When You Win The Coin Toss/Racket Spin, Do Choose To Serve or Receive?

I choose to receive. I'm always so nervous at the start, and my return is much better than my serve. :sad:

Receive! My serve is actually pretty decent but I still rarely hold...

I choose to serve. I play doubles and serve and volley. I would much rather be serving and be in the offensive position.

I like to recieve....watching all of those Serena videos, I've practically mastered CRUSHING a weak second...so it puts fear in my opponent from the get-go

Receive! My serve is semi-decent when it goes in... which doesn't usually happen. I can demolish weak serves, though :lol:

Also, my volleys are like... Sharapova-caliber. So, serving and volleying doesn't usually come up in my games.

well, by serving first, you always have the chance to break back if broken.

You left out the option of letting your opponent choose.

receive. like to get a feel for the match, swing out at a few returns without having the pressure of having to win the first game or be down a break.

Receive... at my level, serving doesn't really have any advantage.

I'm a rhythm player as well, so I also like to have a few hits before I start serving.

i always serve first. I'll usually hold serve, so if i break my opponent when i am up 5-4, that's the set, however if i break to make 5-4 i will have the pressure on my serve of having to hold. does that make sense?

Serve, although I break much more. I want to start positively and offensively.
