Another bad matchup for the higher ranked player.
They both move well but Ashley has more margin of error on her shot.
It paid off today. If she can be aggressive against Dementieva and not lose serve early in the sets, then she has a nice chance to beat Dementieva.

I agree, I love Elena too but if Ash can keep it in the court, serve better than Dementieva, and pick her oppurtunities to go for it, she has a great chance...may the better player on the day win!

Big opportunity for Harkleroad. Of course the outcome rests firmly on the way Elena plays but considering it's her first match on hard for quite a while it wouldn't be a shock for her to put in a poor peformance.

That's a great win. She needs some confidence boosting wins as her ranking is set to fall out of top 100 this week. I think she'll get smoked by Elena, but at least she got a win under her belt.
