Good luck Jo :) !!!
May 29th, 2002, 01:18 AM
thanks for results Jo, good luck :)
if you happen to see either of the Canadians in action (Marois, Soukup), would you be able to let me know how their form was? Melanie's one of our younger "hopes", so I'm particularly interested to see how she's playing at the moment since this is her last year of junior eligibility.
best of luck aswell to Lindsay, Diana, and Katia :)
May 29th, 2002, 02:04 AM

May 29th, 2002, 07:52 PM
Devidze won 7/6 in the third after a 3 1/2 hour match.
Moore won 0 and 4.
Essigher won 3 and 3
Hazlet bt Soukup 1 and 2
Llona bt Baker 0 and 2
Thats all the results I know.
Randy, I did not see Melony play yesterday and Soukup has a beautiful backhand but her forehand is weaker, she tries to use way too much topspin??
Talk to you tomorrow guys
May 29th, 2002, 07:57 PM

May 29th, 2002, 11:45 PM
Congrats Jo! Good luck in your next round!
I actually have a question for you about satellites in general. Even though they are smaller tournaments, would you say a fair number of people show up for them? Also, do they have ballboys/refs for the matches? Thanks!
P.S. If you get a chance in your free moments to watch Keiko Tameishi, could you tell me how she plays? Thanks!
May 30th, 2002, 01:39 AM
Well done Jo! :D
Bradshaw#1... I've been to a couple of challengers in Europe, and not many people turned up. There were no ball people or lines people either... just a chair umpire! :( (For 10k events anyway).
May 30th, 2002, 03:26 AM
Thanx Jo, expected Katia to have won easy too, hope you get to play her in QF
they do have an Umpire but you won't see many ballboys/girls at Challenger level.
There's hardly any linespersons either, maybe just on 1 of the courts, the Umpire makes all the calls.
May 30th, 2002, 10:41 AM
Well Done Jo:D

Randy H, I saw Marois play in the Hatfield tournament here int the UK two weeks ago. She only made the second round of the main draw, but I thought she looked an excellent doubles player, as she made the semi-finals with Chanelle Scheepers.
There's an excellent new photo from Hatfield of Marois at the following site
Most of the photos marked "new" are from Hatfield. They're taken by a British photographer, although they're on a Danish website.

Ok, todays results!!
Sorry to say I lost today. Actually very badly, 0 and 1. :(.
I played horrible, lost all my timing until 4 0 in the second set. Then started playing better, but not to worry, as long as I learn from the lose then it was a positive day.
Also, Lindsay Lee Waters lost in 3 set to Hazlet. :(
Salome won easily.
Katia bt Alves.
O'Connor won 3 and 0.
Dasso bt Faucher 3 in the third.
Lindsay and I had a walkover in doubles due to Faucher pulling a hamstring in her singles.
Hopefully tomorrow will bring both Lindsay and I more luck :)
As for people at 10Ks': Last week in El Paso we had a good showing everyday, I think more people will watch when it is being played at a club. (This week we are playing at a Unicersity centerz) As for umpires, in the US tournaments all matches in 10Ks; main draw have an umpire and one linesperson. In the semis we had 2 lines and the final all lines were covered. It is definately the best place in the world for having umpires. Also. the supervisors in these tournaments are also great, fair to everyone of us.
Have a great day guys,

sorry bout the loss Jo :( thanks for the Soukup info, looks like the backhand just wasn't enough this week though :o
thanks for the picture link! :) a nice photo of melanie. she's a fairly decent player, and if she can just become more consistent could have a decent career (though i don't see her as promising as marie-eve pelletier). i agree, she is definitely a pretty good doubles player, and had several solid junior doubles results too. hopefully she can keep improving :)
glad to see katia won again aswell, too bad for lindsay though :(
