Exciting news :worship:

I assume anyone that is clicking through to read this article has seen Twin Peaks. If not, you should watch it, because it's one of the craziest, most awesome TV series that has ever been made! I just found out that Twin Peaks creator and director David Lynch is going to shoot some new footage for it!

In the finale episode of the series, Laura Palmer tells Special Agent Dale Cooper that she will see him again in 25 years. The series was set in 1989 although it aired in 1990 and 1991. So from the time the series takes place to 2014 makes it exactly 25 years.

There's no word on what Lynch plans on shooting, but he's definitely shooting something Twin Peaks related. A casting call has gone out, and this is what it says,

TWIN PEAKS PROMO. Directed by David Lynch. Shoots in Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Prob a 6 hour or less day. Rate is 150/8. You must live in LA to submit. I don’t think SAG has jurisdiction on this, so SAG and NON can submit. I have called SAG to double check this and I am awaiting a call back to confirm.
HOT Caucasian girl – BRUNETTE OR REDHEADS ONLY to play waitress. Age 18-27. MUST have an amazing body. Busty, very period looking face. Please submit two current color photos (one body shot, one face shot), your sizes, union status and contact info to: SandeAlessiCasting@gmail.com.
I imagine this is just going to be something for the upcoming Blu-ray release, but it's still cool, especially if you're a fan of the series.

I think it's time. Almost 25 years.

Jan 8th, 2014, 09:30 AM
i don't understand "very period face"

my face is sometimes terrible on period

Jan 8th, 2014, 10:32 AM
Is this true?

Are they going to get Kyle McLachlan back? And whoever played Audrey? :hearts:

I wonder if Lynch is going to put together a movie that ties everything together, or start up the television series again…

(Part of me thinks this will turn out to be a hoax, but I can dream right?)

Jan 8th, 2014, 10:39 AM
It's not official yet. Mark Frost still doesn't want to confirm, he says it's only a baseless rumor. But it has to be true.

Jan 8th, 2014, 11:58 AM
I just finished watching season 2 for the first time. I think the story got away from him and descended into farce, until there was virtually no plot at all. I wanted it to be about a town of freaky people, but still somewhat believable.

Thats what I dont like about his style. You cant tell if he is trying to say something profound or if he just ran out of ideas and what you are watching is some visually sumptuous BS.

You can't say he's a troll, but you have a point. He's different and weird, that's what I personally like about Lynch's movies. I think you are right though about running out of ideas considering the finale of Twin Peaks, that's why the series needs a proper ending.

Jan 9th, 2014, 09:02 AM
Twin Peaks was great. I know a lot of people lost interest in the show as it progressed with a view that it just got too weird. For me personally, I like things that are bonkers. Bonkers is good. And yeah, Twin Peaks never lost me. It was the only TV show in the last 30 years that really mattered to me on a weekly basis. And when it was canceled I was gutted. The fact that Twin Peaks got more bonkers as it went along just made it better as far as I was concerned.

Having the show end with Cooper possessed by Bob was very unsatisfactory to put it mildly. Any attempt to follow up the abruptly ended storyline would be much appreciated by me. One thing though...they damn well better get Kyle McLachlan back. He was amazing and the show wouldn't have worked without his inspired portrayal of Agent Cooper. And no revamp of the show would work without McLachlan either.

Jan 9th, 2014, 11:20 AM
funny that i had the impulse to rewatch the whole of "twin peaks" a couple of weeks ago. a fantastic show indeed.

In fact, 90% of the images from Twin Peaks scare the hell out of me, but that doesn’t stop it from being a damn fine show, one of the best ever seen on television.
It’s impact on the face of US Television cannot be understated, and its legion of fans, burned all those years ago at being denied a third season are still clamouring for more Peaks – not least the famous deleted scenes from the 1992 prequel film Fire Walk with Me which are still under lock and key somewhere.
There were rumours floating around the internet this week that David Lynch was planning something Twin Peaks-releated for this year, it being the twenty five years since Laura promised she’d see Agent Dale Cooper (stuck in the Black Lodge) again. The rumours went all the way from a full third season (highly, highly unlikely), or those deleted scenes which will finally get an airing, to a promo in the vein of the Log Lady’s episode introductions recording for the Bravo airings of the show.

Now Fangoria, (http://www.fangoria.com/new/excl-ray-wise-confirms-twin-peaks-lynch-directed-blu-ray-promo/)in an interview with Ray Wise for Big Ass Spider can reveal what was going on,
Yeah, we [shot the promo for the Blu-ray] two days ago…It’s been done. I don’t know if I was supposed to leak that to anybody, but yeah, we did it and I’m not at liberty to say what was done. I can say that it’s going to be a big surprise.
So, it is more Lynch-directed Twin Peaks, exactly what it is we’ll find out soon. It’ll be interesting to see who else from the cast he has managed to bring back – certainly none of them have done anything as iconic as the 1990s series.

Confession: I didn't really get Twin Peaks. I watched most of the first season and then sort of gave up. Not for me. This is rare, seeing as I usually love the crap out of highly rated TV shows. Oh well.

Important question: in 2006, did people really sit around and wait for DVDs to find out what had happened on a show which aired years previously? Were spoilers and torrents not happening back then?

Jan 11th, 2014, 10:02 PM
Excited :cheer:

I wonder what it will be? I'd love a third season but I doubt that will happen. A full-length movie concluding the series might be the best option to hope for?

Or do a 90210/Melrose Place-type reboot with new main characters and some original characters returned for a few episodes? ;)

If they decide to go with this, it better be on a cable channel. This type of the show suits on cable channels.

Same here.

It doesn't need one

How would they replace the perfect cast?

They'd probably have someone like Annalyne McCord playing Audrey :o

I'm going to go dig out my boxset now...

Mateo Mathieu

That's not what I meant.

They still can revival Twin Peaks with new main characters in present time with some original characters that are still alive and live in the town. The original characters only can be play by original cast.

Jan 12th, 2014, 01:19 PM
How would they replace the perfect cast?

They don't want to replace the cast. It was specified in the story, 25 years later. Plus, she show needs the revival. It needs a proper ending and this is the only way to do it.

Twin Peaks will return, fulfilling Laura Palmer's 25-year prophecy

In one of the final scenes of the iconic 1990s television drama Twin Peaks, the murdered American schoolgirl Laura Palmer said: "I will see you again in 25 years."

In one of those deals that only Hollywood could do, she is poised to make good on that promise.

Twin Peaks, which aired for only two seasons in 1990 and 1991, is returning as a "limited series" for the US cable channel Showtime.

The channel has commissioned nine one-hour episodes of a new series, picking up events in the present day, more than two decades after the events of the original series.

Twin Peaks, created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, was a surreal crime thriller set in a small, picturesque American town, ripped apart when the community's much-loved girl next door Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) was found dead, wrapped in plastic, on a riverbank.

It was an instant success, driven by a global marketing campaign which asked the question: Who killed Laura Palmer?

The series also starred Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, the coffee-loving investigator who is tasked with finding Laura Palmer's killer, Michael Ontkean as the town's sheriff, Harry S. Truman, and Peggy Lipton, as Norma Jennings, the owner of the Double-R Diner.

Fans of the series were teased over the weekend by simultaneous tweets from Lynch and Frost, referencing two famous quotes from the show.

"That gum you like is going to come back in style," they both tweeted, accompanied by the hashtag "#damngoodcoffee".

The internet went into overdrive, speculating that either the series might return or the pair was collaborating on a Twin Peaks-related project.

A trailer was unveiled featuring a glimpse of schoolgirl Laura Palmer, the words "25 Years Later" and then "2016".

It was accompanied by a short statement from Showtime.

"The groundbreaking television phenomenon, Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winner Twin Peaks will return as a new limited series on Showtime in 2016," the statement said.

"Series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost will write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series, and Lynch will direct every episode.

"Set in the present day, Twin Peaks will continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series' passionate fan base."

The new series will be filmed in 2015 for a premiere in 2016, which would be timed for 25 years after the original series finished its run on US television.

Showtime has not announced any cast, but the general consensus is that the series could not proceed without several of its iconic characters, including FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan).

There will also be enormous fan interest in which of the show's iconic bit players return, from the Log Lady, Cooper's unseen assistant "Diane" (to whom he tape-recorded notes), the dwarf that Cooper saw in a series of visions, the mysterious Giant who appeared to Cooper regularly and offered clues and the sinister "Bob".

Frank Silva, who played the sinister spirit Bob in the series, died in 1995.

The original series aired only for two seasons, struggling in its second to re-ignite audience interest after Lynch was pressured by the US network ABC to reveal Palmer's killer.

It was eventually cancelled.

It was followed in 1992 by the prequel film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.

I loved so much this film, I remember having a strong crush, as a child, on Lara Flynn Boyle (she was simply gorgeous as Donna) and Mädchen Amick (Shelley) - I thought they were the most beautiful women in the series along with Sherilynn Fenn.

I hope they rejoin the old cast

TV used to be the poor relation of the movies, I think a show like Twin Peaks was key in the transition that made TV more credible.

Just a really cool show, ahead of its time.

The movie was done this way supposedly to take you inside the mind of Laura Palmer. The show on the other hand is about the world around her. We have no idea what they're going to do now.

Article about some of the actors/actresses and whether they're likely to return. Looks like Agent Cooper and Harry are basically confirmed; and a lot of the old cast have publicly stated they'd like to return.

Log Lady looks very likely too if the reported comment is true :cheer:

New 'Twin Peaks' book to fill in the 25-year gap

Last week, Showtime and "Twin Peaks" co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost announced that after 25 long years off the air, "Twin Peaks" will make a comeback in 2016. Since then, we've learned that the new series will be set in the modern day, leaving a quarter-century gap between us and events our favorite characters have experienced.

Mark Frost is at work on a novel that will help fill in this gap. Frost has partnered with publishing house Flatiron books on "The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks," which will debut sometime in late 2015. "The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks" will reveal what's happened to your favorite "Twin Peaks" characters since we last saw them in 1991, and will give a more in-depth look at the events surrounding the death of Laura Palmer.

"This has long been a dream project of mine that will bring a whole other aspect of the world of Twin Peaks to life, for old fans and new," Frost said in a statement. "I couldn't be more thrilled."

Maybe that gum we liked is coming back in style, after all.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Started to watch this again, from the start, about 2 months ago. Once a decade... So this is third time. Every episode was pure magic. Until revelation of murderer (that was actually revealed about 6 episodes back...) 10/10 to that point.

Some of these season 2 episodes are horribad. I go  many times per episode. Read that David Lynch had nothing to with those episodes. Network wanted to cash in and continued without him. Turning mystery into teendrama :banghead: Have not finished my ordeal of season 2 yet. Some say ending is great. Probably not, as I don´t remeber it :) Remembered very much until the revelation. None after that...

Season 1 - Greatest telly ever
Season 2 - Cashing in
--- 25 years later ---
Season 3 - Greatest telly ever - Part 2 :)

So excited! One of the main ways to please fans: coop and audrey together. Another way: No James. Such a lame character and by far the weakest actor of the bunch too.

Do these things and they will already have all of us on board :)

Oct 25th, 2014, 01:16 AM
Audrey and Cooper needs to happen.

Heather Graham should be killed off very quickly from the show :cheer:

Oct 25th, 2014, 08:49 PM
Oh wow! How did I not remember that end! 10 episodes of boredom ending like that!

- It is Twin Peaks

- Everyone has "secret" relationship :help:

Must haves for Season 3

- Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Dale Cooper)
- Heather Graham (Annie Blackburn)
- Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer)

Impossible to continue storyline without those.

Hmmm. "Twin Peaks" Imdb Search "Laura Palmer" Zero results.... Good luck trying to hide that :wavey:

Returning cast that I´d like to see again

- David Duchovny as transvestite FBI agent (no, not really...)
- All of season 1 hotties. Lara Flynn Boyle, Sherilyn Fenn, Mädschen Amick (Before you can say xxx died. I say dream sequence!)
- Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Harry Truman. They probably replase him with someone more better coloured... :help:

Btw. There were ZERO blacks in original Twin Peaks. Just noting... In new there will be at least half dozen. I call them replacement blacks. Ie. Andy will probably be replaced by someone called Yabba. If that is the case then Lucy will still be white... Wait what... Isn´t that too obvious? Nope
