Third set breadstick . It's great to see that Martina didn't get discouraged after losing the second set. First serve percentage is a little low, but she was picking it up @ the end. And she has a decent winning percentage on her second serve. Her serve will be key for her next match. Good luck against Kim! :scared:

 Flavia, but she's in good form it seems lately.

Good job! But what happened in the second set? Lost 5 games in a row in like 10 minutes?

Anyway good luck against Kim :)

I got up at at 4 am to follow live scores and fortunately she won, after that second set's choking.
I hope Kim is tired a bit after Jankovic and Martina could be 3 time lucky this time.
Come on Martina!

I can't see her having much of a chance against Kim.

I saw her play Clijsters at the French and Kim is just too powerful for her.

Clijsters vs. Hingis next. Kim doesn't look to be in her best form, so it should be an interesting match. It is nice to see two top players playing three times in one year. This is what the Tour is missing.

Hingis was not 100% at Roland Garros, at least on that particular day. Kim is indeed very powerful but i trust in Martina´s abilities, she has beaten some power players this year already, so i think she is capable of doing it.
I hope the winner does it in three sets.

That was a terrible match from Martina, don't know why but she wan't there at all that day, whatever the outcome tomorrow, I expect more from Martina than her ghostly performance in Paris!

Good try from Flavia. Too bad she didn't put up much of a fight in the third set. Had only won 4 points before holding for 1-5.

That 2nd set was just bizarre from Hingis, it reminded me of the middle set at IW against Davenport thi year, she just went away for a bit...still very happy for Hingis. Go Martina!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

This should worry most Martina fans. If you saw the match on TV, Pennetta was overpowering her, and she got flustered and made errors. All it took was one good backhand. I don't know...I'm worried. She could just beat Kim and prove me wrong too:lol: ;) .

Well, Pennetta does have a good amount of power, though not as consistent as Kimmie with it...I am definitely concerned, Kim is one of the 3 hardest players on tour for Marti to beat this season, along with Ame and Justine, but still she has a good chance!

What the hell happened to your serve Martina? You never had a big serve but your percentage was always decent. Anybody know if Martina is serving bigger?

She was serving really well tonight. Her first serve is more powerful, and her second serve was kicking like no other...honestly Pennetta wasn't attacking that. It was up at her neck:eek: .

Penetta beat Hingis the last time they played on hard courts, plus you seem to forget the tough three set battle that Flavia gave Sharapova on her adored grass of Wimbledon not too long ago, Penetta can play and knows how to win matches, she is 18 at the moment in the rankings just 5 places below Martina, so the tough match is more than understandable.

Yeah, but it was quite long time ago and since then Kim's become a power-player.She makes not many unforced errors and is extraordinary fit and fast.

But there must be a way to beat her again.Think it over Martina!

Kim has always been an agressive power player. Sure she does not muscle the ball the way Serena does but she tries to dictate play. Is not like she was a moonballer back in 2001-2002.
I think it will depend a lot in how both are in the day. If Hingis tries to hit power shots against Kim she will lose easily, but if she mixes up play and plays smart tennis with some agressive stuff when needed, the match will be close.

Just to add a bit more of the same that has been said about the why to this question, Clijsters was a lot more erratic back then than she is today. Besides she's a much better match player and learned how to construct points.
