WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Mark Philippoussis, the 2003 Wimbledon runner-up, was one of eight men who received wild-card invitations Friday to play in the grass-court Grand Slam tournament.

Philippoussis has been plagued by injuries and he's currently ranked 176th.

Others getting wild cards were Romania's Andrei Pavel and six British men: Jamie Baker, Richard Bloomfield, Alex Bogdanovic, Jamie Delgado, Martin Lee, and Alan Mackin.

Women's wild cards went to: Australia's Alicia Molik, Belarus' Victoria Azarenka, Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska and five British players: Sarah Borwell, Naomi Cavaday, Anne Keothavong, Katie O'Brien and Melanie South.

Jelena Dokic, a semifinalist at Wimbledon in 2000, was given a wild-card entry into the women's qualifying event.

Do you think she'll pull out of that one??

Still a surprise though

Maybe Jelena is going to do a Djokovic and play for Britain :):) We need them both.

Wonder if there are any grass tournies she can prep on?

If she has no WC for Eastbourne, the only other grass tournie I can find is the Ordina, Netherlands, I dont know if she is allowed to play that though.

it will be hard considering the fact that she doesn't play on grass at all thsi season but I hope she'll do great anyway...she must be training yet so she sure can do something good + she is great on grass! go jeca! do something great in the qualifying and then kick some ass in the main draw! best of luck!
