La seconda semifinale dell'International Country Club 2007, l'incontro tra l'italiana Sara Errani e la slovacca Dominika Cibulkova finisce ancora prima di iniziare: purtroppo la testa di serie numero 2 accusa dei grossi problemi alla schiena e quindi scende in campo solo per onor di firma. I pochi scambi che le due tenniste offrono dimostrano quello che poteva essere, vale a dire un incontro altamente spettacolare e ricco di giocate di alta classe, ma così non è stato. La Cibulkova praticamente non riesce a servire anche se conquista i 2 game con la Errani alla battuta, poi sul 2-2 stringe la mano all'avversaria e saluta il pubblico che capisce il suo momento di difficoltà e la applaude calorosamente, anche se rimane il rammarico per il match non concluso. Domani Sara Errani affronterà alle 17.30 l'altra grande sorpresa del torneo, l'argentina Salerni nella finalissima del torneo.

“Una vittoria che vale tanto per la classifica”

Prima volta in tabellone in un torneo dello Slam e primo turno superato. La ventenne Sara Errani ha battuto (75 63) agli US Open la ceca Renata Voracova e sfodera un gran sorriso: “Un risultato importante - dice - grazie al successo di oggi mi entrano 60 punti e da 105 entro nelle prime 80. Per questo ero un po’ tesa, sapevo che mi giocavo tanti punti. Sono stata brava a recuperare nel primo set: ero sotto 5-3, vantaggio suo al servizio. Ho annullato il set point dopo uno scambio lunghissimo, quindi ho infilato quattro giochi di fila. Nel secondo set mi sono sciolta e il mio livello è salito”. Sara è di Massa Lombarda, in provincia di Ravenna, ma si allena da tre anni in Spagna, a Valencia (alla Tennis Val di Altur e Alvarinho dove si allenano anche Andreev, Ferrer, Safina, Medina Garrigues, Kirilenko). Già a 12 anni aveva però fatto un’esperienza all’estero, in Florida: “Per sei mesi mi sono allenata a Bradenton da Bollettieri, non vedevo l’ora di tornare a casa ma è stata un’esperienza che mi è servita per crescere”, conferma. Come quella di Valencia: “Ho imparato presto a cavarmela da sola. Vivo in un appartamento con un’altra ragazza, Paola Garcia, che prima giocava a tennis ma ora ha lasciato e frequenta l’università”. E’ alta appena 163 centimetri. “Certo quando mi trovo davanti una alta uno e ottanta un po’ ci penso - scherza -il mio colpo migliore è il rovescio bimane ma spesso mi sposto sul diritto per aprirmi il campo. A rete non sono male ma ci scendo poco, sono una giocatrice da fondo campo. Devo migliorare nel servizio”. Ha iniziato a giocare per imitare il fratello Davide più grande di cinque anni: “Lui poi ha smesso a 12 anni e si è dedicato al calcio - racconta - ha giocato anche in C2 con il Vercelli”. Il suo più grande fans è il papà Giorgio: “Sa tutto sulle mie avversarie…”, dice. I suoi migliori risultati sono le semifinali ad Acapulco e Palermo nel 2007. Al secondo turno degli Us Open di fronte avrà la francese Marion Bartoli, finalista a Wimbledon e numero 10 del ranking Wta: “Dovrò cercare di spostarla molto e di cambiarle ritmo”.

Non sa se essere più soddisfatta per come ha giocato o più delusa per come è finita. Sara Errani ha da poco perso 75 al terzo con la Davenport e racconta la sua partita con la ex numero uno del mondo: “E’ stato un bel match. Difficile anche perché era la terza volta che affrontavo la Davenport negli ultimi quattro tornei giocati. Dopo essere arrivata a Melbourne e aver visto il tabellone ero un po’ arrabbiata… Le prime due volte mi ha battuto senza concedermi chance, questa volta sono riuscita a giocare alla pari ed è una bella soddisfazione”. Le resta un rammarico: “Sul 4-2 del terzo set lei ha giocato bene ma un po’ di amaro in bocca mi resta…”. Quindi racconta ancora: “Ho cercato di essere sempre aggressiva, anche alla risposta”. Infine: “Ho venti anni e punto un giorno ad entrare tra le prime dieci. Non so quando ma è ovvio che se mi alleno tutti i giorni duramente è per raggiungere un obiettivo”. I complimenti le arrivano dalla stessa Davenport: "E' stato il match più combattuto da quando sono rientrata". Complimenti anche da Francesca Schiavone: "Ho visto il terzo set, Sara meritava di fare sua la partita, ha vinto Lindsay solo perché ha più esperienza".

Yes, she played well, burned Vika with a lot of drop shots. Sara is also quite fast, works well at net, and can hit the ball plenty hard. When she got broken to go down 4-5 in the 3rd set she yelled out an Italian word and got a code violation warning....;) I know she was disappointed with the lose be she will be heard from again many times of course. She was a real crowd pleaser also, a real fun player to watch.

:lol: i guess she screamed a lot of Vamos as always :lol:
