Fantastic tennis! I think it was honestly more exciting than the singles final this year!

Sorry about the number of links and the quality. I had trouble joining the videos.

I feel the Shriver curse was at work today. "Venus and Bob are playing in the mixed final still later today. That'll be one hard team to break." And so they get broken 3 times. Thank you very much Pam! lol

They made it to the final, and from a Venus fan's perspective, if you had been reading the thread, you'd see that some of us are happy that she showed happiness on the court and produced great play with Bob. The smile with Bob with the runner up plates is enough. I hope that wasn't as hard for you to understand as it was for you to at least attempt in finding a Vera photo on your own.

Congrats Andy and Vera! Good tournament from you guys, and kudos for winning twice in a day.

Great tourney Bob and Venus! It was nice to be able to follow the Mixed tournament, as it was pretty exciting to do so. Apparently, they won't be together at the US Open, but Venus might be with Mike Bryan!

Q. How did Bob and Venus get together? When did that happen?

MIKE BRYAN: Uhm, right before the tournament, actually. Venus texted Bob. I think Bob was set up with Martina but they weren't communicating too well.

Q. Martina?

MIKE BRYAN: Martina thought she was playing with Bob. Bob thought she was playing with Leander. It kind of all get messed up. Bob committed to Venus and Leander committed to Sam Stosur. So it was kind of messy there. I don't think Martina was too happy for a few days. She just texted Bob last night and scooped him up for the US Open. But then Venus asked Bob last night to play at the US Open, so now he's already committed to Martina, so I might be playing with Venus.

Q. So he's committed to Martina now?

MIKE BRYAN: Yeah, her last Slam.

Q. He's playing tonight's final with Venus?

MIKE BRYAN: With Venus, yeah.

Q. Without her knowing?

MIKE BRYAN: Yeah, Venus doesn't know that he's playing with Martina yet for the US Open. I wouldn't tell her. They're going on pretty soon.

Vera and Andy were just too good today, it didn't help that Venus lost her serve in the first set and that Bob lost his twice in the second, but all credit to Andy and Zvonareva, they played superbly. Virginia Wade who was commentating said that VeeBob didn't do much wrong, it were their opponents.

I loved seeing Venus so happy and cheerful by the way, Bob really made her laugh a couple of times with the chestbump and when he threw his racket and took hers . I've never seen her play this relaxed :yeah:.
She also was hitting big this match  two backhand returns were just sizzling! The crowd was going oooooh and aaaaaaaaaah when she went into a forehand battle with Ram, she was smacking the ball back to him which was awesome to see. Virginia Wade was drooling over her wingspan and the way she covered the court .

It was also clear that VeeBob still have to adjust to each other, there were a couple of points where they were indecisive and the ball just landed on the court. At one point they both tried to hit a smash and then stopped to swing because they didn't want to hit each other :tape: . I hope they will continue this partnership though because they look sharp and strong and it's amazing they got to the finals in their first pairing.

Well, I don't see why Venus and Mike Bryan couldn't take the US Open title with sufficient practice. It would have been nice if VeeBob continued tough.

what is so funny about this?

Ooooooh sore loser :haha: :haha:

Yes:) And Justine couldn't get a ball past Amelie at the net today:haha::haha:

You must have been watching the wrong match .... go take a look at the stats and look at the net percentage of Justine. ;) Oh wait, I'll type it out for you

Justine: net approaches 27/44
Amelie: net approaches 22/45

Go take a look on the Wimbledon website, for proof! :haha:

Now with percentages like that, how can you validate your statement of "Justine couldn't get a ball past Amelie at the net today"? So what's your answer? Or will you chose not to answer it and run away :haha: :haha:

Your statement just goes to prove my point that you know absolutely nothing about tennis, except supporting the William Sisters. If you did, then you wouldn't have said "Justine couldn't get a ball past Amelie at the net today" would you, because you would have noticed that Justine had won more net points than Amelie?

I honestly can't understand how someone who understands tennis and who watched the match today, could say what you said? Unless you didn't watch the match, but if you didn't watch the match, how could you make the original statement you made?

Again, sore loser you are

Too bad. Martina is one fast lady, but it is her last US Open and I bet she wants the best chance of winning (although I bet Bob would rather play with Venus  )

I hope Mike asks Venus to play!!!!!! :worship: would be incredible!!! :bounce: :hearts:

Venus and Bob played a good match, I'm happy with their success they played an incredible toruny, they should become regular partners they would become a dominate team and would learn each other strenghts and weaknesses. Vera and Andy played great. COngrats to them.

Venus and Bob were off as a team which contributed to the loss. Vera was already warmed up and well rested. I said they should have play on sunday b/c I knew VeeBob would have a little trouble. But who cares, they lost But VeeBob gave us some good tennis this week, I'm not sad b/c I know Venus will eventually win all the mixed titles.

Serena should team up with Milke and Venus with Bob at the US Open if they did the the mixed doubles toruney would be very exciting this year b/c we would have two top american siblings playing at the US OPEN.

Vera and Ram were the better played that's it. Ram was too good at the net, Venus and Bob had trouble just getting the ball into play. And vera's lops, and ground strokes and tactical play were superb.

They were the better players, venus and bob couldn't do much. That was it. The better players won - no excuses!

Damn you saw how fast Martina grabbed Bob up. I think it was trifling for her to ask Bob to be her Partner the night before he was going to play his final with Venus. Anyway VeeMike sounds good, glad he might stepped up to the plate and will play with Venus instead, but I still think VeeBob would be a better team than VeeMike or MikeVee

Your right it was not fatigue, but VeeBob was off as a TEAM today did u see when they both made the same mistake by touching the NET in crucial games, how often does that happen they did not do that once all toruney. and Bob made some blunders in the games where he was broken.

Andy was great as usual and Vera shined (and overshined him) in the final, although the wimbledon site doesn't agree with us.

Really... the Wimbledon Site doesn't agree???? this is from their site... "Despite some valiant return attempts from a jaded Bryan and Williams – who overcame the 11th, sixth, fourth and second seeds in straight sets to reach the final – the Americans failed to stifle their opponents’ growing dominance.
Ram and Zvonareva – who frequently impressed with some quite breathtaking passing shots – controlled the match, as 21-year-old Zvonareva continued to produce punchy shot after shot, which even the unusually lacklustre Bryan was unable to cope with."

I think Venus did extremely well just to make the finals, especially when you consider she hasn't played a competitive doubles match since 2003. To have such a gap and make a final in your first outing is amazing. Imagine if she had played just one other doubles tournament coming into this one.

Too bad for Vee and Bob, they were just little off today...and Vera and Andy were just lights off. You see Vera play like that and you can't understand why she isn't doing much in singles... I guess the murderer row that Venus and Bob had finally took it's toll, too many seeds to beat.
