a long career ahead of me. I'm 17 and my health is my No. 1 priority."

Vaidisova latest seed to pull out of Montreal

Czech Nicole Vaidisova, the fifth seed, forfeited her third round match at the 1.34 million-dollar WTA hardcourt tournament complaining of a sore right shoulder.

Several minutes later, Serbia's Jelena Jankovic also forfeited her match against compatriot Ana Ivanovic.

"This morning I hit some balls and it still felt a little sore. The timing is bad with the US Open coming up," said Vaidisova, who withdrew hours before the scheduled start of the match rather than risk a serious injury before the last Grand Slam of the season.

Her withdrawal means Australian Nicole Pratt reached the quarter-finals by walkover.

Vaidisova, who was bothered earlier this season by tendinitis in the shoulder, had already withdrawn from doubles here.

What a pity !

"I'm not injured, I'm just preventing it from getting injured"
(tendonitis in her right shoulder, like before Indian Wells n Miami)

So she's not really injured (good for US Open :) ) .
In that case, her voluntary decision to withdraw for safety had to be very very hard and sad  to take because after Clijsters' withdrawal*, Nicole was fully aware that this time, she had really the opportunity of reaching the final and maybe winning her first Tier I (300 pts WTA, as many as a Grand Slam semi-final, but with less media coverage)

But the voice of reason has spoken: :worship: " I'm 17 and my health is my No. 1 priority " (Vaidisova) :worship:

*(poor Kim  , we will miss her at "her" US Open)
Hey,Salut :wavey: C'est la premičre fois que je te vois poster ici.C'est cool,un nouveau fan français,j'ai remarqué que Nicole avait plein de fans Français. :) Tu soutiens Nicole depuis Rg 2006?

------------
Second round (Tuesday 15th August)
------------

+ NICOLE VAIDIŠOVÁ [5] d. Lucie Šafárová, 3-6 7-5 6-1

I've never seen Lucie play, but I've read great things about her. She's quite an attractive girl, with fascinating eyes. Her face used to be a little too thick for my liking, but a recent weight-loss seems to have changed that, at the expense of making her arms too thin.

Nicole beat Lucie 4-6 6-0 6-4 in the first round of the French Open 2005, but it should be noted that Lucie has never ever won a first-round match in the main draw (singles) of any Grand Slam, which is incredible for someone with three WTA singles-titles to her name.

But Lucie beat Nicole 6-1 4-6 6-4 at Amelia Island 2006, so this was a good match for Nicole to get through.

The match lasted 2h01m.

-----------
Third round (Thursday 17th August)
-----------

- NICOLE VAIDIŠOVÁ [5] lt. Nicole Pratt [Q], walkover (right-shoulder tendonitis)

Nicole Vaidišová: "This morning I hit some balls, and it still felt a little sore. The timing is bad with the US Open coming up.

"I'm not injured, I'm just preventing it from getting injured. It's too close to the US Open to risk anything further.

"I've done this before, and I've learned from my mistakes. I just really want to make sure nothing happens. I still have a long career ahead of me. I'm 17 and my health is my number-one priority."

I'm very disappointed that this has happened, not just because the US Open is less than two weeks away, but also because I thought our Nicole had a golden opportunity of winning this tournament. It's a Tier I, but a spate of big-name withdrawals has left it almost as weak as a Tier III.

Had our Nicole not had this problem, I have no doubt whatsoever that she would have beaten Nicole Pratt, and since she had already beaten Dinara Safina as a 15-year-old at Hobart 2005, why not now?

Ana Ivanovic would have been the biggest threat to Nicole in the semi-finals, but although Ana won their only meeting [Miami 2005, when she made Nicole cry], I've been much more impressed by Nicole's progress than by Ana's this year.

And Nicole's nemesis Svetlana Kuznetsova is safely tucked away in the bottom half of the draw. With the quarter-final line-up being as it is, I would now love to see Anna Chakvetadze go all the way.

Nicole had a wild card into the main draw with Maureen Drake, but Nicole withdrew on Wednesday with right-shoulder tendonitis - the day before she scratched from the singles.
