The one thing you know about Chanda is that she does not come back from injury until she is good and ready. She is not one to play her way back into form. She's going to take the extra few months to come back in 100% from the very first match and this is an indication of that. Rolle is no slouch.

Yay, Chanda! :yippee:

I was hoping Monica would play WTT to see where her game is. I guess if she does officially retire, it'll be overshadowed by Agassi.

Great news! :yippee: I was checking the live scoring section of the WTT site last night waiting for this result, but they played pretty late so I gave up.

Here's the scoop from the USTA Middle States site:

American Chanda Rubin returns to tennis for the first time in nearly a year for a week-long stint with the Philadelphia Freedoms of the WTT Pro League presented by Advanta. Rubin, who has been ranked as high as #6 in the world in singles, will fill in for Lisa Raymond who will miss the first week of the season.

Rubin, who has won 7 singles and 10 doubles titles on the WTA Tour, underwent knee surgery in 2004 and was able to only play three events in 2005 before she was sidelined by ankle surgery. Rubin will play for the Freedoms on July 6, 7, 10, 11 and 12.

So she's playing again tonight! :D

Thanks, I'll try to follow it on the live scoring (which is really awkwardly made). She'll play Angie Haynes, I'm assuming. Hopefully Chanda can take it.

I wouldn't worry; Monica is not going to retire at this year's USOpen. She
may turn out to be one of those players who never officialy quit, like
McEnroe. But she hasn't played tour tennis in over three years, and will
be 33 in December. It looks more doubtful by the day that she'll make
a return to pro tennis.

I looked for the live scoring last night, but that match wasn't even showing up on the page. Not the best web site!

Anyway, for Chanda fans there is good and bad news. The good news is, she played again, for the 2nd day in a row. So hopefully, she's feeling good. :)

The bad news is that she lost to Angie Haynes. I think the score was 2-5. I think she lost in doubles, too, but I started to lose interest trying to decipher the eccentric web page. :p
