This is the first time I've seen either girl play. I dipped into the coverage because it clashed with the Ladies' Final.

It seemed like it was a bit of an error-fest. Wozniacki is quite feisty too. She made a couple of mistakes with leaving balls that she thought were heading out even though she could have got to them and then had a go at the umpire about it! Shows a bit of immaturity but I'm sure she'll cut it out over time. Shows good determination to come through these few matches having dropped the opening set. I think, if she can develop her game in the right way, with her combination of looks and matchplay she could become a real fan favourite on the Tour.

As I say, I didn't see all of the match but it looked like Rybarikova kinda threw it away. She reminds me a little of Hantuchova (not just because she's Slovak). She has a decent first serve to dominate the point from the start, makes some nice dropshots and hits a big flat forehand but she has a tendency to make as many errors as winners off it. She's also the anti-Mary Pierce, taking almost no time whatsoever between points. I think if she slowed down a little and tempered that forehand a bit she may have won.

She did it... :clap2: Caro. :worship:

So cool. And Kurt Nielsen was there to congratulate her after the match. So fitting.

He was the last Danish singles winner. He won the juniors in 1947... Made it to senior finals in the 50's. An old chap now as you might imagine - with a nose to make Karl Malden jealous if anyone saw him today and didn't recognize him.

In recent years, Danish pro tennis has been pretty much reduced to registering Kenneth Carlsen's ever-increasing record of first-round Slam losses.

This was much needed.

Great serve, slightly erratic groundies. Radwanska also used the dropshot very frequently against Caroline, clearly a strategy to rattle her strong baseline game. Her speed between points was incredible. She had one clean service game that I doubt lasted a minute.

Hard to assess how far she can go. Very surprised that she won her semifinal, but her game is well-suited for grass. Looks like top 100 potential for sure.

Rybarikova reminds me a lot of Hantuchova. Cute girl.

Do you have info on what kind of sponsor thing she had to do? a lot of us are wondering why she couldn't go to the dinner.

Oh and no Caroline's father doesn't seem like a typical tennis dad. Sure he's ambitious but so is Caro, I think both her and her mother tries very hard to both protect Caroline and her brother and help them to be as succesful as possible.

This is the link: http://sporten.tv2.dk/wimbledon/article.php/id-4472896.html

It sais it was some kind of presentation at Birkerød Tennis Club, which would good for her sponsors. There was a minor future tournament at Birkerød. It doesn't say if she played or just showed up.

Her dad is in DK a little know for being pushy. Some years ago there was a documentary and a lot of people were shocked at how much he pushed her since she was so little. She might not be bad compared to other tennis-dads, but compared to what is acceptable in Denmark he is.

Thx for the link. That's really sad but perhaps Caroline needed a bit of time with her family before going to USA to play in the WTT...

About the documentary you are mistaking her for Sandie Sørensen, another promising junior that got sent to Spain to train at an academy when she was 11 or 12. Sandie's father was pushing her far beyond what most people would find acceptable. If you're Danish it should be pretty easy to find more about Sandie.

It's still odd. She said in her interview after the match that she couldn't wait for the ball and to find a pretty dress and she hoped she would sit next to Federer. She really looked forward to it, so I doubt it was a decision she made.

About the program, if I remember correctly (if was young back then though) it also involved Caro. Wonderkids or something like that...

Yeah it's really weird and I feel really sorry that Caro couldn't participate in the ball. Off course the Wozniacki family ows a lot the sponsors, but they will get full value for their investments as Caroline's name gets more and more atention worldwide.
All I'm saying is that we shouldn't draw unjust conclusions (like TV2/Michael Tauson) did, when we haven't got a lot of details.

thalle

True. I just can't stop thinking how odd it is that what Caro has been looking so much forward too wont happen, and instead she will be in Birkerød.

Its the worst crap I has ever read, she should have stay in London for the Wimby dinner, it may be a once time in a life she has the chance for that ball and so Monday be in Birkerød! Monday or Tuesday she will goto USA for the WTT.

i agree, ive actually talked to his dad when she played here in the philippines..and he was so enthusiastic when he was talking about caroline.. yes, hes a little pushy when caroline is playing or when training, but i saw them outside the tennis grounds and theyre actually sweet.
