You know for a fact there will be a superstar??

Both my sons assure me they will be superstars. Of course, one of them dreams he's going to play for Arsenal, so he's obviously disturbed.

The other one is a goalkeeper, which means he's really, really, really disturbed.

Not really. For the team with only six man on the green the game is lost.
The other Team gets automaticaly a 2:0 win.
So if the USA gets another three red cards, the Italians have won 2:0

yea because im sure he was so hurt. I hate watching mens soccer sometimes because of how big of pussies they are. They act everything out too much, but you can't act out blood. THe only red that should have happened in this game was the first, please don't make yourself seem stupid because you don't like the american team. Leave your biases out and then judge it

Now look who's biased!

All red cards were correct. It takes guts for a ref to give that many reds, but he had to. Don't change the rules of football because they sometimes turn against your fav team. A double footed attack, straight for the supporting leg is red, whether you like it or not.
Some felt the first yellow Totti got was too harsh, but that card was correct too as he'd aborted a promising attack by the US. Don't blame the ref. The Italian coach immediately replaced Totti after the first red so that he wouldn't risk another red. The American coach took a gamble and let Pope play.

I don't know what European articles you've been reading but here are a few in English:

BBC:

"Moments later, Mastroeni was off too. His two-footed, reckless lunge on Pirlo was deserving of a red card and left referee Jorge Larrionda with little option."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/world_cup_2006/4853182.stm

The Telegraph:
http://wc2006a.telegraph.co.uk/Document.aspx?id=EA6D4F27-19D9-4319-A838-5E6C281CABE2

It was the United States' own fault that they found themselves with nine players

The Times:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,28749-2231336,00.html

There were three red cards, all of them justified, and three more yellow cards that might have turned the deeper colour.

Pablo Mastroeni lunged into a two-footed tackle on the shin of Andrea Pirlo — so late and so vicious, it was a wonder there was no breaking of bone — and was dismissed.

I've yet to read a non-American article where it is said the reds weren't justified.

The United States still is a developing nation when it comes to soccer, but it is easily one of the most improved national teams in the world. Our professional national league it's barely 10 years old , and it should serve as a good platform for our futute generations. :) Also there are more youths playing soccer and that should increase our talent pool from previous generations. The future does indeed look bright*

The things that went down punished though (the red cards) were totally deserved, on both sides.

... I still have mixed feelings about that, but I can tell you one thing...they should add some sort of screen replay because diving is indeed a problem in many matches.
