You usually have to be a good ball striker to get to the top. ;)

Jelena Dokic is not really a top player, atm. :o A few of them aren't on that list.

I'm not so sure about everyone, but Lindsay Davenport is by far the cleanest ball striker on tour now, and may very well be of all time too.

Mary Pierce is very clean as well when she is at her best. Same with Serena. Maria is very consistant on her shots too.

Someone who has a crisp sound when they hit the ball usually. :hearts:

Dementieva is also a good ball striker.

Peng and Kirilenko are good ball strikers at times as well. :angel:

Outside the people who have already been mentioned, id add Kveta Peschke whos prob the flatest hitter on the tour

what makes a good ball striker?

A good ball striker is a player who has a broad strike zone.
Their groundstrokes are not any weaker even when they have to hit from above the shoulders to just around waist to knee level.
A superior shoulder strength is important as well as a strong back.
Movement isn't as important. Hitting a clean ball on the stretch is a good accessment as well but not as important.
A nice wingspan is helpful there as well.

You can be a clean hitter of the ball and still do those things.
Justine would be on my list but she has issues with hitting spins above her shoulder on her backhand.
Mauresmo has issues with flat shots below around the knee area.
Nadia has the same issue with her forehand.

In my opinion they are all veterans.

Jeniffer Capriati (all her strokes have a classic look to them, especially that backhand) though she's practically retired.

hitting a "clean" ball is such bs :yawn: all the girls hit it as hard and consistent as the next, just with varying amounts of topsin. this isnt the retard league with mis-hits and shanked ground strokes. when most people say "clean" i think they mean to say "flat"
