View Full Version : Unreliable Drug Testing?

How can the Anti doping association jump to conclusions just by a high level of nandrolone in the blood, when it has been proven that those tests are unreliable. For example, extreme diet and exercise, and with or without the use legal dietary supplements can produce a level of nandrolone consistent with a dope cheat. Eating uncastrated pork can have the same effects, and even pregnancy might sometimes produce abnormally high levels.

In the Karatantcheva case, the results weren't conclusive and they didn't consider that some pregnancies do create abnormal levels of the substance.

So how can they accuse Sesil and other players of taking anabolic steroids when in extreme and unlikely circumstances they could be found with high levels of a drug they haven't taken?

Unfortunately, the dopers will always be ahead of the testers somehow. I've heard that the Anti-Doping agency is actually six years behind the latest performance enhancing drugs.

for tennis, do they do blood and urine or just urine testing? b/c, human growth hormone is only dectectal thru a blood test.

They did both for Sesil.

iliketennis, things with doping are extreamly complicated. There is one person who proved that the "pee-pots" can be opened after being officialy "sealed" and still they didn't get this into account.

The problem with Sesil is more that her father made a very unprofessional thing- he didn't keep CLEAR proofs of what he bought, when he gave it to Sesil and how much. The tribunal clearly stated it and it's true- he just did his job badly. If he had this and could proove he gave those supliments to Sesil, combined with her pregnancy- she would have been banned for less time I believe if not totaly cleared at ITF level.

That's it, let's hope when she returns he gave the money back so she can compete again and let's cross fingers she can get to manage her carrer alone because with him.. well, he has to stay only her father and not her coach, amanger and all this (to put it nicely).

Biggest and most scandalous example: Nadal's left arm is bigger that his 2 legs...
