RULES AND INFORMATION:

Predict the scores of matches from all the rounds and get points on how
close you were to the correct score.
Making Predictions
Each tournament you must predict the score of WTA matches for that
tournament. Based on the size of the WTA Draw, you will have to pick so
many from each round. Now, the only predictions that you ABSOLUTELY
MUST MAKE are from the first round. After the first round, you may make as
few, or the maximum number in each round. So, if you forget to do round 2,
you're not out, just make some for the QF's or SF's or etc.

NUMBER OF PREDICTIONS:

128 Player Draw:
1st Round: YOU MUST MAKE 11 PREDICTIONS
2nd Round: You CANNOT make more than 9 predictions
3rd Round: You CANNOT make more than 7 predictions
4th Round: You CANNOT make more than 5 predictions
Quarterfinal: You CANNOT make more than 3 predictions
Semifinal: You CANNOT make more than 2 predictions
Final: 1 Prediction

SCORING POINTS

Now, for the points. For each match you predict, you will get points based on
how accurately you predict the match. Here is a list of all the points you can get:

Correct winner, set #, and all scores: 35 points
(ex: your prediction: davenport d. sharapova 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. actual score:
3-6, 7-5, 6-2)

Correct winner, set #, set scores, but the sets were in the wrong order:
25 points
(ex: your prediction: davenport d. sharapova 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. actual score:
3-6, 7-5, 6-2)

Correct winner, set #, and one set score: 20 points
(ex: your prediction: davenport d. sharapova 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. actual score:
3-6, 7-5, 6-2)

Correct winner, set #, and two set scores: 23 points
(ex: your prediction: davenport d. sharapova 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. actual score:
3-6, 7-5, 6-2)

Correct winner and correct set #, but no scores correct: 15 points
(ex: your prediction: davenport d. sharapova 6-0, 4-6, 6-3. actual score:
3-6, 7-5, 6-2)

Correct winner, incorrect set #, and 1 set score correct: 12 points
(ex: your prediction: davenport d. sharapova 7-5, 6-0. actual score:
3-6, 7-5, 6-2)

Correct winner, incorrect set #, and 2 set scores correct: also 12 points
(ex: your prediction: davenport d. sharapova 7-5, 6-2. actual score:
3-6, 7-5, 6-2)(this is also 12 points because the set # are incorrect..so
basically correct winner but incorrect set # gets you 12 points)

Incorrect winner (scores and set # do not matter): 0 points
(ex: your prediction: sharapova d. davenport 6-3, 5-7, 6-1. actual score:
davenport d. sharapova 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. even though you got 2 set scores
right and the # of sets, it doesn't matter cause your winner is wrong.)

RANKING POINTS:

Winner(1st)-- 700 points
Finalist(2nd)-- 492 points
Semifinalists(3rd/4th)-- 314 points
Quarterfinalists(5th-8th)-- 174 points
4th Round(9th-16th)-- 96 points
3rd Round(17th-32nd)--62 points
2nd Round(33rd+)--38 points
1st Round(no picks)-- 1 point

After each round I will update the standings with the points you
receive for your picks. At the end of the tournament, you will receive ranking
points based on where you are in the rankings. The ranking points you get will be based on the Ranking Points the WTA Players receive for the round they make.

The actual rankings will be calculated after each tournament, and will
be done like the WTA Rankings(except the fact that all tourneys you play in count). They will run on a 12 month system, and you will lose points exactly 12 months after you gain them if you do not defend them. This will help keep the game close and more realistic. There will also be Race Rankings, which will be accumulated from the first tournament up until the last tournament before the YEC. The top 8 will make the YEC. After the Year-End Championships, the points will reset and everyone will start the next year from 0.

No need to sign up, just make your first round picks to be eligible to play!! Good luck!!

PTS Wimbledon 2006 Preview

Welcome to PTS Wimbledon and thanks to all of you for joining in this tournament and helping to make PTS a success. Although this tourney will not feature as many people as the French hopefully PTS can continue to grow as it progresses throughout the remainder of the year. Remember that the following is a mixture of factual and made up information. Also remember that it is all in good taste and just to get everyone into the competitive nature that Wimbledon deserves.Enjoy!!!

Seeded Player Breakdowns:

1. Silverwhite-SIN
Titles: 1- French Open 2006

Silverwhite is a dangerous player who is definitely one of the favorites to take this Wimbledon title. The recent first place finisher at Roland Garros, has been a contender in almost every single tournament he has entered in PTS. Silverwhite burst into the PTS scene with a semifinal showing at the Family Circle Cup. He went on to back that up with quarterfinal placings at Warsaw, Berlin, and Rome, losing to the eventual winner at Warsaw and Berlin. The week before Roland Garros, Silverwhite had his best showing ever at Strasbourg as the runner up, losing to Slokid. He went on to cruise to a French Open title with straight set victories in every round. His dominance on the clay did not translate over to the grass right away as he was upset in the first round at Birmingham but made a better showing at Eastbourne, reaching the quarterfinals. Can Silverwhite take back to back grand slam titles or will the grass get to him in the end? With a lot of points at stake Silverwhite knows that a poor showing here can cost him his PTS world number one spot and he will do everything he can to make sure that does not happen!

2. Slokid-SLO
Titles: 2- Warsaw 2006, Strasbourg 2006

Slokid is another favorite heading into Wimbledon. Perhaps one of the most consistent players on the tour, you can always expect to see Slokid in the second half of a tournament. If the first PTS tournament, Family Circle, was any indication of how players would fall into place, it surely hit the nail with Slokid. He was the runner up at the maiden tourney and is currently number two in the world by PTS rankings. He went on the next week to win Warsaw and become number one in the world. He continued his good form on clay with a semifinal in Rome and another title in Strasbourg. A clear favorite to take the French Open crown, Slokid buckled under the pressure and fell in the Round of 16. It seemed as if grass would not be kind to Slokid as he had a second round exit in Birmingham, but last week in Eastbourn Slokid showed he is a contender once again with a semifinal finish and gaining loads of confidence for his Wimbledon debut.

3. Chris84-SCO
Titles: 1- Berlin 2006

Chris84 started the PTS circuit off strong, but has consistently slid down in terms of results and ranking points. At the Family Circle Cup, Chris84 was able to reach the quarterfinal round and looked to be one of PTS's strongest players. The next tourney in Warsaw he reached the final but lost to Slokid in three tough sets. The next week in Berlin, Chris84 blew away the competition, taking the title and dropping only 20 games in 5 matches. Rome would turn out to be a huge turning point in the new world number one's game and confidence. He lost in the quarterfinals to adachi, the eventual winner, in dramatic fashion, in a match where he blew 4 match points. A mediocre result at Strasbourg and a round of 16 showing at the French showed that loss had a huge effect on Chris84. Birmingham and Eastboure have been no kinder to him as he has left in the 2nd round of both tournaments. Can he turn around his game and have a good showing here at Wimbledon? It would be a huge upset in many people's eyes if he were to do so!

4. adachi-CHI
Titles: 1- Rome 2006

adachi is player that no one wants to see in their part of the draw. A player that goes for his shots can be deadly on his good days and a pushover on his bad days. Adachi was slow to start off in PTS, with very early round exits at both Family Circle and Warsaw. In Berlin he got into his form and played his way into the semis. Rome would be the turning point of Adachi's career however. A huge victory of then number one Chris84 in the quarters, and a tough fought out victory in the semis against MH0861, helped him take his first PTS title. Adachi was a favorite for sure heading into the French but lost in the quarters to jumpstart sensation Cp6uja. His results on grass have been mediocre but if adachi is on, he is on. Surely a contender here at Wimbledon and one to keep our eyes on!

5. MH0861-USA
Titles: none

MH0861, the highest ranked PTS player without a title. MH0861 is still waiting for his first title and real breakout tournament. A consistent player who usually is found in the second week of a tournament, MH0861 knows his time will come soon enough. His debut at Family Circle was a loss in the 1r and he decided to take time off and skip Warsaw entirely. This decision proved successful as he reached the semis in Berlin the following week. He followed that up with another semi appearance in Rome, losing to eventual winner adachi in a tough three setter, and then a quarterfinal finish at Strasbourg. An outside favorite at Roland Garros, he exceeded his ranking by making it to the semifinals once again, where he to lost to PTS newcomer Cp6uja. His results on grass have not been good with two 2nd round losses, making one wonder if his first title can actually come at a grass tournament?

6. Cp6uja-SER
Titles: 1 Birmingham 2006

Cp6uja may be PTS's biggest story so far in 2006. The Serbian has only played in three tournaments and has already secured himself a seed here at Wimbledon. He started his magical run at the French in qualifying, playing his way into the main draw. Upset after upset he found himself knocking off players who were ranked well above himself. He took out local French favorites, Eastplayers and Ceze in the 3rd round and 4th rounds respectively, and then added adachi and MH0861 to his collection of scalps. His run fell short in the finals when he lost to Silverwhite but it was still an amazing and historical battle. The next week Cp6uja proved that he was no one hit wonder by taking the title of Birmingham pretty handily. Last week in Eastbourne he was brought back down from cloud 9 when he suffered a 2nd round defeat but is surely still a favorite to take the Wimbledon title!

7. mapaliey-IND
Titles: none

If the term flying under the radar belongs to any one person in this tournament is belongs to Indonesian sensation mapaliey. The PTS world number 7 is consistent in each and every tourney and has been close to making a run for a title on more than a few occasions. His debut to PTS was lackluster, with a 1st round defeat. No worries though, as he followed that up in Warsaw with a semifinal showing. Some more mediocre results through the rest of the warm up clay tourneys, mapaliey made something special happen at Roland Garros. He reached the semifinals where he lost to Silverwhite, but took out some tough opponents on the way there. His grass results have been among the best of PTS as well, with quarterfinal appearances at both Birmingham and Eastbourne. A darkhorse for this Wimbledon title for sure, mapaliey will do his best to take the title home to Indonesia!!

8. NyCPsU-USA
Titles: 1- Eastbourne 2006

NyCPsU may well be one of the favorites to win Wimbledon this year. With his first PTS title coming at Eastbourne last week he is playing with lots of confidence and can be really tough to take out. Consistent results throughout his PTS career, except for a two week slump in the smaller clay tournaments, NyCPsU wants to extend his winning streak through Wimbledon. He has reached the quarterfinals in 4 of the 8 tournaments he has participated in, (Family Circle, Warsaw, Roland Garros, and Birmingham). He was the runner up in Berlin to Chris84 and was number three in the world after that. After two early round exits in Strasbourg and Rome, he dropped to 8 in the world, but is steadily making his way back up. Will he be a contender for the title?

Rest of the field:

meelis13: extremely consistent and was the runner up at Eastbourne. Anyone would be foolish not to consider him a contender.

Barlos: Perhaps Britian's best chance to win Wimbledon this year. His best PTS result is a quarterfinal finish at Roland Garros.

jrm: This player is as hot and cold as one could possibly be. Which jrm will show up to Wimbledon? The semifinalist at Strasbourg or the 1r exiter at Birmingham and Eastbourne?

Champion88: Another Great Britian hopeful. His best performance was a semifinal at Warsaw.

Smokovec: This player goes for crazy predictions. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. If the upsets are plentiful, expect Smokovec to do well.

Luxxxas: A two time quarterfinalist at PTS, (Family Circle and Birmingham) luxxxas in one who can pull of the upset and make a dangerous run for the title!

Vacant: Great Britian's third chance at a title will have to step it up if he wants to best his current best performance of a quarterfinal at Birmingham.

Ceze: Ceze started the season in the middle and has only played in 5 tourneys but has managed to climb up the rankings regardless. His results on grass have been horrid however with two 1r losses at Birmingham and Eastbourne.

Hantu515: Started even later than Ceze, but has done consistently well in PTS. A quarterfinalist at Roland Garros and Eastbourne, he is certainly one to watch out for.

I<3Lindsay: The American has been labeled a journeyman, as his results have been consistently early round exits. His best result is a 3rd round at the French.

Eastplayers: A semifinalist last week in Eastbourne, Eastplayers looks to be coming into good form at the right time.

Solitaire: A quiet but potent player. If his opponent does not play well Solitaire will make them pay. Has never advanced beyond the 3rd round however.

TdF DBLL: Has not played much this season and usually falls early when he does. A semifinal at Birmingham is his biggest achievement in PTS thus far.

Daniela86: Plagued with injuries and off court problems, she has only played two tournaments before Wimbledon. With early exits in both.

gumoll: Another newcomer who is making a name for himself. Runner up at Birmingham which was his first PTS tourney but then a 1st round exit at Eastbourne. Which gumoll will come to play?

RR-87: Newcomer who has only played in two tournies before Wimbledon. Both were 1st round exits however.

Danikim: Another bothered all season by injuries. Has only played in Warsaw where he suffered a 1st round defeat.

AlonsoFx: Made it into the main draw by playing through qualies. Shows promise, do we have another magical run by a qualifier in the making??

Bubba08: Another qualifier who hopes to go far at Wimbledon. Just how far will he be able to go?

 :bounce: I LOVE it! :D :wavey:

I am simply a clay court specialist! :o

People better be prepared for a surprise then :armed:

:worship: for the preview btw :worship:

Announcements after 1st Round:

Lets start off with perfect picks.... there were a few this round....

TdF DBLL, gumoll, luxxxas, jrm, smokovec, and Barlos all had perfect picks. They all earned 35 points for these picks. Good job guys!!
Not one seed made a perfect pick:eek:

As you can see the seeds choked under the pressure in the first round. Many making the same mistakes and losing costly points due to the Schiavone and Dechy upsets.
In fact there were only 3 players who completely stayed away from losses and were 11 for 11 in their picks. They were Champion88, jrm, and Danikim. Congrats guys!!

With so many points at stake since this is a grand slam the rankings could really be shaken up if the non-seeds continue their good form. So remember where the cut-offs are for final placing!!

The top 5 finishers from Eastbourne last week are all outside of the top10, with the winner NyCPsU in a pathetic 23rd place. Thats called choking! :o

There are people who have extra picks due to retirements. Obviously if you predicted the Clijsters-Kutuzova match you can make that pick up, but these players predicted matches that involved retirements in round 1 and have not made replacement picks yet:

RR-87: You have 2 extra picks to use due to Shvedova and Vakulenko retiring.
I<3Lindsay: 1 extra pick from Osterloh retiring.
TdF DBLL: 1 extra pick from Vakulenko retiring.

With many rounds and predictions to go so much can change in the standings, so make sure not to give up and choose your picks wisely!!

Although there are less people here than at the French, it is better because every single player here is committed and making predictions every week. Id rather it would be like that, it makes the game better!!:) So thanks for your commitment!

Announcements after Round 2:

Perfect Picks were plentiful in this round. There were 9 in all!!

3 came from meelis13, vacent, and danikim, who all predicted their first perfect pick of Wimbledon!! Good job guys!

The first and only seed to finally make a perfect pick was adachi, who did it this round as well.

TdF DBLL, gumoll, and jrm all predicted a perfect scoreline, making that one in each round so far.

Solitaire had not one, but two perfect picks in this round. Great job!!!

gumoll and Cp6uja both tied for having the most points in this round with 179 points each. jrm finished this round with 172, and meelis13 and Barlos rounded out the top5 with 169 points each.

Many people actually got more points in this round than the last round!

mapaliey, solitaire, smokovec, and TdF DBLL were the only people to actually predict one incorrect winner. Schnyder the reason for most.

The seeds are still not living up to their seeds in this tournament, but Cp6uja with his strong round has salvaged some pride back for the seeds. He is the only seed in the top 8 but adachi and Chris84 are knocking on the door as well.

The French Open Champ, silverwhite sinks even further in the tourney. As does Eastbourne champ, NycPsU. Both will finish with 3r exits if they do not move up at all!

Good luck in the 3rd round everyone!! :)

The number on the right is amount of picks left in this round.
Adachi and Luxxxas both started off with perfect picks this round, predicting the Henin-Hardenne match correctly and earning 35 points each in this round.
Chris85 and Barlos both had to settle for 25 points as their scoreline was correct but in the wrong order.
Gumoll is the only person who actually predicted the match and didint get at least 20 points. (he earned 15 for correct number of sets, but none right)
Daniela86 and TdF DBLL are the only two who made picks and didnt predict this match!

IVANOVIC over SHARAPOVA
HINGIS over CLIJSTERS

IVANOVIC over HINGIS

Like you all see i'm not some "biased" Ana :hearts:  :worship: fan and i'm not feel ashamed to confess that she is not best tennis player in the world at this moment (right now Federer is better, maybe even Nadal is better... etc). :wavey:
